Abstract: A protective shell for a cosmetic container including a tubular topshell and a tubular baseshell for maintaining the moisture level of a cosmetic housed therein. The tubular topshell and tubular baseshell each include a mating portion and a mating member. The mating portion of the topshell is defined by an outwardly tapered sidewall portion. The mating portion of the baseshell is defined by an inwardly tapered sidewall portion. The topshell is placed on the baseshell and a seal is formed between the mating portions. The topshell mating member according to one embodiment is defined by a circumferential rib and the baseshell mating member is defined by a circumferential channel which receives the topshell rib. According to a second embodiment, the topshell mating member is defined by a circumferential band of depending projections and the baseshell mating member is defined by a circumferential band of upending projections for mating with the topshell depending projections.

Abstract: A pomade stick applicator having a swiveling pomade advancing and retracting mechanism has a two-part base-cap container and virtually air-tight sealing features. These include an interfering snap fit between the container base and the longitudinally slotted inner body, and a resiliently deformable annular seal between the lower end of the helical internal cam and the inner body. This annular seal is urged into telescoping deformed sealed engagement by the container cap applied by the user. The interior of the cap seals the upper end of the shell fixed to the cam, and also provides an inner skirt interferingly telescoped with the upper end of the inner body, prevening swiveling. These seals enclose the pomade stick, blocking the escape of volatiles.

Abstract: A lipstick dispenser includes a tubular element with a slideway in which there is mounted a cup for receiving a stick of lipstick and at least one stub engaged in a slideway, a cylindrical casing in the wall of which is provided at least one helical slot, this casing being fitted tightly onto the tubular element, the stub being engaged in a slot, and an outer sleeve in which the casing is immobilized. The tubular element can turn relative to the casing and sleeve. A tongue, flexible in the radial direction, is provided on one of the casing and the tubular element components and is designed to interact with an inclined bearing surface provided on the other component. The tongue and the inclined bearing surface are situated, in the axial direction, beyond the lower end of the outer sleeve.

Abstract: The present invention provides retention devices for securing an expendable mass, e.g., lipsticks, deodorants, anti-perspirants, glue or the likes, to an expellant holder by providing one or more spikes fixedly attached to a receiving cup of the expellant holder such that the one or more spikes penetrate the expendable mass to anchor the mass to the receiving cup.

Abstract: A lipstick holder is composed of a main base provided at one end thereof with a central base. The central base is fastened with a slide seat from the bottom so as to enable the slide seat together with the central base to be fastened with the main base, and enable the top end of the central base to be rather high in an appropriate distance at the top end of the main base. A cap is further fastened with the main base at one end thereof. The thread in the inner wall of the main base is engaged with the protuberance piece of the slide seat. The retaining ring of the central base is engaged with the halved ring of the main base.

Abstract: A cosmetic dispenser containing an elevator cup carrying a solid cosmetic product, a sleeve in which the cup is axially advanceable and retractable, and an operating shell turnably mounted on the sleeve. The sleeve has either two or else three equispaced longitudinal slots and the elevator cup has two or else three equispaced lugs passing through and projecting from the slots of the sleeve. The operating shell has two or else three internal spiral tracks respectively engaged by the lugs of the cup to propel the latter in response to relative turning between the shell and sleeve. The arrangement is such that the cup is advanced and retracted by balanced forces applied at uniformly spaced circumferential locations about the cup. The cup has resilient fingers that are forced inward by the sleeve, forming a collet which firmly holds the lipstick pomade. The sleeve has a lateral spur track which holds the cup captive in the sleeve.

Abstract: The present invention is an airtight case comprising a base for receiving a stick-type product, a hollow cap, and a hollow plug sleeve inserted within the cap. The plug sleeve has an open end and a closed end, the closed end being a flexible bellows.This case is useful in reducing the adverse effects caused by the pressure build-up associated with sealing or airtight cases. When the cap of the present invention is placed on the base of the case the bellows expands in response to the compressing of the air located within the inner chamber of the case, thus preventing the cap from being pulled away from the base. Also, when the cap is removed, the bellows contracts and prevents the product from being pulled out of the base.

