And Longitudinal Rib Patents (Class 411/73)
  • Patent number: 8348565
Abstract: The invention relates to a rivet (2) for connecting workpieces (11, 12), in particular a blind rivet, having a sleeve (1) with a shank (5) and a widened preformed head (13) adjoining thereto, and optionally a rivet mandrel (8) with a head (9), wherein an end of the shank (5) lying opposite the preformed head (13) if necessary can be deformed to form a driven head by drawing the rivet mandrel (8) into the sleeve (1). In order that during the placement of a rivet (2) a gap (10) between the rivet (2) and workpieces (11, 12) to be connected can be closed and a highly loadable connection can be achieved, at least one indentation (3) running axially and/or at least one slot running axially are provided in the shank (5), which indentation (3) or which slot (4) during the placement of the rivet (2) causes a radial expansion of the shank (5) of the sleeve (1) towards the workpieces (11, 12).

  • Patent number: 7815391
Abstract: A connector and method for joining one end of a first wood member such as a wood log or beam to a side of a second wood member involving metal sleeves secured in aligned holes in a respective member with a protruding one of the sleeve slidable into the other sleeve. A bolt is threaded into an internally threaded element on the inner end of the sleeve in the first member and advanced to pull the members together. The sleeves are secured in the holes with spike features driven out into the surrounding wood. Alternatively, a tee connector has a plate portion fitting into a slot extending through aligned holes in the plate and one end of the first member. A cross plate is held against the one side of the other member with thread fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6120226
Abstract: The invention pertains to a railing fastener for drawers that has one part with an expansion dowel located in the front panel of the drawer and one part that is a fastener (that can be inserted), which is connected in the dowel to the railing pipe. The fastener fitting has a head component with an expansion head that can be inserted in the expansion dowel. Guides and/or catches are provided on the head component, respectively the expansion head, that work together with the corresponding grooves or catch openings of the expansion dowel. After completely inserting the expansion head, the expansion dowel spreads, activated by the swinging or swiveling of the fastener fitting; the guides or catches reach the corresponding lock-in positions so that the fastener fitting is held securely in the expansion dowel and an extraction of the expansion head is no longer possible.

  • Patent number: 5352066
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an anchor assembly for installing a threaded mine-roof bolt under tension in a bore hole formed in underground passageways, mines, and the like. The anchor assembly includes a two compartment resin cartridge and a mechanical expansion unit. A support collar is threaded on the bolt to restrict axial movement of the mechanical expansion unit. The mechanical expansion unit includes a camming plug and an expansion shell. The expansion shell has a plurality of fingers extending upwardly from an annular collar. Spaces or slots are formed between adjacent fingers. Each of the plurality of fingers include a vertically extending rib for forming channels between the external surfaces of the fingers and the side walls of the bore hole to permit the free flow of resin. The side surfaces of the fingers adjacent the uppermost portion thereof are tapered so that substantially V-shaped notches are formed between adjacent fingers.

  • Patent number: 5078547
Abstract: An improved expansion assembly for a mine roof bolt adapted for use in a 11/2" diameter bore hole with a 1" roof bolt. The expansion assembly has a plug with tapered surfaces, an expansion shell with leaves extending axially upwardly from a support ring into contact with the tapered surfaces of the plug and a support washer. The inner surface of the expansion leaves are spaced inwardly from the surface of the support ring. • Patent number: 5033910
Abstract: An improved, radially expansible shell for use in a mechanical expansion anchor and an anchoring system including such a shell in combination with a resin grouting mix, in a drill hole of predetermined diameter. The shell includes a plurality of leaf portions having internal surfaces for engagement by a tapered camming plug as the shell is expanded, external surfaces having a maximum diameter less than that of the drill hole, and side edges. A row of tapered teeth extends outwardly from the external surface of each leaf along one of the side edges thereof. The distance from the central axis of the shell to the crests of the teeth is substantially equal to the radius of the drill hole. The teeth frictionally engage the drill hole wall to retard rotation of the shell and ensure the desired expansion. When the anchor is used with a conventional, two-compartment resin package, the resin components may flow around the shell into the annular space between the external surfaces of the leaves and the drill hole wall.
