Abstract: A mandrel bladder end fitting includes a compression housing defining a circumferential interior wall; the interior wall constitutes a first clamping surface. An expansion assembly, axially received within the interior wall, includes a plurality of wedges that collectively define a second clamping surface. The expansion assembly also includes a central core and a threaded member received within a threaded aperture of the central core. A radially extending flat washer, seated within the interior wall, prevents axial movement of the expansion wedges in one direction. Thus, upon rotation of the threaded member, the central core will move axially toward the washer, forcing the second clamping surface to move only radially outwardly toward the first clamping surface. As such, because the flat washer restricts axial movement of the expansion wedges, relative motion between first and second clamping surfaces; i.e., between the collective wedges and interior wall, is limited to radial movement, only.

Abstract: A high capacity radial-fit coupling bolt (or “expanding sleeve bolt”) has a pair of tapered sleeves about a shank of a bolt to which can be applied a tensioning load. An extrudable ring, or a compression ring, is interposed between a head nut or head flange at one end of the shank, and one end of an inner sleeve. At a preset load limit, the extrudable ring is extruded through at least one bore in a drive piston between the head nut and the extrudable ring, to allow shank to move relative to the inner sleeve until the tensioning load is fully applied. Alternatively, a drive member is provided between the head nut or head flange and the compression ring, and at a preset limit, the compression ring allows the shank to move relative to inner sleeve until the tensioning load is fully applied. The channel consists of a threaded area of the channel at the first end for use when removing the assembly; a hexagon, octagon or otherwise shaped area at the second end to interlock with the threaded part of the locking end member; two grooves in the channel, one at each end, as a seat for gaskets to seal off a grease or oil chamber for distribution to the bearing. A bearing is mounted on a central section of the axle. A pair of expansion sleeves is provided wherein one of the pair of expansion sleeves is positioned over each of the end member of the axle. A locking device is inserted into the channel.

Abstract: A locking mechanism includes a support rod, inserted into a first unit shaft at a first end thereof and locked to a second unit shaft at a second end thereof, with threads formed around the outer circumferential surface thereof; and a pressure locking unit movably engaged with the threads of the support rod and having longitudinal slits formed to open in one direction and at least two pressure parts formed in a longitudinal direction. The locking pressure of the pressure locking unit is imposed on the unit shafts at multiple longitudinally spaced points, thus dispersing or distributing the locking strength in the longitudinal direction and increasing both the locking strength and the resistance against both longitudinal compressive force and longitudinal tensile force, thereby preventing the locked unit shafts from suddenly slipping towards each other.

Abstract: A shaft connection assembly for the transfer of torque between two shafts is disclosed. The assembly includes a hub and an elongated annular collar. The hub includes a flange portion and a sleeve portion, the sleeve portion having a plurality of sleeve segments formed by longitudinal cuts along the length of the sleeve portion such that when the collar is forced linearly, axially away from the flange portion, the sleeve segments exert a clamping force on each of two shafts disposed within a passageway formed by the hub. The clamping force prevents relative movement of the first shaft with respect to the second when the shafts are rotated about a common axis. A method for joining two shafts for the transfer of torque using the shaft connection assembly is also disclosed.

Abstract: A lock that includes a wedge that is used to releasably secure separable components of an assembly together. The wedge can be used with a spool. The wedge and spool are threadedly coupled together to drive the wedge into and out of an opening in the assembly without hammering or prying. The direct coupling of the wedge and spool eliminates the need for bolts, washers, nuts and other hardware so as to minimize the number of parts. As a result, the lock is inexpensive to make, easy to use, and unlikely to become inoperative because of lost or broken parts or due to fines or other difficulties encountered in harsh digging environments. Further, the wedge can be driven into the assembly to provide the degree of tightness necessary for the intended operation and/or to re-tighten the assembly after incurring wear during use. A latch assembly is preferably provided to securely hold the wedge in place and avoid an undesired loss of parts during use.

Abstract: A mounting assembly for a universal joint that includes a yoke with wings between which a driving shaft is provided. The wings have respective holes. A bolt having a head and a stem is transversely to the wings. A sleeve receives the stem of the bolt so that, in an assembled position, the sleeve exerts a pressure on a surface of the driving shaft preventing its axial movement, wherein the stem has at least a first, threaded end portion, a second, non-threaded adjacent portion, and a third portion.
