Crossed Rods Patents (Class 403/400)
  • Publication number: 20040179894
Abstract: A cross clamping device comprising a base plate has first and second legs and a clamping piece which connects the two legs with each other. The cross clamping device also comprises a first clamp (2) screwed onto the first leg by a first screw (4), and a second clamp (3) screwed onto the second leg by a second screw (5). The base plate and the two clamps (2, 3) are formed such that between the first and second clamps (2, 3), a first bar (8), and between the two clamps (2, 3) and the clamping piece of the base plate, a second bar (9), which is rotated by 90° in relation to the first bar (8), are able to be clamped. By tightening of the first and second screws (4, 5) the two bars (8, 9) are clamped. The two screws (4, 5) perform a double function, so that separate screws for clamping of the first bar (8) and for clamping of the second bar (9) are not necessary.

Abstract: A low profile rod clamp comprises two halves having semi-circular channels for receiving a support rod. When the two halves of the clamp are fastened together, the outer surfaces of the rods are in contact. The positioning of the two rods adjacent one another and with surface-to-surface contact results in increased friction and the highest possible load resistance. The clamp provides the ability to raise or lower the support rods in a vertical direction, while also allowing for rotation and the ability to move the rods in a horizontal direction as well.

Abstract: A shackle element, a method of making a shackle element, a hook and a rod connector. The shackle element (18) is used for fastening a hook (12), or respectively a rod connector, on a fixation rod (10). The shackle element (18) forms a groove with a lateral opening for inserting the fixation rod (10). The groove is delimited by a groove bottom (18.1) and two lateral walls (18.2, 18.3). After mounting the groove bottom (18.1) encloses the fixation rod (10) over an angle of 180° plus a partial angle. The lateral walls are arranged under a small angle; their distance increases with growing distance from the groove bottom so that the lateral opening is large enough for introducing the rod. The lateral walls are intended to be pushed together by means of a screw device (20.1, 20.2) for clamping the fixation rod (10). The groove bottom (18.1) encloses the fixation rod (10) over an angle of 180° plus a partial angle.

  • Patent number: 5732524
Abstract: The present invention is a truss anchor for attaching a truss to a wall system of a building frame. The truss anchor is a single piece of metal having a lower plate member and an upper plate member. The lower plate member has a first plate section defining an area of attachment to a vertically disposed surface of the truss. A lower extension is integral this first plate section and extends lateral the truss. An upper extension is integral the lower extension and extends upward therefrom adjacent the truss. The upper plate member forms a strap and includes a first strap section integral the upper extension and substantially perpendicular the lower plate member. A second strap section, integral the first strap section, extends laterally over the lower plate member and a third strap section, integral the second strap section, extends downward parallel the first plate section of the lower plate member.

  • Patent number: 5699642
Abstract: A harness system used with steel reinforcement bars or rods to hold them at a desired orientation during and after concrete is poured. The system has two substantially identical harnesses each with its own strap section and a one direction end clasp. A common spacer joins the harnesses together and orients them with respect to each other in different directions. Preferably, the harnesses and spacer are made of a moisture proof plastic material. Two steel reinforcement bars may be oriented in a desired direction--it could be parallel or at right angles to each other--and an appropriate harness system used to hold them in place as concrete is poured over them. One strap of one harness goes around a bar and is put in through its clasp end to a tightened position to hold the bar.

  • Patent number: 5651633
Abstract: A locking fastener includes a generally C-shaped body (10) with a slot (16) for holding a loop of webbing (18) extending from a tent membrane (17). The C-shaped body has an internal opening (11), and a gap (12) between the two ends for snapping around the intersection of two tent poles (19). An elastic cord (14) has one end attached to the C-shaped body, and a free portion for tightly wrapping around the intersection of the poles. An anchoring notch (15) on the C-shaped body receives the remaining free portion of the cord for anchoring it and maintaining it in tension. Thus the tent membrane is fastened to the poles, and the poles are locked together to prevent their intersecting point from shifting, so that in conjunction with additional poles and fasteners, the shape and structural integrity of the tent is maintained.

Abstract: An improved cross-stiffened panel structure, such as used on bridges, load bearing floors, large haulage containers and dump trucks, is composed of a deck plate to which are attached a plurality of spaced apart stiffening ribs. A plurality of transverse beams, each having a cut-out shaped to fit over the external contour of the stiffening ribs, are welded to the deck plate except at the cut-outs. The cut-outs are dimensioned so that a nominal gap is maintained between the cut-outs and the stiffening ribs. In another embodiment, saddles are fabricated to fit over the stiffening ribs and welded to the deck plate while maintaining a nominal gap between the stiffening ribs and the saddles.
