Abstract: A bending system for separating a page from a cover of a value document, wherein the page is connected to a spine of the cover, the spine separating the cover in first and second cover portions, wherein an angle ? is formed between the first and second cover portions. The bending system includes a bending unit connected to a motor, wherein the motor is configured to operate the bending unit such that the bending unit bends the value document to a first state, where ? is larger than 180°, and then back to a second state, where ? is at least 180° but less than ? in the first state, to separate the page from the cover. Also disclosed is an engraving system for engraving a front side and backside of a page of the value document and a document manufacturing device including the bending system and engraving system.

Abstract: A board holder that is adapted for martial arts training has an elongate rod and at least one clamp disposed on an exterior surface of the elongate rod. The at least one clamp has a first clamping wall and a second clamping wall. The first and second clamping walls are adapted to secure a board. The board holder may also have a mount that is configured to be secured to a wall or a punching bag. Advantageously, a person may grip the board holder during training, as well as secure the board holder to the wall or punching bag.

Abstract: An office status notifier that may be placed at an employee's work station to let co-workers know where the employee is when they are not at their desk. The notifier may include a plurality of pre-printed (or user defined) cards that may rotate about one or more card holders. The card holders may be suspended from a base by a cross-member supported by legs. The notifier may be designed with an attachment mechanism to affix the notifier to a piece of office equipment, such as a top portion of a computer monitor.

Abstract: An automatic page-turning scan device for automatically turning and scanning pages of a book includes an automatic page-turning device and a scan module. The automatic page-turning device includes a base, a book support, a page-pressing module, a pick-up and page-turning module, and a system controller connected with the book support, the page-pressing module and the pick-up and page-turning module. The book support slidably mounted to the base includes two supporting panels for supporting the book. The page-pressing module is mounted to the supporting panel includes a driving module, and a pressing plate driven by the driving module. The pick-up and page-turning module mounted to the base includes a pick-up holder, a pick-up arm and a path guiding mechanism. The scan module is mounted to the automatic page-turning device, and the system controller controls the scan module to scan the pages of the book.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in a wagering environment are disclosed. An exemplary embodiment comprises a wagering terminal including a processor, a memory, a primary display, and a secondary display. The primary display is configured for displaying visual messages. These visual messages are displayed as part of a graphical user interface and include at least one wagering transaction message. The secondary display is configured for displaying additional visual messages associated with the visual messages of the primary display. These additional visual messages are displayed as part of an additional graphical user interface. The wagering terminal may further include a proximity detector configured for detecting the presence of a gaming patron, a user identification unit configured for sampling a unique physical attribute of a user, and an image capture unit configured for capturing at least one image in a vicinity of the wagering terminal.

Abstract: The present invention provides a display assembly for posters and the like having a protective sheet that may be replaced with no need to dismount the frame. The protective sheet comprises a strip allowing the sheet to be flexed outwardly to change the display. The display assembly further comprises at least one frame cover which is removably connected to the frame member. The display assembly may be configured to allow the posters to be viewed from both sides.

Abstract: A scroll system and method. The scroll system includes a core that has two end walls that are preferably disc-shaped. A slot that detachably couples a stack of writing material is disposed within the core. The writing materials need not be accessed sequentially but are randomly accessible. The writing materials are also rollable around the core and can be unwound from said core for use.

Abstract: A display is provided that includes a plurality of panels that are disposed for movement about a single flipping edge only. The panels may each be flipped manually about said flipping edge from a first position in which one face of the panel faces front, to a second position in which an opposite face of that panel faces front. The display includes at least one set of two panels, which panels are disposed such that their flipping edges include an angle so as to extend at least partially transversely relative to each other, and such that one of their positions at least partially overlaps.

Abstract: Flat panel display mounts configured to rotate about a vertical axis and at least substantially maintain rigidity about a horizontal axis comprise a mounting member configured to receive a flat panel display thereon, and an arm member attached to the mounting member. The arm member including at least one hinge on at least one of the coupling members. Methods of forming a flat panel display mount are disclosed. A modular sign including a housing, at least one sign panel, and a flat panel display mount is also disclosed.

Abstract: A display system includes a binder, a header, a retaining bracket and an extension assembly. The binder includes a plate, a plurality of sheets and an attachment assembly. The plate has a front surface, a rear surface and an edge. The attachment assembly secure the sheets at the front surface of the plate and maintains and displays information. The header includes indicia and is adapted to be positioned in a retracted position where the header is substantially obscured from view by the plate and an extended position where the header extends substantially from the edge of the plate. The retaining bracket is attached to the rear surface of the plate. The extension assembly is adapted to engage the retaining bracket to maintain the header in the extended position.

Abstract: A system for printing a multiple leaf object for a client comprises: a first picture storage medium containing a client's pictures; a second picture storage medium containing advertisements; means allowing a client to select which of said client's pictures are required for printing; means for opting for one of a first collation option of client selected pictures at a first price and a second collation option of client selected pictures and advertisements at a second price; and means for printing a multiple leaf object according to one of said collation options.

Abstract: A safety unit for use on vehicles such as school buses. In one embodiment, a housing is provided for the drive motor and related elements for moving a stop sign on the side of the bus between its retracted and extended positions. The housing has a removable cover to provide access to the drive motor and related elements, and the stop sign is mounted on a driveshaft that extends through a single opening in the bottom wall of the housing. In a second embodiment the safety unit is integrated with an access panel on the school bus.

