  • Patent number: 6543980
Abstract: A teaching tool for a robot arm for wafer reaction ovens is provided to anchor the robot arm with respect to a tray located inside a reaction oven. The teaching tool provides an upper flange for maintaining a spacing between a handle of the robot arm and a door of the oven, a position width for keeping the teaching tool aligning with a center line of the tray, and a lower tunnel aligning with the center line for allowing a blade of the robot arm to contact closely and horizontally from a lower position and thus for maintaining a position height between the blade and a floor of the reaction oven. By providing the teaching tool, easy blind calibration with multiple contact points between the robot arm and the oven can be performed so that possible efficiency down and cost up from an ill-calibration can be reduced to a minimum.

Abstract: A wafer positioning checking system used in a vertical furnace as found in a semiconductor manufacturing facility for manufacturing chips. The system utilizes a first sensor such as a photoelectric or laser sensor that checks the peripheral alignment of the wafers loaded in the boat. A second sensor is mounted on a robot having a wafer-handling arm for checking the position of a wafer that has just been loaded into the boat. An algorithm in a control unit responds to electrical signals generated by these two sensors to allow the loading operation to continue as long as the wafers are properly positioned and to controllable monitoring the wafers during a portion of the processing.

When the cam follower assembly has caused the gate member to open, a plurality of tires or other items forming a source of supplemental fuel are injected into the entrance chute by one or more external tire injecting apparatuses synchronized in operation to rotation of the kiln.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for injecting fuel in the form of pieces of various sizes into a burning zone of a kiln having an end inlet. The apparatus includes two rubber tires rotating in opposite directions, at least one motor for rotating the tires, an entrance chute, and an exit chute. The tires rotate about horizontal and parallel axes that are in an inclined plane and spaced such that the outer radial surfaces of the tires are generally adjacent. The entrance chute has a vertical inlet portion for receiving the fuel pieces and downwardly accelerating the fuel pieces by gravity and an outlet portion open adjacent the tires for feeding the fuel pieces between the tires. The tires elastically deform around the various size fuel pieces and project them as the tires rotate. The exit chute has an axis perpendicular to the inclined plane of the tire axes for directing the projected fuel pieces through the kiln end inlet.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for treating powdered coal in a solid-fuel injection installation. Such an installation comprises a powdered coal storage bunker, at least one lock connected to the circuit for pneumatically transporting the coal, at least one filtering screen connected between each lock and the bunker, a pressurized inert-gas source for pressurizing each lock and forming the pneumatically propelled flow of the coal and a circuit for pressure-equalizing and depressurizing each lock through a filter. According to the present invention, the major portion of the inert gas for depressurizing each lock is subjected to a filtering operation before being injected through the bottom of the storage bunker into the mass of coal and being discharged through a filter at the top of the bunker. The residual portion of the inert depressurizing gas is shunted directly towards the top of the storage bunker. The present invention also relates to a device for implementing the method.

Abstract: The circuit board plasma etching apparatus includes a preheating chamber, a plasma reaction chamber and a cooling chamber for etching circuit boards with plasma in a quasi continuous operation. The plasma reaction chamber is sealed by a gas-tight preheating sealing slide adjacent the preheating chamber and by a gas-tight cooling sealing slide adjacent the cooling chamber. A preheating door selectively closes the preheating entry end and a cooling door selectively closes the cooling chamber exit end. Boards to be etched are placed in printed circuit board cages supported by a guide rail within the chambers. The guide rail is separable into a preheating segment, a reaction chamber segment and a cooling segment contained within the respective chambers. A preheating chamber bellows allows axial movement of the preheating door, as does a cooling chamber bellows for the cooling chamber door. Axial displacement of the doors allows selective segmentation of the guide rail.
