Articulated Members Patents (Class 403/52)
  • Patent number: 4692050
Abstract: A joint is provided which can serve for connecting two elements, but can also be employed for making a column or pole like structure. The joint consists of two superposed plates or frame shaped bodies which are interconnected by two pairs of crossing rods. The joint serves to connect two modular parts in a chain-like construction.

  • Patent number: 4367591
Abstract: A fitting device for fitting a peg member and a hole formed in a hole member into each other including a stationary base, a movable base for supporting one of the peg member and the hole member, and a three-dimensional spatial mechanism having at least six degrees of freedom. The three-dimensional spatial mechanism includes a plurality of sliders supported on the stationary base for non-linear movements.

  • Patent number: 4332366
Abstract: An adjustable quadrangular base, such as for a framework assembling machine, including a group of four elongated rigid elements each having a rigid boxlike member fixed to one end thereof. The boxlike members all have a substantially planar upper surface thereon, which surfaces are all coplanar. An opening extends through each boxlike member parallel to the respective upper surface and perpendicular to the respective elongated element. Each elongated element slidably extends through the opening formed in the boxlike member fixed to one of the remaining elements, whereby two of the elongated elements define a parallel pair which extends in perpendicular relationship to a parallel pair defined by the remaining two elements. The elements can be relatively slidably displaced with respect to the other elements due to the slidable engagement between each element and one of the boxlike members, whereby the size of the square defined by the upper surfaces of the four boxlike members can be enlarged or contracted.

  • Patent number: 4042285
Abstract: A thrust bearing characterized by simplicity of construction and improved life and including a pair of bearing races with a cage and rolling elements positioned between the races. Arcuately spaced lugs integrally formed on one bearing race extend in an axial direction and are provided with latching members thereon to engage the other bearing race and thereby hold the bearing races and the cage in assembled relation. An improved one-piece cage is disclosed having portions on each face of the cage which protrude outwardly for centering the cage between the opposing bearing races to facilitate proper guidance of the rolling elements.

  • Patent number: 4027927
Abstract: A plunging constant velocity universal joint of the kind comprising a hollow outer member and an inner member, torque-transmitting balls which are located in apertures in a cage disposed between said members and are each engaged in and between a pair of opposed longitudinal grooves in said members so as to be movable therealong to permit relative angular and axial movement between the members, and a guide ring mounted on the inner member, the cage having a convex part-spherical outer surface engaging the surface of a cylindrical bore in the outer member so that the cage is movable relative to said member axially of the latter, and a concave part-spherical inner surface engaging a complementary convex part-spherical surface on the guide ring, the centers of the part-spherical surfaces of the cage being offset by equal amounts on opposite sides of the joint center along the joint axis whereby the cage assists in maintaining the balls in the bisector plane of the joint.

  • Patent number: 3986697
Abstract: An X-ray apparatus includes a telescopic column support with concentrically positioned tubular sections nested one within another. Each of the sections except its innermost section has three guide bars triangularly spaced on the inner surface. Each section except the outermost section has rollers on its outer surface cooperating with the adjacent guide bars of the surrounding section. The guide bars cooperate with the rollers in a generally circumferential direction rather than radially of the tubular members. Mounting plugs held in apertures of the telescopic sections by an interference fit mount the guide bars and rollers. The plugs are initially insertable into the apertures with a clearance fit, when an appropriate temperature differential is established between the plugs and sections.
