Patent number: 7806635Abstract: A tool for working a workpiece comprises an elongate member and a cam member. The elongate member comprises at least two extremities comprising at least one blade member. The at least two extremities are operable to separate in response to a pressurized medium. The first bolt (2) is connected to a tapered adjusting element (9) using a double-threaded screw (11) which is positioned radially in relation to the tool holder (1).Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 2002Date of Patent: October 12, 2004Assignee: Widia GmbHInventor: Markus Heinloth

Publication number: 20040184893Abstract: The invention relates to a multiple cutting edge rotary tool having a radial individual adjustment of each cutting edge or having a central adjustment for all cutting edges together. The multiple cutting edge rotary tool used for machining has a number of holders that have, in the front part, cavities for accommodating cutting plates and have, in the area between their ends, a hole for passing through a fixing device with which each holder can be fixed to a support. The holder, on its portion that supports the cutting plate, can be elastically deflected in relation to a support by means of an adjusting device. In addition, the holder is provided with an opening and forms a parallel spiral spring arrangement whereby the cutting plate, during its adjustment, is essentially subjected to a parallel displacement with regard to the cutting edge.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 9, 2004Publication date: September 23, 2004Inventor: Frank Johne

Patent number: 6752571Abstract: A radial-feed rotating drill tool having a tool holding fixture formed at an eccentric portion of a feed spindle eccentrically mounted in an external spindle. By rotating the feed spindle relative to the external spindle, a feed movement may be initiated with minimum expense. Further, because of the surface-contact mounting of the eccentric shaft portion of the feed spindle in the external spindle, mounting of the tool-holder without play is ensured.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2001Date of Patent: June 22, 2004Assignee: Ex-Cell-O GmbHInventors: Johann Oswald, Günther Grüner

Publication number: 20040096285Abstract: The invention relates to a tool head, especially a fine drill head, comprising a machine shank and a tool shank having a joint center axis, wherein the tool shank has a rigid core and a head with a tool, supported by a parallel spring arrangement and is able to be elastically displaced in relation thereto, said head having several limbs which emanate therefrom and form the parallel spring arrangement, whereby at least one of said limbs is fixed to the core or machine shank. The inventive tool head also comprises a device for radial displacement of the head in relation to the core, comprising a positioning device which has a conical part and is guided inside the core. The conical part bears against a contact part of the parallel spring arrangement under pressure when in use. The core is configured with the parallel spring arrangement in a single piece.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2003Publication date: May 20, 2004Inventor: Frank Johne

Patent number: 6575675Abstract: The invention relates to a boring tool that includes a boring bar having a center axis which at a top portion of the bar is arranged to be connected to a machine tool, and which at a bottom portion of the bar along the center axis is slit into two legs. The two legs can be movable towards or away from each other, such as by means of an adjusting screw, for exact adjustment of the position of the cutting tool with relation to the center axis. The tool is arranged in such a way that a joint through bar is detachably attached to the bottom of each of the legs of the boring bar. This joint through bar extends essentially perpendicular to the slit and center axis, and enables a cutting tool to be provided at the end of the bar. Hereby an especially simple tool is obtained which can be adjusted extremely precisely for fine machining of holes.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 2001Date of Patent: June 10, 2003Assignee: Larsen Tooling ApSInventor: Erik Larsen

Patent number: 6557445Abstract: The invention relates to a tool holding assembly with an adjustment means capable of causing the tool holding end of the assembly to bend in relation to the opposite attachment end of the assembly. This is accomplished by providing first and second contact surfaces longitudinally spaced from each other along the assembly, and providing an adjustment means having at least one adjustment screw, wherein by adjusting the screw, pressure can be simultaneously applied by the adjustment means onto the first and second contact surfaces, such that an axis of one end of the assembly can be displaced by bending in relation to the other.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2000Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: NT Tool Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Hitoshi Ishikawa

Patent number: 6533505Abstract: A deburring tool capable of removing burrs and placing chamfers on circumferential edges surrounding both front and back side openings of a borehole, wherein the tool includes an elongated cylindrical arbor, a resilient arm section, and a replaceable cutting insert. In use, the rotating deburring tool is steadily advanced in a forward axial direction until the replaceable cutting insert encounters the circumferential edge of a front side opening, whereby the tool removes any burrs and creates a chamfer on that opening. Continued forward axial movement causes the replaceable cutting insert to retract within the arbor such that the tool continues through the borehole without damaging its interior surface. As the tool emerges from the back side opening of the borehole, the replaceable cutting insert is again allowed to extend out of the arbor and into a deburring position.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 2001Date of Patent: March 18, 2003Assignee: EZ Burr Tool CompanyInventor: William Robinson

Patent number: 6402438Abstract: A laser beam is directed onto a bonding surface of a steel tool body to form a molten melt pool. Particles of high speed steel alloy are flowed into the melt pool and melt in the melt pool. The laser beam is moved along the bonding surface to form solid lines of high speed steel laser cladding metallurgically bonded to the cutter portion at the bonding surface and to each other. The cladding is abraded to form the cutting edge of a composite cutting tool.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2000Date of Patent: June 11, 2002Assignee: Alvord-Polk, Inc.Inventor: Ronald E. Boyer

Patent number: RE42757Abstract: An expandable reamer for forming a space within a vertebral disc includes a pair of opposing blades which have a expanded state and a retracted state. The blades being pivotally positioned at the distal end of a shaft assembly. A shaft housing being substantially disposed about the shaft assembly. The proximal end of the shaft assembly being operatively engaged by a control device which when rotated allows the blades to be fully retracted for insertion into a pre-bored hole and then to be expanded incrementally until the cavity is bored as desired.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2004Date of Patent: September 27, 2011Assignee: Spineology, Inc.Inventors: Stephen D.
