Crossed Rods Patents (Class 403/400)
  • Patent number: 5507746
Abstract: A holding and fixing mechanism for an orthopedic surgery makes use of a holding plug to fasten together a U-shaped clamping block, a wedging element and a rod body. The clamping block is provided with two through holes capable of cooperating with a wedging portion of the wedging element and the holding plug so as to form an appropriate angle as required between the wedging element and the U-shaped clamping block. The fixation position of the wedging element can be easily adjusted. The holding and fixing mechanism is attained by the knurl-fastening method in place of the conventional screw-fastening method.

  • Patent number: 5501544
Abstract: A clamping assembly including a first end member having a recess defined in an end surface thereof and a bore between opposing end surfaces thereof. An intermediate member has a recess in each end surface thereof and a bore between the first and second end surfaces thereof. A second end member has first and second end surfaces and a recess defined in one of the end surfaces thereof, and a threaded bore between the first and second end surfaces. The intermediate member is disposed between the first and second end members such that the threaded bore aligns with the bore of the intermediate member and the bore of the first end member. One recess of the intermediate member cooperates with the recess of the first end member to define a first pin bore through the clamping assembly. The other recess of the intermediate member cooperates with the recess of the second end member to define a second pin bore through the clamping assembly disposed generally transverse to the first pin bore.

  • Patent number: 5498098
Abstract: A two-piece clamping assembly includes a first clamp member and a second clamp member constructed and arranged to cooperate to define first and second pin bores. The first bore is disposed generally transverse with respect to the second bore. A rod is threaded into an axial bore through a portion of the first clamp member and extends through the second clamp member beyond an end surface thereof. A control knob is coupled to the end of the rod. The control knob includes a seating surface constructed and arranged to engage the end surface of the second clamp member, whereby manual movement of the control knob such that the seating surface contacts the end surface, clamps the second clamp member between the first clamp member and control knob so as to clamp associated pins in the pin bores. The first and second clamp members are constructed and arranged in such a manner that all operative threads of the rod are disposed within the axial bore.

  • Patent number: 5454662
Abstract: A pipe corral connector consisting of a pair of bolts having corresponding hingedly coupled first ends, and second, threaded ends. The second end of one of the bolts is provided with a right hand thread while the second end of the other bolt is provided with a left hand thread. The threaded ends of the bolts are brought together with a nut that is internally threaded halfway with a right hand thread and halfway with a left hand thread. The nut provides a turnbuckle-like effect in bringing the two bolts together and tightly joining intersecting or parallel pipes of a pipe corral. The connector eliminates all sharp edges which might otherwise injure a corralled horse. The inside surface of the connector bolts may be serrated or notched to provide increased friction at the point of pipe connection. The nut and one of the bolts may be marked to identify matching thread sense to facilitate determination of the correct orientation of the nut.

  • Patent number: 5224320
Abstract: A joint connector for a space frame comprises two pairs of opposed brackets having seats for the transverse chords of the grid. Upon securing the brackets one to the other a housing encompasses the intersection of the transverse chords therein. An aperture chord mounting flange extends from each corner and towards the opposing grid of the space frame. Each diagonal chord extending between the upper and lower grids has an aperture mounting plate welded thereto. Upon alignment of apertures between the mounting plate and chord mounting flange, bolt/nut combinations secure one to the other. An alternative embodiment presents a brake/spacer plate to preclude the diagonal chord from being positioned away from a desired extension away from the joint connector. The joint connectors allow the transverse and diagonal chords of the space frame to be secured off-site and/or in a ground-adjacent position which reduces the fabrication assembly and erection costs.

Abstract: A clamping device comprises a clamping means disposed towards an upper end of the device for clamping to a vehicle body and a securing means disposed towards a lower end of the device for releasably securing first and second transverse support members. The device is clamped to a vehicle body and supports the vehicle body in a fixed position above the transverse support members.Vehicle clamping and support apparatus includes four such clamping devices. One pair of clamping devices is clamped to opposite, rear undersides of the vehicle body. The other pair of clamping devices is clamped to opposite, front undersides of the vehicle body. First and second support members are then slideably positioned along the lateral undersides of the vehicle by slideably engaging the support members with the clamping devices clamped along each side of the vehicle. Third and fourth support members slideably engage the front and rear clamping device pairs, respectively, transversely to the first and second support members.

  • Patent number: 4490066
Abstract: A clamping system for "temporarily" fixedly joining together two "I" beam or girder type structures on for example an offshore oil rig to set up for example a portable crane on the platform structure. The system uses four sets of opposed pairs of clamping elements, each set of which includes two related pairs of clamping elements which grip the beams and are bolted together, the clamping system being used in place of welding the beams or girders together. When it is time to move the structure, the clamping elements are merely unbolted, allowing the removal or replacement of the portable crane on the platform structure. The four clamping elements of each set include two pairs of side-by-side members which are positioned along side one another to grip the opposite edges of the top flange of the bottom, support beam and bear down on the upper surface of one side of the bottom flange of the upper, crane girder.
