To Guide Tool To Move In Arcuate Path Patents (Class 409/179)
  • Patent number: 4180358
Abstract: An attachment for mounting a power tool, such as a hand drill or a router, having a cutter to enable the tool to be used to bevel the outside surface of hollow pipes. The attachment is capable of mounting a variety of different power tools and is adjustable to enable beveling the ends of pipes having different diameters. The device includes a base plate that mounts the power tool to one side thereof. The plate has an opening through which the rotary cutter projects forwardly. Also, projecting forwardly of the face plate are three freely rotatable guide rollers. The various elements are relatively adjustable in the plane of the face plate to accommodate pipes of different diameter. One of the rollers is utilized to engage the inside surface or core of a pipe end portion while the remaining two rollers engage the outside surface of the pipe at opposite sides of the rotary cutter.

  • Patent number: 4177610
Abstract: Apparatus for machining an extremely large and very heavy workpiece, such as a runner of a hydro-turbine machine, in situs. The hub of the hydro-turbine runner is utilized as a support for a rotatable beam which is arranged to carry a depending grinding or cutting tool in position to machine the wear ring surface of the turbine. Positioning of the grinding tool both in a vertical direction and a radial direction is effected to control the grinding operation. The power drive grinding tool is bodily rotated around the wear right by rotating the entire supporting beam around an axis which is concentric with the axis of the runner.

  • Patent number: 4174746
Abstract: A pile sizer for reducing the lateral extent or diameter of the upper end of a submerged pile. A vertically extending elongated anchor rod is threadedly secured to the upper end of the submerged pile along the central axis of the latter and an elongated tube is swingably secured to said anchor rod by arms to permit orbital movement of said tube about the centerline of the pile. An elongated shaft is rotatably supported within the tube and is formed with a milling cutter at its lower end for cutting the pile and is connected at its upper end to a motor mounted on the upper end of the tube. The operation of sizing the pile to a predetermined diameter can thus be performed from above the water line.
