Members Locked In Axial Alignment Patents (Class 403/102)
  • Patent number: 4125273
Abstract: The invention relates to a separable or foldable ski. The ski has separate sections pivotally joined together. Located at the joint is a coupling arrangement by means of which the corresponding section may be joined together. In addition, a stabilizing device is provided to join and stiffen the ski in the extended position in order to provide desirable rigidity and resiliency therein.

  • Patent number: 4110869
Abstract: A latching mechanism is described for removably mounting a handlebar to a lawn and yard implement. Also described is a powered lawn and yard implement for removing trash or like material from a lawn or yard and discharging the material into a wheeled pushcart. The implement includes a wheel supported housing to which the wheeled pushcart is releasably connected. A chute assembly directs trash from the housing into an upwardly open bin of the pushcart. The pushcart includes an elongated support roller and a pushbar assembly that facilitate independent movement of the pushcart assembly when detached from the housing. The housing includes a latching mechanism that may be operated from one side of the housing to secure or release the pushcart relative to the housing. Also associated with the latching mechanism is a deflector assembly that operates in response to operation of the latching assembly to open or close the discharge chute leading to the open bin.

  • Patent number: 4111217
Abstract: A support which includes two or more pole sections hingedly interconnected by a hinge permitting the support to be folded for storage purposes. At least one of the pole sections has a pair of portions disposed in telescopic relation for sliding movement providing a fast coarse adjustment to the length of the support. The sliding movement is lockable at various relative positions by a quick release coupling which, upon locking the sliding telescopic movement, converts to a screw thread fine adjustment for changing the length of the support. A releasable lock mechanism is also provided for locking the pole sections when they are in line in an end-to-end position.

  • Patent number: 4073455
Abstract: A tiltable bracket which includes a first elongated member and a second elongated member. The members are pivotally interconnected and are restrained in a position with their respective longitudinal axes aligned. The members are pivotally interconnected to provide for relative pivoting therebetween a predetermined angular distance. A stop is provided to prevent further pivoting beyond the predetermined annular distance without restricting return of the members to the position with their longitudinal axes aligned.

  • Patent number: 4067413
Abstract: A collapsible ladder for use as an emergency escapeway is described which has two side members between which rungs extend. The side members are each composed of a plurality of sections, which are pivoted to each other at overlapping ends. In one embodiment, the rungs extend between alternate pairs of the sections, while the intermediate sections are provided with fender spars which fold parallel with the section, and swing into position to space the ladder away from a wall, when the ladder is unfolded. The sections are held in place relative each other on unfolding of the ladder by a pin on one section received in an arcuate slot partially surrounding the pivot of the next section. In a modified embodiment each section has at each end adjacent the pivot a stud and a recess, which engage complimentary recesses and studs on the adjacent sections.

  • Patent number: 4045143
Abstract: A hitch structure for connecting in a swivelling mode implements, and particularly agricultural implements such as plows and the like, with pulling machines such as tractors. It comprises basically a guide attached to the pulling machine and, cooperating therewith, a supporting member for the end of the connecting arms of the implement. The supporting member is allowed to slide with respect to the guide in the pull force direction while concurrently rotating in a substantially horizontal plane. Locking means are provided which are effective to automatically prevent the supporting member from rotating when said implement is in its rest position.

  • Patent number: 3950817
Abstract: A quick release clamping assembly for connecting two components at least one of which has an arcuate shaped clamping surface. The assembly consists of a stem projecting from one of the components through the other component and a clamping nut mounted on the stem. The clamping nut is rotatable with respect to the stem between the clamping-in position in which it clamps the two components together in the released position in which one component is movable with respect to the other about the stem. The clamping nut has an underside directed towards the clamping surface of the first component. The underside of the clamping nut is formed to provide a clamping surface of a concave curvature corresponding to the convex curvature of the clamping surface of the first component and a release recess angularly disposed with respect to the clamping surface and extending inwardly with respect to the nut above the clamping surface of the clamping nut.
