  • Patent number: 6357953
Abstract: A tolerance compensator provides a predetermined tolerance or space between connected assembly members. The tolerance compensator has a pair of connector components a first of which is secured to one of the assembly members and the second connector component is threadably installed, with a left hand thread, into the first connector component. A threaded fastener, with a right hand thread, is inserted into the connector components to initially engage the second connector component, either threadably or frictionally, to cause relative rotation between the first and second components whereby the second component advances toward and engages the second assembly member. The threaded fastener also threadably engages the first connector component to provide a secure connection between assembly members with the designed tolerance or space therebetween.

  • Patent number: 6308483
Abstract: The present invention is a roofing fastener assembly. The assembly includes a fastener, a barbed washer, and a screw. The screw projects through the fastener and exits the free end of the fastener. Upon installation of the screw and fastener, the barbs of the washer penetrate into the roof membrane and insulation layer. An extending rim on the washer receives the head of the fastener to resist the relative lateral movement of the washer and fastener. Stabilizing fingers project from a free end of the fastener and hold the screw in place during assembly.

Abstract: A remedial wall anchor system includes a reinforcing rod or wire, a tie rod, anchor components which secure the tie rod to the facade wall and the back-up wall, and a capturing device. The tie rod extends between the facade and back-up walls and is insertable through a hole extending through the facade wall. The capturing device is secured to the front end of the tie rod and includes first and second spaced-apart upstanding surfaces joined by a linking member to form a channel for capturing a portion of the reinforcing wire. The remedial anchor system can be used both mechanical and adhesive facade anchors and back-up anchors. The remedial anchor wall system is easily and economically used to reconnect an existing facade wall to a back-up wall. Initially, the user forms a horizontal groove in a mortar bedjoint of the facade wall. Then, a hole is drilled into the grooved mortar line so that the hole is connected to the groove and extends through the facade wall.
