Patent number: 6461089Abstract: A workpiece fixture for gear cutting machines and an interchangeable part for said workpiece fixture are adapted to each other. One end of the interchangeable part is used for fixation to the workpiece fixture and has on the one hand a face with at least one ramp extending in the circumferential direction relative to a rotation axis, and a locking element, the locking element cooperating with a locking element of the workpiece fixture so as to permit separation of the locked interchangeable part from the workpiece fixture only if a minimum force is overcome. The workpiece fixture has for its part in addition to the aforementioned locking element a surface formed cylindrically, at least in parts, relative to a rotation axis as a radial bearing surface for the interchangeable part, and a stop face or at least one radially protruding stop pin which cooperates axially with the ramp of the interchangeable part.Type: GrantFiled: July 20, 2001Date of Patent: October 8, 2002Assignee: Liebherr-Verzahntechnik GmbHInventors: Rolf Adrian, Horst Reidl

Publication number: 20020117371Abstract: The invention relates to a shaft-hub-connection with a shaft having an external face portion seating in a first bore portion (6) of the hub (3). A tensioning screw (19) is provided with a head which is supported on a support disk (11). The disk is non-movably held in an axial direction on the hub (3), in the tensioned condition where the threaded shank (22) sits in the threaded bore (18) of the shaft (14). A nut (23) is between the support disk (11) and the shaft (14). The nut (23) is on the threaded shaft (22). This nut (23) is non-movably retained on the shank. When actuating the tensioning screw (19) in a disconnecting direction the nut (23) abuts the support diskk (11), so that the hub (3) and the shaft (14) move away from each other and become separated.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 11, 2001Publication date: August 29, 2002Inventor: Wilhelm Schott

Patent number: 6406210Abstract: A novel captivated jackscrew structure is characterized by the formation of both an internal cavity (15) within one of the two bodies that are to be connected together and an access passage (17). One end of the cavity, located at one end of the body is open. The small diameter access passage extends through the other end of the body into the cavity's other end. A standard machine screw (1) is installed head (3) first and captured within the cavity, with the screw shaft (5) protruding from the end of the body (20). A barrier (7) is provided to prevent withdrawal of the machine screw head, but permit the screw head and shaft to move a limited distance axially within the cavity. A backstop (9), resembling an inverted cup with a hole in the bottom lies in inverted position in the cavity over the screw's head.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1998Date of Patent: June 18, 2002Assignee: TRW Inc.Inventors: Brian E. Patent number: 6298534Abstract: The present invention generally provides an apparatus and a method for separating components of a processing system which are mounted to one another and may adhere after being subjected to processing conditions. In one aspect, the invention provides a removal screw that can be threaded into a removal hole on a first component and an abutment screw that can be threaded into an attachment hole on a second component. To separate the first component from the second component, the abutment screw is first threaded into the attachment hole on the second or stationary component, and then the removal screw is threaded into the removal hole on the first component. An important aspect of this invention is that the removal screw does not contact, and damage, the contact surface between the first and second components to separate the components.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 1998Date of Patent: October 9, 2001Assignee: Applied Materials, Inc.Inventor: Talex Sajota

Patent number: 6257792Abstract: The invention is directed to a retaining ring for securing components along a shaft by transferring the compression load between the components, thereby preventing the adjacent components from separating. The retaining ring includes a pair of arcuate interlocking members having a first end, a second end, an inner wall and an outer wall. The outer wall includes a first surface and the inner wall includes a second surface thereby defining a thickness between the first surface and the second surface. The inner wall also includes a third surface thereby defining a thickness between the third surface and the first surface, wherein the thickness between the third surface and the first surface is less than the thickness between the second surface and the first surface. The inner wall also includes a fourth surface joining the second surface and the third surface to define a smooth transition therebetween.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 1999Date of Patent: July 10, 2001Assignee: Camco International Inc.Inventor: Dennis M. Patent number: 6039497Abstract: A first shaft provided with a flange having a through bore is coupled to a second shaft provided with a flange having a blind bore aligned with the through bore in the flange of the first shaft using a coupling device including an adapting bolt having an external tapered surface and an axial hole open at the narrower end of the adapting bolt and a cylindrical sleeve element having an internal tapered surface corresponding to the external tapered surface of the adapting bolt, the adapting bolt being within the sleeve element. The coupling device is fitted in the aligned bores so that the narrower end of the adapting bolt is toward the flange of the first shaft and an end surface of the sleeve element is exposed. A tool is fitted in the axial hole in the adapting bolt and a force is applied to the tool tending to displace the adapting bolt relative to the sleeve element in the direction from the wider end of the adapting bolt toward the narrower end thereof.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1997Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Assignee: Wartsila Diesel International Ltd OyInventor: Lars Gullberg
