Abstract: A binder mechanism includes a rotatable support having ring segments that can be locked in a closed configuration. The binder mechanism includes a horizontal and/or a flush mounted push button that opens and/or unlocks the rotatable support. The push button acts on a ramped slider that causes the rotatable support to rotate open. An over-center arrangement aids in maintaining the binder mechanism closed or opened.

Abstract: A safety ring binder mechanism helps prevent finger pinching by requiring simultaneous opposite movement of sliding actuators at both ends of the mechanism in order to open and close the rings. When the actuators are outermost, dimples on the actuators press the blades of the device against the housing, holding the rings open. When the actuators are pushed in, inclined tongues cam the ends of the blades downward, forcing the rings to close and holding them in a closed position.

Abstract: A paper binder for folders, the binder comprising a U shaped loop (2) to be attached to the folder (1) by a clip (6). The loop is in two parts, one part (4) being rotatable in the clip, and the other part (3) non-rotatable in the clip. The two parts are releasably attachable to each other to allow sheets of paper to be placed on the non-rotatable part.
Abstract: A fastener for fastening a paper retaining binder mechanism to an inner surface of a binder while remaining entirely concealed from an outer surface of the binder. The fastener includes an anchor plate and a post. The anchor plate defines first and second major surfaces. The first major surface is in confronting relation fastened to an inner surface of the binder. The post extends directly away from the second major surface of the anchor plate and serves to secure the binder mechanism to the inner surface of the binder. Another aspect of the present invention relates to a method for fastening an apertured paper retaining binder mechanism to the binder in a manner concealing the fasteners from an outer surface of the binder.
Abstract: The binder mechanism for loose-leaf binders or file folders comprises a flat, oblong support plate on which are disposed at a standardized mutual distance at least two binder yokes, each consisting of a fixed yoke rod and pivotable yoke part, which is provided with a crank arm. The pivotable yoke parts are operable jointly because they are interconnected by a coupling rod disposed in the support plate. The support plate is made of plastic and has a cavity which is open at its underside and in which the crank arms and the coupling rod are accommodated. The privotable yoke parts are mounted in mounting bushings integrally molded to the likewise plastic crank arms mounted in hollow cylindrical bearing lugs or bearing holes of the support plate. The coupling rod and/or at least one of the crank arms are associated with a releasable detent or locking device which arrests the movable yoke parts jointly in their pivoted position forming the yoke shape.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a binding mechanism for loose-leaf binder comprising, mounted on a support, at least two rings each constituted by a fixed vertical receiver pin, the upper end of which is hollow, a fixed, vertical, tubular hoop-guide and a movable hoop-shaped member engaged, in closed position, in the upper end of the pin and slidable vertically in the hoop-guide and pivoting in a plane parallel to the plane of the leaves, to come to open position. The simultaneous control of the movement of the hoops is effected by a slide provided with ramps, the lower ends of the hoops being engaged both in fixed ramps fast with the support and in the ramps for controlling the slide. The invention is particularly applicable to binders or folders for perforated leaves.
