    Abstract: A binding device is provided which allows reduction in profile. A binding device 10 includes: a holding member 16 having a length which allows a plurality of openable-closable binding rings 12 and 14 to be disposed with a spacing therebetween; an operating member 18 secured inside the holding member 16; and an opening/closing member 40. The operating member 18 includes a pair of operating pieces 30 and 32 on which the binding rings 12 and 14 are secured. For housing the opening/closing member 40, an opening/closing member housing portion 36 is provided in a manner such as to be recessed from a reverse side, opposite to a surface on which the binding rings 12 and 14 are secured, towards the surface side.

    Abstract: A ring mechanism for retaining loose-leaf pages comprises a housing, hinge plates, and ring members mounted on the hinge plates for retaining pages on the mechanism. An actuating lever is pivotally mounted on the housing for engaging the hinge plates and pivoting them to selectively move the ring members between an open position and a closed position. A travel bar is operatively connected to the lever for selective movement between a position in which locking elements of the travel bar block the pivoting movement of the hinge plates and a position in which the travel bar allows the hinge plates to pivot. The lever is configured to deform when pivoting the hinge plates to close the ring members to delay movement of the travel bar and locking elements to the blocking position from the onset of pivoting motion of the hinge plates.

The fastener includes a circular anchor plate (38) and a vertically extending attachment post or eyelet (34). The post is a truncated cone of uniform taper. The anchor plate includes a circumferential reinforcing lip (48). The fastener is secured to the spine by a number of spurs (50) uniformly spaced about the circumference of the anchor plate. The eyelet extends perpendicular of the anchor plate and the binder mechanism seats on the eyelet by an opening (26, 28). The upper end of the eyelet is then deformed about the opening to secure the binder mechanism in place.

    Abstract: A ring binder (10) includes a ring metal (18) securable to a spine portion (16) of the binder. A spur eyelet (30) used for this purpose includes a post (32) one end (34) of which attaches to the ring metal. A plate (40) is formed at the other end of the post. Radiating outwardly from the underside of the plate are a plurality of concentrically formed spurs (50). Each spur has barbs (56) formed on an outer end (54) of the spur. To attach the ring metal to the spine, the spurs are pushed into the body of the spine. Thereafter, the barbs keep the eyelet from being pulled away from the body of the spine thereby preventing the ring metal from separating from the binder.

    Abstract: The binder mechanism for loose-leaf binders or file folders comprises a flat, oblong support plate on which are disposed at a standardized mutual distance at least two binder yokes, each consisting of a fixed yoke rod and pivotable yoke part, which is provided with a crank arm. The support plate is made of plastic and has a cavity which is open at its underside and in which the crank arms and the coupling rod are accommodated. The privotable yoke parts are mounted in mounting bushings integrally molded to the likewise plastic crank arms mounted in hollow cylindrical bearing lugs or bearing holes of the support plate. The coupling rod and/or at least one of the crank arms are associated with a releasable detent or locking device which arrests the movable yoke parts jointly in their pivoted position forming the yoke shape.
