  • Patent number: 4637412
Abstract: A device for storing dental floss and paying the floss out is disclosed, which device provides three separately-usable strips of dental floss for use to floss teeth. The three strips form a U-shaped loop, and are tightened, or tensioned, for use by a tensioning means made up of an axle with a slot formed at each end, through which portions of the first and third strips of floss pass, which first and third strips are parallel to each other. The axle is mounted for conjoint rotation with a ratchet wheel which is allowed rotation in only one direction by an associated pawl. A thumb wheel mounted for rotation with the ratchet wheel and axle is rotatable by the user of the device to continually tension the strips of floss for use, which rotation of the thumb wheel is easily done by one hand of the user.

  • Patent number: 4520874
Abstract: An agricultural machine with a frame on which tool rotors are mounted on upright shafts in a row extending across the direction in which the machine travels. The rotors are driven by a horizontal driveshaft that is segmented and interlocked by couplings. Each segment of the driveshaft is a component of one of the angular gears that drive the tool rotors. The horizontal driveshaft is coupled, through a coupling device that is inside the housing of a main train mounted on the frame, with the output gearwheel of the main train and hence driven by it. Guides for aligning the central axis of the components of the driveshaft with the center line of the output gearwheel of the main train are positioned in a known way at least between the main train and the gears of a tool rotor that are immediately adjacent to it. The coupling device has a coupling component that is rigidly attached to the components of the driveshaft that extend into the main train.

  • Patent number: 4361196
Abstract: A quick release, high torque coupling for interconnecting the bit and drive member in a mine roof drill has axial-locking and torque-transmitting structure integral with the drill members. A plug on the drive member is adapted to be releasably received within a mating socket in the bit and has an axial-locking segment on its outermost end complementally configured with respect to an acircular constriction in the socket to permit insertion of the axial-locking segment into the socket beyond the constriction. A torque transmitting segment on the plug cooperates with the constriction to limit relative rotation of the bit and drive member between oppositely directed torque-transmitting positions. In one of the torque-transmitting positions, the constriction and axial-locking segment are misaligned such that the plug is restrained against axial retraction from the socket.

  • Patent number: 3994177
Abstract: A TV tuner has a housing and a rotating channel selector shaft mounted on the housing. There are a plurality of individual support members positioned by and mounted on parallel flatted areas of the shaft, which flatted areas vary in size to assure correct placement of the support members. Individual coil strips, each carrying a tuning screw, are fixed to the shaft assembly. A simplified clutching arrangement for controlling adjustment of the screws utilizes a coil spring to provide the initial force for moving a pinion gear into operating engagement with the tuning screws. The tuning screws are held by resilient arms which bias the head of the screws toward the shaft to thus firmly maintain the screws in any adjusted position. Each of the coil strips have contacts extending outwardly from one side and positioned to be in electrical and mechanical contact with cantilever spring members fastened to a printed circuit board which in turn is held by the housing.
