  • Patent number: 5169252
Abstract: A cleaning implement is provided with an internal valve for automatic water shut-off which can be regulated by hand. The implement connects to a conventional water supply, for example, a garden hose. When the valve is open, water is supplied through a removable sponge or brush to a surface to be cleaned. The valve is opened when two portions of the implement are pivoted with respect to each other. This can be done by pressing the sponge or brush against a surface to be cleaned, pivoting the two portions of the implement and thereby opening the valve. Alternatively, the two portions can be held by handles, one in either hand, and pivoted to open and close the valve. An opening is provided in the brush or sponge to allow water to stream from a nozzle to the surface to be cleaned, unobstructed. A soap dispenser is also incorporated into the implement. The nozzle and soap dispenser direct fluid from the user when the implement is held in the hands. The implement may be used with other fluids not water.

A bristle assembly and flexible tapered insert are confined in sealing engagement in the applicator, the flexible insert having a plurality of capillary holes extending from an upper chamber to bottom openings aligned with a plurality of V-shaped slots. The V-shaped slots are supported by tapered ribs terminating at the slot ends, and the flexible insert is tapered to a plurality of closed ends bridging the shaped slots. The handle of the applicator is adapted for connection to a source of pressurized liquid and an interior liquid flow path is provided through a valve chamber and into flow communication with the capillary openings through the flexible insert.

  • Patent number: 4540301
Abstract: A peristaltic-type pump having an intake which may be conveniently connected to a liquid coating source includes an impeller having a pair of rollers. Rotation of the impeller causes the rollers to progressively compress a length of tubing in the pump. This compression creates suction to draw the coating material into the pump and pressure to drive a flow of coating to a handle attached to an applicator. The handle includes flow control devices which may be selectively operated to supply coating to the applicator only as required. During periods of non-flow the coating pressure is sensed to deactivate the pump when the pressure exceeds a preselected limit. Deactivation of the pump saves energy and prolongs a life of the pump.

  • Patent number: 4171169
Abstract: A portable washer of lightweight and economical construction is characterized by a body portion having a handle for being held by a user thereof. The body is connectable with a supply of water, and a flexible conduit at an end of the body supports a brush for scrubbing articles such as dishes and the like, and enables the brush to be variously positioned to contact all surfaces of an article being cleaned, irrespective of the configuration of the article. A compartment within the body stores a supply of soap, and a valve on the body is operable by a user of the washer to control both a flow of water through the body and from the brush and introduction of soap into the water, whereby either a soapy washing solution or clear rinse water may be applied to the article being cleansed.

  • Patent number: 3969028
Abstract: Brush-pen of round and flat hair and permanent liquid ink of adjustable flow for drawing and writing, including a container on the upper part of the outer body of the ferrule. This container is provided with a cap with a controlling device, into which the desired liquid ink is introduced. The ink goes through an orifice of the upper part of an outer cylinder of the ferrule and through a winged guide cap of an inner cylinder of the ferrule. The inner cylinder contains a piston provided with a pressure shaft controlled by the controlling device of the cap so as to provide adjustment of the passage of ink through a hollow needle of the ferrule. This maintains a constant flow of ink to the hair (brush) tip in the desired amount, doing without the need of inkpots. The alternating downwards and upwards movement of the piston keeps the channel constantly clean.

  • Patent number: 3933155
Abstract: The present invention relates to a pressure injection mechanism of the type which, when triggered, expresses predetermined dosages of liquid under high pressure from a dosage orifice at speeds enabling the same to penetrate an injection site which may be the skin of a human or an animal, the stalk or other surface of a plant and so forth. The apparatus is characterized by a novel triggering mechanism which assures that the apparatus may be triggered to effect a dosage administering cycle only when the dosage orifice is positioned against the injection site with a predetermined orientation.