Abstract: "Lock" for this impel/repel lipstick container comprises a downward extension at the lower end of the slot in the inner body. The extension is adapted to receive the pomade cup lug and is partly defined by a margin portion facing in opposition to the direction in which the lug is moved when the cam is turned to raise the cup. When a user attempts to propel the pomade upward by turning the cam relative to the inner body, the cam track merely forces the lug against the margin portion of the extension. To unlock, the salesperson applies a tool upward into the base of the lipstick container to raise the pomade cup so that the lug moves upward out of the extension.

Abstract: A holder for a lipstick container is designed to improve the degree of attachment of the lipstick bar and to optimize the stability of the lipstick bar inside of the holder. A stop is established in the base of the holder to limit the insertion of the bar. The base is provided with a plurality of harpoons each having an outwardly directed tooth which determines a straight downwardly directed step. Opposite each harpoon is a respective chamfer which provides radial movement of the material of the lipstick bar in order to fill the grooves thus created by the harpoon teeth.

Abstract: A device for the packaging and application of a friable product presented in the form of a lipstick including a tubular element with slide(s), wherein there is slidably mounted a cup intended to receive the lipstick, the cup having at least one stub engaged in a corresponding slide delimited by two longitudinal edges. A cylindrical shell provided with an internal helical groove has the tubular element freely rotatable inside it, with the stubs of the cup engaging in the helical grooves of the shell. Soft friction between the cup and the tubular element is ensured by a tangential elastic deformation of at least one of the longitudinal edges of a slide during the passing of the stub whose width is slightly larger than the width of the slide.

Abstract: A cosmetic container, such as for lipstick, having an upwardly biased cosmetic carrier for creating torque. A biasing member such as a spring is provided and is secured, according to one embodiment, at its bottom end to the bottom portion of the inner sleeve and at its upper end to the cosmetic carrier. According to an alternative embodiment an inner sleeve is unnecessary and a base is provided. The spring is connected at its lower end to the base and at its upper end to the cosmetic carrier.

Abstract: A retainer cylinder in which a cosmetic stick is fitted and held is provided with an engagement projection on a side surface therof and inserted in a guide cylinder so that the retainer cylinder can be moved slidingly in the vertical direction. A side wall of the guide cylinder is provided with an axially elongated guide groove through which the engagement projection is passed, and an annular locking recess is formed around the portion of an outer surface of the guide cylinder which is below a lower end of the guide groove. This guide cylinder is inserted in a sleeve so that the guide cylinder can be turned. The sleeve is provided at its lower portion with a locking rib engageable with the locking recess, whereby the sleeve is combined with the guide cylinder so that the sleeve does not come off from the guide cylinder, the sleeve being provided in its inner surface with a helical knurled thread having innumerable projections and recesses.

Abstract: A container for dispensing solid crystal deodorant including an elongated outer tubular member having both of its ends open and an elongated slot longitudinally disposed on its inside surface. An elongated inner tubular member, with at least one open end, is rotably held within the outer tubular member. The inner tubular member has helical grooves. Positioned inside the inner tubular member is a holder suitable for holding a solid crystal deodorant product to extend out from the container. The holder has tabs inserted through the helical grooves and into the elongated slot. The holder also has a plurality of projections extending from its periphery which contact an indentation on the external surface of the crystal deodorant to hold the solid crystal deodorant onto the holder.

The cosmetic carrier includes a tubular sidewall defining a cosmetic receiving receptacle. The reinforcing flange is positioned within the cosmetic receiving receptacle of the cosmetic carrier. The cosmetic carrier also includes a pair of radially extending lugs extending outwardly from diametrically opposing surfaces of the sidewall. The reinforcing flange extends radially inwardly from the carrier sidewall so as to oppose the outwardly extending carrier lugs. Thus, the reinforcing flange is positioned within the cosmetic receiving receptacle.

Abstract: A lipstick swivel mechanism has a brake function, by which push back of the lipstick when the lipstick is being pressed is effectively hindered. An additional protrusion and a corresponding beveled helical groove are provided on the inner body and the spiral of the dispenser. When the reaction force of applying the lipstick to the consumer's lips pushes the lipstick cup down the dispenser, this reaction force is transmitted to the protrusion and the beveled helical groove so as to increase the frictional force, which impedes the relative rotation of inner body and spiral, between them; thereby push back of the lipstick cup is obstructed. Besides, the beveled helical groove is specially designed so as to make such brake function effective across the entire travel of the lipstick cup.