Abstract: A display system for wall or table use which incorporates multiple two-sided display panels that allow either face of the panels to be viewed and to lie parallel with adjacent panels when rotated 180 degrees from one side of the device to the other is disclosed. Suitable for home, office, or commercial use, the construction of the device presents a decorative appearance and provides for display of multiple images or small objects, or a combination of small objects and images. The construction of the device allows the device to be wall mounted or attached to a base and used as table display. The device can be economically configured for portrait or landscape orientation of popular sized displays. Using the same components, customized versions can be economically fabricated. A variety of materials can be used to construct the display system.

Abstract: A display sign has cards that fold on a hinge to display different numerals. An upper latch retains cards in an upper position overlying an upper edge of the cards. The latch has a retaining member that rotates between an open position and a locked position. A lock assembly for the retaining member has a threaded member that is rotatable between a locked position, which prevents movement of the retaining member, to an unlocked position, which allows the retaining member to rotate.

Abstract: A hand-held message board for displaying messages, includes: (a) a generally rigid dry erase board having an erasable front writing surface; (b) a means of holding the message board by hand; (c) separate pages, each movably affixed to an upper edge of the dry erase board, each page having a pre-printed message or sign on it; and (d) fastener means for removably attaching the pages to the upper edge of the dry erase board; wherein the individual pages are flippable between the front surface and the rear surface of the dry erase board.

Abstract: A photo display unit (100) comprising a casing (10) having an open side (12), a lid (20) pivotably connected to the casing (10) for closing and revealing the open side (12), and a stack of frames (30) contained within the casing (10) for holding respective photographs, pictures or the like. Each frame (30) is individually pivotable along its plane into and out of the casing (10) through the open side (12) between a storage position and a display position. A movable selector (70) is provided at the lid (20) for selectively engaging any one of the frames (30) and enabling the lid (20) to pivot the selected frame (30) out of the casing (10).

Abstract: A lap counter device used to show swimmers how many laps they have swum. The device includes a manual, flip-style lap counter and a rigid, planar body with an upward extended neck with a threaded bore formed therein that attaches to an elongated pole. The planar body has parallel front and back surfaces designed to hold lap counter pages in a vertical position adjacent to the edge of the pool when the planar body is held upright. The pole acts as a handle for an assistant to hold the planar body at or below the waterline while standing next to the pool. The planar body has adjustment knobs located one pair on the front surface and one pair on the back surface. During use, the pages of the lap counter are vertically positioned on the planar body so that the upper slots formed on the pages are aligned around the adjustment knobs on both sides of the planar body.

Abstract: A sign for temporary attachment to a stranded vehicle includes a framework having upright tubular members through which elastic cords may be extracted for the purpose of sign attachment to a vehicle. Looped segments of the cords permit adjustment of cord lengths to accommodate a wide range of vehicle sizes while cord locks limit the passage of the looped cords through the upright frame members. The cords additionally serve to couple the upright frame members to horizontal frame members. A collection of sign panels are swingably supported on a horizontal frame member to permit display of the appropriate message.

Abstract: A device for storage and display of photographs consisting of a housing with front frame and a spindle containing photo envelopes supported mid-way across the front frame. The spindle is formed in unique manner to carry a large plurality of photo envelopes by heat welding each envelope to the spindle in close spacing. Each envelope contains two photos back-to-back, and rotation, either manually or motor controlled, indexes intermittent display of the successive photos with two photos always in view in the frame.

Abstract: An improved photo display device of the type having a housing with frame and double photograph envelope providing dual photo viewing as presented within the frame, a first improvement consisting of an alternative picture rotating mechanism that includes both a manual ratcheting system on one side of the housing and a motor drive or automatic ratcheting system on the other side, and a second improvement that consists of a unitary housing/frame formation that receives a spindle assembly directly through the front frame which is then secured by side entry and snap-fit of right and left ratcheting knob assemblies.

Abstract: This invention relates to an improved design associated with an album whose appearance evidences that of prebound construction and the method for the fabricating thereof such that there is able to be created an album of as many pages as desired, each page capable of being interlocked by means of an interconnecting spinal component affixed as part of each and every page such that upon the interconnecting of said spinal members of each and every page, there is achieved the appearance of a prebound album along with having the structural integrity of same but which has in fact the capability of being selectively assembled to any desired number of pages. Additionally, each page is constructed so as to permit the insertion on to each surface thereof an item to be displayed, be it a picture, or otherwise, such that there is achieved as an overall appearance as to each and every page an aesthetically appealing display along with a consistently uniform flat surface.

Abstract: A folding picture frame comprising a rectangular housing and a rectangular front picture panel hinged along one side of the housing and normally folded against the housing in face-to-face relation unfolds to one side to reveal a second picture of approximately twice the size of the front panel picture and expose a plurality of selectively displayable pictures concealed within the picture frame and unfoldable by hinge means in the direction of the unfolded front picture panel. The front picture panel hinge and the concealed picture hinge means are such that each of the selected interior pictures, when unfolded for display, lies in a substantially flat plane.
