  • Patent number: 7806635
Abstract: A tool for working a workpiece comprises an elongate member and a cam member. The elongate member comprises at least two extremities comprising at least one blade member. The at least two extremities are operable to separate in response to a pressurized medium. A conduit is in fluid communication with the extremities, and a pair of vents are in fluid communication with the conduit. The vents are operable to expel fluid communicated through the conduit. The cam member comprises an inner surface defining an opening. The inner surface of the cam resists expulsion of fluid from the vents, such that the cam and vents are operable to vary the pressure of fluid communicated through the conduit. The pressure variation varies the separation of the extremities as the elongate member is advanced through the cam toward a workpiece. The tool may be used to create bores having a non-cylindrical profile.

Abstract: A tool has a slot provided between a pair of extremities at its distal end. The extremities have cutting blades mounted thereon. The slot is configured to receive a plate. The tool has a conduit running along its axis for communication of pressurized fluid to the slot and plate. The plate directs flow of the pressurized fluid outward toward the extremities. The blade is sufficiently resiliently yieldable such that it can move inwardly with respect to the arbor during deburring operations. The clip portion is adapted to flex to provide a spring-like force acting along the blade toward the head portion to facilitate insertion and removal of the blade relative to the deburring tool without use of any tools.

Abstract: A tool for machining workpieces, having a parent body which can be expanded at least zonally, having at least one geometrically defined cutting edge projecting beyond a circumferential surface of the tool, and having a setting device influencing the radial distance of the cutting edge from the center axis of the tool. The setting device has a setting element, and an adjusting device which sets the degree of bending of the setting element. The setting element is inserted into the parent body of the tool in such a way that, when the bending of the setting element is varied, the radial distance of the cutting edge is varied.

Abstract: A rotatable cutting tool has a shank portion for coupling to a tool driving device and a cutting portion to which is attached at least one support member for retention of a replaceable cutting element. The support member is so arranged to permit displacement of at least the portion thereof retaining the cutting element whereby the position of the cutting element relative to the body of the cutting tool may be changed by such displacement. A totally enclosed hydraulic force multiplier is mounted within an internal cavity of the cutting tool. The force multiplier is responsive to a control force to effect the displacement of the support member, the control force advantageously supplied by application of pneumatic pressure.

  • Patent number: 6802679
Abstract: The invention relates to a drilling tool comprising a tool holder, on whose front face interchangeable cutting attachments are fixed and which has a shaft part on the opposite end to said attachments and an adjusting device for minimizing the tolerance measurement determined by the drilling system. In order to improve the aforementioned adjusting device, the invention is characterized in that the tool holder (1) has groove-shaped recesses (5, 8), which lie on respective diametrically opposed sides and which are eccentrically arranged on a plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tool holder. Said groove-shaped recesses have a half-cylinder extension on each of the sides facing the longitudinal axis of the tool holder. A bolt (2, 3), whose dimensions correspond to the size of the cylinder, is located in each extension. The first bolt (2) is connected to a tapered adjusting element (9) using a double-threaded screw (11) which is positioned radially in relation to the tool holder (1).

Abstract: The invention relates to a multiple cutting edge rotary tool having a radial individual adjustment of each cutting edge or having a central adjustment for all cutting edges together. The multiple cutting edge rotary tool used for machining has a number of holders that have, in the front part, cavities for accommodating cutting plates and have, in the area between their ends, a hole for passing through a fixing device with which each holder can be fixed to a support. The holder, on its portion that supports the cutting plate, can be elastically deflected in relation to a support by means of an adjusting device. In addition, the holder is provided with an opening and forms a parallel spiral spring arrangement whereby the cutting plate, during its adjustment, is essentially subjected to a parallel displacement with regard to the cutting edge.

  • Patent number: 6575675
Abstract: The invention relates to a boring tool that includes a boring bar having a center axis which at a top portion of the bar is arranged to be connected to a machine tool, and which at a bottom portion of the bar along the center axis is slit into two legs. The two legs can be movable towards or away from each other, such as by means of an adjusting screw, for exact adjustment of the position of the cutting tool with relation to the center axis. The tool is arranged in such a way that a joint through bar is detachably attached to the bottom of each of the legs of the boring bar. This joint through bar extends essentially perpendicular to the slit and center axis, and enables a cutting tool to be provided at the end of the bar. Hereby an especially simple tool is obtained which can be adjusted extremely precisely for fine machining of holes.

  • Patent number: 6533505
Abstract: A deburring tool capable of removing burrs and placing chamfers on circumferential edges surrounding both front and back side openings of a borehole, wherein the tool includes an elongated cylindrical arbor, a resilient arm section, and a replaceable cutting insert. In use, the rotating deburring tool is steadily advanced in a forward axial direction until the replaceable cutting insert encounters the circumferential edge of a front side opening, whereby the tool removes any burrs and creates a chamfer on that opening. Continued forward axial movement causes the replaceable cutting insert to retract within the arbor such that the tool continues through the borehole without damaging its interior surface. As the tool emerges from the back side opening of the borehole, the replaceable cutting insert is again allowed to extend out of the arbor and into a deburring position.