The cosmetic container may be extended and retracted for the application and storage of the cosmetic. The inner sleeve includes a shank defining a longitudinal slot for receiving lugs extending radially outward from the cosmetic carrier and a manually rotatable base. The shank includes at least one radially outwardly facing rib extending circumferentially along at least a portion of the shank. Preferably a plurality of ribs extend from the inner sleeve and are positioned in a flexible region thereof. The outer diameter of the ribs is at least equal to the inner diameter of the outer sleeve to create torque therebetween.

The shell cover includes at least one radially inwardly extending rib extending along an inner surface of the cover. The rib cooperates with a locking member extending radially outward from the shell base so that the shell cover is moveable between a locked and unlocked position. In the locked position, rotational and axial movement of the shell cover relative to the shell base is limited to prevent accidental removal of the cover from the base.

Abstract: In a cosmetic container an outer body portion surrounds a main body portion and is rotatable with respect thereto. Rotation of the main body moves a cosmetic holder up and down within the main body. An insert sleeve is fixedly secured to the outer body and surrounds the main body. The upper portion of the outer body is formed to provide an integral active portion positioned between the main body and the insert sleeve with gaps therebetween. The active portion of the outer body is provided with an inwardly projecting circular rib at an intermediate portion thereof which rotatably contacts the outer peripheral surface of the main body. The opposite end of the active portion of the main body elastically engages with the inner peripheral portion of the insert sleeve. Thus, the active portion of the outer body will act as a spring and can be deformed appropriately within the space between the main body and the insert sleeve.

Abstract: The present invention is a case for a stick product that prevents the release of the stick product from the holder cup the case comprises an inner sleeve having a wall and a longitudinal track within the wall. The longitudinal track has a first upper lateral segment and a second upper lateral segment, said first upper lateral segment having a ramp. An outer sleeve is fitted about the inner sleeve so as to be able to rotate with respect to the inner sleeve, said outer sleeve having an inner wall, an outer wall, and a helical track along the inner wall. A lug is attached to the outer surface and extends through the longitudinal track to engage the helical track. A bellows portion is located below the lug and comprises part of the shell of the holder cup, said bellows capable of occupying a first stretched position and a second contracted position.

Abstract: The present invention is a holder cup for a stick-type product that prevents the release of the stick-type product from the holder cup. The holder cup comprises a hollow housing which is closed at one end and configured to receive a stick-type product at the other end, said hollow housing having an inner wall and an outer wall, the inner wall containing one or more longitudinal grooves, each longitudinal groove having a first end which is tapered towards the center of the holder cup and a second end which passes through the closed end of the housing to form an aperture. A push-up is then provided, which comprises a base and one or more rods projecting axially outwardly from the base, said rods being positioned to align and dimensioned to fit within the longitudinal groove, and said rods having a length greater than that of the longitudinal groove.

Abstract: The present invention is a holder cup for a stick-type product which comprises a hollow housing which is configured to receive a stick-type product. The hollow housing has a wall which contains at least one aperture. A tab capable of occupying a first open position or second locked position is pivotally mounted within an aperture. The tab has an outer cam surface which extends past the outside of the wall of the housing, and has a notch which fits the wall of the housing when the tab is in the second position. When the tab is caused to pivot toward the center of the holder cup the tab punctures the product and locks in place, thus preventing the release of the product from the holder cup.

Abstract: A lipstick container cover has a cup-shaped insert which sealingly telescopes over a sealed base assembly. The cover insert has an inward peripheral rib which makes line sealing contact with the sleeve. A bump formed on the sleeve raises the rib to vent pressure caused either by pushing the cover on the lipstick container or pressure build-up due to vaporizing solvent after the cover is fully installed. Venting the pressure in the container avoids the lifting off of the cover after installation. Otherwise such lifting unseals the container.

Abstract: A cosmetic carrier for a cosmetic container is designed so that the carrier may be top-filled or bottom-filled. The cosmetic carrier includes a cosmetic receiving cup defined by sidewalls and a base. The base of the cosmetic carrier includes a plurality of displaceable members which may be displaced upward permitting the cosmetic carrier to be bottom-filled but wherein downward displacement of the members is limited to permit the cosmetic carrier to be top-filled. A stop associated with the base limits downward movement and a hinge line on the upper surface of the base permits upward displacement of the displaceable members of the base.

