Clamped Members Patents (Class 403/110)
  • Patent number: 4684140
Abstract: An extendible roller skate has a support structure constituted by two mutually telescopic parts. Releasable fixing means are provided for securing the support-structure parts in fixed relative positions corresponding to a desired length of skate. These fixing means comprise a series of notches provided on one support-structure part, and a cooperating toothed member mounted on the other part of the support structure. This toothed member is mounted for movement towards and away from the notches of the notched support-structure part, movement towards the notches being opposed by a spring. A cam-shaped lever is provided to press the toothed member into engagement with the notches. Operation of this lever enables the rapid securing together and release of the two parts of the support structure.

  • Patent number: 4585367
Abstract: A releasable locking device for frictionally engaging a bar member. The device includes a cam sleeve adapted to be adjustably positioned in selected locations along the bar member. The cam sleeve has an internal surface generally conforming in shape to the external surface of the bar member entirely along its length and the internal surface of the cam sleeve normally is dimensioned the same as or larger than the bar member so as to be slidably movable along the bar member for adjustably positioning the cam sleeve in a selected location. The cam sleeve is formed of a resilient material for selective radially uniform compressed frictional engagement with the external surface of the bar member. The device also includes a pair of cam collars adapted to be operably disposed in substantially coaxial relation on the cam sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4372285
Abstract: The ends of a compound bow tension cable are positively and adjustably anchored by an attachment bracket pivotally mounted upon the bow limb tips adjacent the eccentric wheels. The attachment bracket includes two somewhat similar components, elongated in nature, with one component pivotally attached relative the bow limb tip and the other component having a tension cable end fixed thereto. The two components are assembled in an overlapping arrangement with the juxtaposed faces thereof provided with mating adjustment elements such as transversely disposed teeth or serrations whereupon after selecting the appropriate relative longitudinal relationship between the two components, a releasable fastener is tightened to retain the mating adjustment elements in a fixed disposition insuring a rigid bracket member maintaining the selected tension upon the attached cable end.

  • Patent number: 4293270
Abstract: An excavator having a boom with slidably engaging base and beam parts is disclosed. The base part is mounted on a support part of the excavator for rotation about a horizontal axis; and a dipper arm which carries an excavating tool is pivotally suspended from the beam part. The base and beam parts are joined by channel section guides which permit sliding movement between the parts. A wedge member releasably fixes the relative position of the base and beam parts by wedgingly engaging both parts.

  • Patent number: 4252456
Abstract: A coupling device for container lashings comprises two tensioning members (1, 3; 11, 13) having coacting teeth (2, 12) and a clamping means (20) for keeping the members with the teeth (2, 12) in mesh. One flank of the teeth (2, 12) inclines at an angle (.alpha.) of between 95.degree. and 110.degree. to the tensional load direction (r) of the member. The other flank of the teeth inclines at an angle (.alpha.) of between 30.degree. and 50.degree. to the tensional load direction (r). The clamping means (20) is an eccentric clamping collar, surrounding the members (1, 11) in their toothed zone and in an open condition affording a clearance (s) between the top land planes of the elements (1, 11) in the same order of magnitude as the tooth depth (t) but in a closed condition the collar (20) maintains the teeth (2, 12) of the members in mesh. Each of the members have means (4, 14) against which a tensioning apparatus (30), e.g. a hydraulic tensioner can be applied.

  • Patent number: 4080080
Abstract: An adjustable leg assembly for use in any leg supporting application advantageously utilizing leg adjustability. The assembly includes a channel member, a telescoping member and a resilient spacer member. The resilient spacer member is fixed to the telescoping member and slidably mounted on the channel member. The telescoping member normally extends from one end of the channel member and can include a positive locking member engageable with the channel member at selected positions of adjustment. The resilient spacer member guides relative sliding movement while preventing direct contact between the channel and telescoping members. The assembly includes a pressure plate to urge the resilient spacer member into firm engagement with the channel member at selected times to frictionally secure the channel member to the telescoping member.

  • Patent number: 4076437
Abstract: A positive cam lock for a pair of telescoping extension poles. The cam support is mounted to the inner pole and carries a coaxially rotatably mounted idler cam and an eccentrically rotatably mounted locking cam. The outer pole has a number of inwardly extending splines which engage corresponding grooves on the locking and idler cams. When the outer pole is rotated, the eccentric cam will rotate and lock the outer pole at a desired axial position with respect to the inner pole while the idler cam prevents misalignment. A key mounted to the locking cam rides in a keyway on the cam support for preventing over-rotation of the locking cam.

  • Patent number: 4039262
Abstract: A locking device is provided for a potentiometer dial and knob which are disposed on the front panel of a printed circuit board. There is a radial flange on the shaft of the potentiometer dial and knob. The base or non-turning portion of the potentiometer is fixedly disposed on the panel and is fixedly disposed on the printed circuit board. A pressure plate member having an opening therein is disposed around the rotatable shaft. The flange may thus abut the pressure plate to prevent substantial axial motion of the shaft which might cause the potentiometer base to be loosened from the printed circuit board. A movable locking member having an opening is disposed around the outer portion of the shaft so that the flange is disposed between the pressure plate and the locking member. There are second aligned openings in each of the locking member and the pressure plate through which a screw protrudes. The threaded base of the screw is rotatably disposed in a correspondingly threaded hole in the panel.

  • Patent number: 3995963
Abstract: A locking member is positionable within an opening in the arm and is likewise engageable with a post and slidable jointly with the arm along the axis of the post to initiate a clamping force. A shaft having a handle assembly on one end is threadable in the locking member and hand rotatable to move the locking member laterally relative the post to secure the arm and post together at selected positions relative each other. A spring means in the handle assembly provides increased turning torque as the lock is tightened and at a preselected designing load, a brake member overrides the washer to prevent further hand tightening.
