  • Patent number: 7252466
Abstract: A CNC machining center has a table-mounted referencing device having two pedestals, each separately engageable by a tool in a Z-axis drive tool holder to establish a zero reference for vertical machining operations on a work-piece mounted on the table. The first of the pedestals has a relatively soft top so that rapid Z-axis advance of the tool onto the pedestal will not damage the tool tip. A spring load on the pedestal also accommodates limited downward movement from a rest position for the pedestal to operate a Z-axis drive stop switch to further avoid tool damage and to save in the computer controller memory, the height of the tool tip from the table. The second pedestal is provided with a hard top so that when the tool tip is touched on it and moves the hard pedestal to operate the switch 34, the Z-axis drive recorder records in controller memory a number that is precisely related to the height of the tool tip from the table.

  • Patent number: 7226257
Abstract: A router bit with a position stop is disclosed. The router bit includes a body with a collar extending outwardly from it and a shaft extending outwardly from the collar. At least one cutter blade is mounted to the body and the cutter blade may be used to cut a profile into a workpiece. The collar has a first diameter, the shaft has a second diameter and the first diameter is larger than the second diameter. The collar has a face formed a spaced distance or height from the transition point between the collar and the body. The face rests against the upper surface of a chuck when the shaft is secured in the chuck. This allows the body and hence the cutter blades to be held a predetermined distance above the upper surface of the chuck. A second router bit may be provided to cut a complimentary second profile in a second workpiece.

  • Patent number: 7155826
Abstract: A motor spindle includes a spindle shaft for receiving a tool. The spindle shaft is accommodated in the housing of the motor spindle in a fixed bearing and a loose bearing. The received tool enters into contact with the machined workpiece in a tool interface when the spindle shaft is driven and the tool interface is displaced in an axial direction of the spindle shaft when a workpiece is machined. A displacement sensor is provided on the spindle bearing in order to determine the axial displacement of the tool interface. There is also a motor spindle including a spindle shaft for receiving a tool. The spindle shaft is accommodated in the housing of the motor spindle in a fixed bearing and in a loose bearing with an axially displaceable bearing bushing. The tool enters into contact with the machined workpiece at the tool interface when the spindle shaft is driven, and an adjusting element which is used to adjust the axial displacement of the bearing bushing of the motor spindle is also provided.

  • Patent number: 7156011
Abstract: A channel cutting tool may include an arbor that connects to a rotating spindle of a machining tool or a similar spinning part of a machining tool. Two slot cutting blades may be fixedly mounted to the arbor. An inner washer may be fixedly mounted on the arbor between the cutting blades and establish the blade spacing. An outer washer may be rotationally mounted to the inner washer with a smaller thickness to facilitate rotation relative to the two cutting blades. The arbor rotates about a longitudinal rotation axis, which also may be the rotation axis for the cutting blades, the inner washer, and the outer washer. The outer washer functions as a depth-limiting safeguard for the channel cutting tool.

Abstract: The invention relates to a tool holder (10) for shrink-fit attachment of rotating tools (11) with predominantly cylindrical shafts (12), having a chuck (13) with a clamping section (14) containing a conical receiving bore (15) to accommodate an insert (30) that has a cylindrical bore (32) to accommodate the tool shaft (12) and has a conical outer surface (31 ) to be contained in the receiving bore (15) of the clamping section (14). The insert (30) is embodied so that after the axial insertion of the insert (30) into the hot chuck (13), a contact is produced between the insert (30) and the chuck (13) on the one hand and between the insert (30) and the inserted tool shaft (12) on the other hand and, when the chuck (13) cools, the tool shaft (12) is clamped, wherein it is possible to bridge over large diameter tolerances while achieving maximum clamping forces (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 7082656
Abstract: A tool for beveling the end of a pipe is comprised of a hollow, tubular body having a central, longitudinal axis of rotation, an inboard coupling end, and an opposite outboard working end. A plurality of longitudinally spaced, transversely directed latching pin bores of equal size are defined through the wall of the tubular body. A core member is disposed coaxially within the tubular body. The core member includes a beveling cutter head and a longitudinal stem having a radially inwardly directed, circumferential latch position groove. A transversely oriented latching pin is engaged in a selected one of the latching pin bores in the body and with the latch position groove of the core stem. This allows alternative selection of each of the latch position bores for insertion of the latching pin. The particular bore selected determines the longitudinal position of the core stem latch position groove within the body that will be aligned with the latching pin.

Abstract: A device for eliminating a gap of the threaded rod of a plane machine has four gap nuts respectively screwed with four threaded rods under the threaded rod bases of a planing table. Four springs are respectively fitted between the backlash nuts and the threaded rod bases. When the gap nuts are screwed upward, the springs are pressed to produce a pushing-up force to push against the threaded rod bases and the planing table, and the pushing-up force is greater than the total weight of the rod bases and the table. Thus, the threaded rod bases can be pushed by the springs to move upward and closely contact the threaded rods to eliminate a gap therebetween, stabilizing the table and the planning knife to perform planing precisely and elevate the quality of planing.
