  • Patent number: 9854926
Abstract: A framing kit includes a frame body, a plurality of printable sheets, and an alignment tool. Each printable sheet has a pre-cut frame sticker with a size corresponding to the picture frame body such that an item being mounted is viewable through a frame sticker window when the frame sticker is attached to the picture frame body. The frame is customized by printing images, patterns and text on the frame sticker of one of the sheets in a characteristic style suited to the item being mounted and then attaching the frame sticker to the frame body. The alignment tool has a recess with walls and an elevated floor against which the picture frame body and the frame sticker register for alignment when attaching the printed frame sticker to the frame body. New frame stickers may be printed to replace the frame sticker attached to the frame body. For example, a new frame sticker may be created in order to mount a different item in the frame body.

  • Patent number: 6550172
Abstract: A screen border has a plurality of chambers that are arranged around the perimeter of the border. The chambers are adapted to receive appearance-changing objects, such as image-bearing strips or decorative, three-dimensional objects, therein. Appearance-changing objects may be easily inserted into and withdrawn from the interior of the chambers through access areas provided on the border. The border may be integrally formed into a housing, or it may be removably or permanently attached to an existing housing. A hinged connection may be incorporated into the construction of the border so that the border may be temporarily pivoted away from the screen to allow a user to gain access to controls or the like positioned behind the border.

  • Patent number: 6510631
Abstract: A picture frame assembly has a border with recesses for holding coins. The border consists of an internally mounted framing component having a plurality of circular recesses formed therein. The internal edges of the framing component are designed to slightly overlap the edges of the picture or photo to be framed, while the external edges are designed to fit under the external border of the frame. A backing member immediately adjacent the framing component cooperates with the apertures formed in the framing component to create recessed into which coins may be placed. The date of the coins coincides with the date of the photo or picture and thus provide an indication of the date of the photo or picture. The backing member is held in position relative to the framing component by a clamp, which also serves to bind the frontal border and glass plate in position thereby completing the frame assembly.

  • Patent number: 6510638
Abstract: A picture frame for supporting and displaying a photograph or other similar item includes a frame body having a plurality of individual frame members which are affixed together. The frame body is constructed of metal and is shaped to define a center opening in which the photograph is positioned. A transparent glass plate is mounted onto the frame body over the center opening to protect the photograph without impeding visibility. For decorative purposes, text is shaped from a soft metal and is soldered onto the frame body around the center opening. In addition, a plurality of colored glass panels are mounted onto the frame body around the center opening. Furthermore, a plurality of flowers are disposed between a pair of spaced apart glass panels which, in turn, are mounted onto the frame body around the center opening.

  • Publication number: 20020116852
Abstract: The invention is created by taking photographs and introducing them into a computer by either scanning hardcopies or directly from a digital format. The photos are then arranged in a way to allow the colors or patterns to flow around an opening in the center in which a removable photo or item can be placed. Once an appropriate pattern is achieved, the image is printed onto a glossy photo quality paper and then adhered to matte board. The center is then removed using a beveled cutter in order to display the depth of the matte board. The final photo matte is a blended image of photos that depicts a story told with photos rather than words.

  • Patent number: 6402878
Abstract: A process for making a picture frame includes the step of printing border art and registration marks on a piece of sheet material, such as paper, and marking a laser cut path on the printed sheet of material and then zone coating an adhesive onto the sheet material over the printed artwork. The process includes attaching the sheet material to a transparent polymer sheet, cutting the printed sheet material along the marked cut path to form a cutout in the printed sheet and removing the cutout portion of the printed sheet material which does not have adhesive applied thereto. The transparent polymer sheet is heated and folded to form a backing for the picture frame. The process can also utilize a zone coating of ultraviolet activated adhesive applied over the printed artwork, then passing the polymer sheet having the printed sheet attached thereto through a pair of rollers for removing air bubbles and directing ultraviolet light through the polymer sheet onto the adhesive to activate the adhesive.

  • Patent number: 6395125
Abstract: A process for making a picture frame includes the step of printing border art and registration marks on a piece of transparent sheet material, such as vinyl or polycarbonate plastic sheet material, while leaving a center window portion transparent. Then making a laser cut path in a computer digital file for the printed transparent sheet material for cutting the outside path of the border art and then coating an adhesive onto the transparent sheet material to cover the printed artwork and transparent center window. The process includes attaching the transparent sheet material having the printed border surrounding a transparent center window onto a transparent polymer picture frame member, cutting the transparent sheet of material along the computer stored cutout path on the outer edge of the border art to form an outer border on the transparent material and transparent picture frame member. The transparent polymer sheet is heated and folded to form a backing for the picture frame.