Abstract: A mechanism for extending and retracting a cosmetic pomade that has a base with a raised portion and a shelf, at least one aperture positioned near the shelf, and a middle portion having a plurality of slots. The mechanism also includes a cup for holding the cosmetic pomade. The cup is positioned within, and has protrusions for engaging the slots of, the base. A spiral guide member is positioned coaxially with the base. The spiral guide member has a helically-shaped track and a substantially smooth portion or extension. An insert is positioned within the base. The insert has at least one radially projecting tab that extends through the at least one aperture positioned near the shelf of the base to contact the substantially smooth extension of the spiral guide member. Preferably, the insert includes two or more tabs and each one of them is made from a flexible material having a relatively low coefficient of friction relative to the material of the spiral guide member.

The compound surface also includes a line of intersection defining the portions which is, itself, angularly positioned relative to a plane normal to the longitudinal axis.

The cosmetic carrier is positioned within the inner sleeve wherein the ribs of one member cooperate with the ribs of the other. When the inner sleeve is rotated so as to extend or retract the cosmetic carrier, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve engage the outwardly extending ribs of the cosmetic carrier. When the cosmetic carrier is fully extended or fully retracted, the inwardly extending ribs of the inner sleeve and the outwardly extending ribs of the carrier are disengaged.

A stair or step and a spiral groove are provided on the forward inner surface and the rearward inner surface of a tubular cap, respectively, with an inside diameter of the rear part of the spiral groove being larger. A bearing part is brought into contact with a lead tank provided inside a forward art of the tubular part so that the forward part of the outer sleeve is movable in the axial direction and is locked in the turning direction against a rearward inner surface of the outer sleeve. The rearward part of the tubular body is provided with a slit, holding pieces of a stick-shaped object holder slidably inserted in said slit. A stick-shaped object is held by the holding pieces, and the projection is provided on each holder engaged with the spiral groove of the tubular cap.

Abstract: A cosmetic extrusion case includes a chuck holding a cosmetic, an intermediate cylinder into which the chuck is inserted, a base cylinder into which the intermediate cylinder is inserted. By forming helical grooves in the inner surfaces of the intermediate cylinder and the base cylinder, respectively, the case has a dual structural extruding mechanism. The helical groove of the intermediate cylinder extends to the open end of the intermediate cylinder to allow a projection of the chuck to easily engage with the helical groove from the open end, thereby smoothly inserting the chuck into the intermediate cylinder.

Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser permits filling of a dispenser cartridge and retraction thereof, but is subsequently inoperable until assembly with a master case. The cartridge includes a cam sleeve, innerbody and elevator cup. The locking of the cartridge is obtained by lower leftwardly extending track segments at the lower end of innerbody longitudinal track segments, which trap and retain the elevator cup when it is retracted after the cartridge is filled with a cosmetic stick. When the cartridge is assembled with the master base, a stem in the master base pushes against the elevator cup to urge it out of it locked position to permit the elevator cup to be freely movable along the axial path.

A cam follower lug of an elevator cup will track into and be trapped by and between the horizontal step and the lower end of the longitudinal track. This locks the innerbody to the cam sleeve to prevent longitudinal sliding of the innerbody relative to the cam sleeve when, e.g., a lipstick cover is removed in an assembled cosmetic container, which cover removal might leave an undesirable gap between the decorative shells surrounding the innerbody and cam sleeve.

Abstract: There is provided a device for dispensing a semi-solid or highly viscous product, such as a cosmetic product or pomade, which tends to vaporize and shrink with the passage of time. The device includes a support member to prevent the product from moving axially, radially or otherwise undesirably within the support member. The inner wall of the support member includes a plurality of radially curved and inwardly extending ribs that support the product therein without fracturing the product when it is inserted into the support member. The ribs support the product to prevent the product from moving axially and orbitally with respect to the support member.

