  • Patent number: 6027279
Abstract: A clamp having a U-shaped clamp body which engages a profile such as a rectangular pipe on three sides, while a fourth side of the profile is engaged by a bolt which is secured by a nut and extends through conical holes in the free legs of the clamp body. Conical washers on the bolt engage the conical holes on the far side from the pipe, meaning that the bolt is located eccentrically in the holes. Tightening the bolt the nut makes the clamp body squeeze the top side and the bottom side of the pipe. The conical washers in the conical holes make the bolt squeeze the pipe in the direction of the back side of the pipe. The pipe is thus squeezed from all sides.

A collet ring is positioned within an annular recess collectively formed by recesses provided along the interior periphery of each of the fingers and is pressed against a second tube telescoped into the collet assembly when the outer collet member is tightened onto the inner collet member.

Abstract: A composite guide rail for bellows type cameras is disclosed in which the composite rail is comprised of two rail pieces. A multi-fingered connecting insert has a base secured to the end of the first rail while the fingers conform to an inner cavity in one end of the second rail and can be slidably inserted-therein. A wedge having a threaded central bore is movably disposed between the plurality of fingers and is connected to a thumb screw by a threaded connecting rod, the thumb screw located at the opposite end of the first rail from the connecting insert. When the fingers are inserted into the cavity of the second rail and the thumbscrew turned in one direction, the fingers are expanded by the wedge being drawn therebetween such that the fingers come into pressing engagement with the walls defining the inner cavity of the second rail. When assembled, the first and second rails take on the aspect of a single rail.

  • Patent number: 5622098
Abstract: The invention includes a light-weight, high pressure cylinder, and a method of producing such a cylinder. The pressure cylinder uses a composite pressure barrel for maintaining and distributing fluid pressure therein. The composite barrel has tapered ends for retaining a pair of end caps. A split tapered collar having a taper matching that of the tapered end of the pressure barrel is provided to lock the end caps to the pressure barrel. The tapered collar has a threaded outer diameter for receiving the threaded end cap. The combination of the tapered collar and the tapered end of the pressure barrel provide a wedge when the end cap is threadedly engaged to the collar. By applying torque to the end cap, the two tapered surfaces are forced together and the end cap is locked to the composite barrel to maintain internal fluid pressure.

Abstract: An internal conical connecting device for connecting machine components comprising an inner bushing with a first set of parallel conical grooves, and an outer bushing with a corresponding second set of parallel conical grooves. The first and second sets of parallel conical grooves are engageable for wedging a hub into locking connection with a shaft upon axial movement of the outer bushing relative to the inner bushing. The first and second sets of parallel conical grooves have symmetrical segments removed to facilitate assembly and disassembly of the connecting device. A flat ring or integral flange is fixed to the inner bushing, and threaded members extend between the flat ring and the outer bushing. The flat ring and the threaded members are used to axially displace the inner and outer bushings relative to each other and generate a strong normal force for clamping and supporting the connected hub on the shaft.
