  • Patent number: 5810529
Abstract: In connection with a device for receiving workpieces, in particular for machine tools with continuous-path control, preferably numerically controlled machine tools, a dividing mechanism having a dividing spindle, which is seated in a housing, can be brought into predetermined angular positions and is connected with a workpiece holder. It is possible to achieve an exact and rapid setting of the dividing mechanism in that it is arranged for actuation by means of a continuous-path-controlled actuator, by which an indexing mechanism associated with the dividing spindle, with whose aid the dividing spindle can be locked in place in a predeterminable angular position, can be brought into a position which releases the dividing spindle, and through which the dividing spindle can be rotated.

  • Patent number: 5224716
Abstract: In a workpiece support for use with a laser beam machine tool, in which the workpiece is rotated about an axis tiltable through 90.degree. or more to either side of a vertical condition, the workpiece is held by a chuck driven through a right-angle speed reducer by a servomotor. The chuck, reducer and motor are all supported on a shaft rotatably mounted in bearings on a frame. The shaft is coupled to a disc having angle markings and lockable at discrete rotational positions on the frame. Fine adjustment of the rotational position of the shaft relative to the disc is effected by engagement of an offset protrusion on the end of the shaft by a screw-shifted operating member on the disc. Two such operating members are provided in opposed relationship on opposite sides of the protrusion so that they can be used to lock the shaft and disc securely together.

  • Patent number: 4850764
Abstract: A machine tool comprises a spindle stock that can be moved along several axes. A work table can be rotated alternately in opposite directions by an angle of, preferably, 180.degree. about an axis extending perpendicularly to the table surface in such a manner that the halves of the table surface form alternately, at any given time, a processing area located in the working area of the spindle stock and a mounting area located at a distance from the working area. At least one line leads from a stationary part of the machine tool to the work table for transmitting signals and/or supplying energy. In order to simplify the arrangement of the line, in particular if a plurality of such lines is provided, the line is connected above the said work table to a point on the said stationary part of the said machine tool and, hanging down loosely between the two parts, on the other hand to a connection box of the said work table.

  • Patent number: 4483052
Abstract: A machine tool attachment which provides for material handling, positioning, and clamping during machining and also eliminates the need for custom tool fixtures is described. The machine tool attachment mechanically advances material to be machined through a tubular tail stock and into a head stock. Collets located in the tail stock and head stock automatically power clamp the material and a rotary indexer automatically rotates and indexes the material during the machining operation. Once machining is completed, the material between the head stock and tail stock is further clamped by the attachment and then cut by the machine tool. Remaining material can then be advanced by the attachment and the process repeated. The machine tool attachment interfaces with a numerically controlled machining center which transmits signals to control the functions of the attachment for proper coordination with the machine tool.