Abstract: The lipstick tube includes a replaceable lipstick seat and a housing. The lipstick seat has an inner tube which has a lower outer rim provided with at least a toothed ring while a base of the housing is provided with a clamping seat. The clamping seat has curved urging plates for clamping the inner tube inserted thereinto to a suitable extent. The lipstick seat may be secured within the base of the housing and may be lifted out of or lowered into the lipstick tube.

Abstract: A lipstick comprising a cartridge and a base wherein the base is formed with upward latches which snap barb fashion over an annular shoulder in the lower end of the inner of the cartridge. The pomade cup has a downward projection to hold the latches outward. Specifically, the cup has a downward "stovepipe" which, when the cup is retracted, fits inside the latches to prevent them from springing inward on impact and releasing the cartridge.

The package has three components: a cover, the retaining member and a handle. The handle is removably connected to the retaining member, so that upon using up the product on the retaining member the handle can be removed and attached to another retaining member filled with product (which is, e.g., sold as a refill assembly). Molten product is filled through a fill hole in the retaining member into a cavity defined between the retaining member and cover; the retaining member has bosses for anchoring the product on the retaining member, and has vent channels extending between the bosses and the fill hole to displace trapped air from the bosses when filling the cavity.

Abstract: A cylindrical cosmetic container includes an inner tubular member (1) formed with axially extending slots (2); an outer tubular member (7) formed with a spiral groove (9) and rotatably fitted to an outer circumferential surface of the inner tubular member; and a movable cup member (11) for mounting thereon a cylindrical cosmetic (15) to be accommodated within the inner tubular member, and the movable cup member having projection pins (13) attached on an outer circumferential surface thereof and engaged with the spiral groove of the outer tubular member through the slots of the inner tubular member. The inner tubular member (1) is formed with a bridge portion (101) at a base end portion thereof; and the bridge portion is further formed with a projection portion (103) which is brought into elastic contact with the base end portion of the outer tubular member.

Abstract: A lipstick article is provided which houses a lipstick with a water content of from 0.5 to 30% by weight. The lipstick is packaged in a casing including a base, an elongated cylindrical inner body received in the base and containing the lipstick, a device for elevating-retracting the lipstick from within the inner body, a hollow elongated cap fitting over the inner body, and a hollow elongated plug sleeve inserted within the cap and formed of a material more flexible than a material forming the cap, the plug sleeve sealingly contacting an outer wall of the inner body to prevent evaporation of water from the lipstick.

Abstract: A case for pasty cosmetic, pharmaceutical or like products comprising an outer casing co-operating with a coaxial inner casing in which is axially slidably mounted a cup carrying a lipstick so that the relative rotation of both casings results in an axial displacement of said cup, the inner casing being made fast to a base through the medium of a tube provided in the bottom wall of the base comprising cogging elements joined by ring portions which comprise on their outer faces ribs for co-operation with flutes formed on the inner surface of a skirt provided at the lower part of the inner casing, this device being applicable to the fastening of an inner casing upon a base within a lipstick case.

Abstract: A cosmetic applier comprises a container assembly including a tubular sleeve, a cup holder reciprocable inside the sleeve and a cam for raising and retracting the cup holder. A pomade cup assembly includes a cup carrying pomade and an inverted cup-shaped transparent shroud about the pomade and connected to the top of the cup, the shroud having a diameter at least as great as the inner diamater of the sleeve. Interfitting fastener parts are on the cup and holder. In the preferred version, the fastener is of the permanently locking type. The selected pomade cup may be snapped into the holder and the holder and cup retracted by turning the cam so that the shroud, engaging the sleeve and spread by it, pops off the cup and is freed for easy disposal.

Abstract: A cosmetic preparation dispenser is provided that has a resilient tab formed on the lower end of the innerbody that presses against the cam sleeve to provide a desirable swivel drag, and which tab is prevented from undesirable deformation that reduces the swivel torque by providing a relaxation zone in the cam sleeve where the tab can recall its original shape. The relaxation zone is preferably a thin walled section of the cam sleeve that is formed by the combination of a flat outer wall and a circular inner wall, which thin walled section is deformable by pressure from the tab when the tab is seated against the thin walled section. The tab presses against the cam sleeve which causes the cam sleeve to move up a bevelled shoulder to enhance swivel drag between the cam sleeve and a retaining lip on the innerbody. The bevelled shoulder also engages the cam sleeve when force is applied to the elevator.
