  • Patent number: 10449645
Abstract: A machine tool is equipped with a second supply pipe having elasticity and having one end side fixed to a spindle head and the other end side fixed to an arm portion, a cover provided within a machining area, and rollers. When the spindle head is moved in a direction to come close to the arm portion, the second supply pipe is bent and then a portion of the second supply pipe is brought into abutment against the cover. The rollers are provided at a portion of the cover against which the second supply pipe is brought into abutment, and are configured to reduce friction between the cover and the second supply pipe when the second supply pipe moves relative to the cover in an abutment state against the cover.

Abstract: An integrated laser material processing cell allowing laser-assisted machining to be used in conjunction with directed material deposition in a single setup, achieving greater geometric accuracy and better surface finish than currently possible in existing laser freeform fabrication techniques. The integration of these two processes takes advantage of their common use of laser beam heat to process materials. The cell involves a multi-axis laser-assisted milling machine having a work spindle, a laser emitter, and means for positioning the emitter with respect to the spindle so as to direct a laser beam onto a localized area of a work piece in proximity to a cutting tool mounted in the spindle. A powder delivery nozzle mounted on the machine and positioned adjacent to the emitter delivers powder to a deposition zone in the path of the beam, such that material deposition and laser-assisted milling may be performed substantially simultaneously in a single workspace.

  • Patent number: 7874771
Abstract: The invention provides an improved seal structure of cutting fluid supplied to a spindle of a milling spindle. The milling spindle 100 comprises a spindle 20 supported within a housing via a bearing 16, and a drawbar 24 having a through coolant passage 22. The cutting fluid C1 passing through the rotary joint 40 and 50 is sent to the through coolant passage 22, but a portion thereof is collected in a drain chamber 105. A rotation member 110 is attached to a rear end portion of the spindle 20, which is equipped with a labyrinth device 150 having a lip seal member 152. An air supply member 120 has two air seal members 142 and 144, and air A1 is sent toward the labyrinth device 150, by which an air seal is formed.

  • Patent number: 7509719
Abstract: In a device on machines, especially machine tools and their parts, such as tool holders comprising at least one rotating element, which is rotatably mounted at least in one bearing position arranged in a housing, a lubricating device is provided for this bearing position. For this, the bearing position is located in a lubricant path, which extends from an inlet to an outlet in the housing and into which there is fed under pressure a lubricant mist, which flows through the lubricant path up to the outlet. The outlet is connected to condensation means for the residual quantity of lubricant mist reaching the outlet, so that only condensed lubricant escapes to the outside. The lubricant mist flowing through the housing effects lubrication and cooling of the bearing position and at the same time effects a pneumatic seal of the housing to the outside to prevent contaminants from penetrating.

  • Patent number: 7419340
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for removing by-product chips, in existing CNC machining center. The apparatus is using parasite driven rotating carousel, capable of moving chips away from the drain of an existing machine. There is a possibility of installing powered feed device with its own controller in case the machine is not equipped with the auger. The method of removing chips is based on shape of the apparatus and the parasite drive, which uses existing machine auger. This auger is normally used to remove chips from the machine into an external collection unit. The apparatus allows operating the machine without interruption, otherwise when such apparatus is not used, chips clog drain holes forcing the machine operator to stop the machine for periodic drain cleaning. The auger itself does not protect the drain from being clogged. The drain cleaning apparatus can be used in the machines of different size.
