The cable(s) (50, 250, 251 or 350) of the cable and pulley system can be loosened or tightened using either a winch (52) or a hydraulic winch (266 or 366). The pivot point of the back portion is located in front of the axle (16) of the trailer which creates a longer leverage arm which allows for easier lifting of the back portion of the bed.

  • Patent number: 6086082
Abstract: A snowmobile trailer comprising a rotatable first frame having a platform comprising two or more side-by-side decks each of which is independently tiltable to the trailer rear so that snowmobiles may be driven forwardly (of the snowmobiles) onto the tilted decks, then the platform rotated 180 degrees for unloading the snowmobiles whereby they may be driven forwardly (of the snowmobiles) off of the decks. The first frame is laterally supported relative to a second non-rotatable frame. A brake dampens tilting movement of a deck. A forward portion of a deck is covered by a shroud. One or more additional shrouds are pivotally attached to be disposed outside the shroud to further cover the deck or to pivotally be telescopingly received within the shroud to allow access to a snowmobile on the deck.

  • Patent number: 5967733
Abstract: A hydraulic tilt frame trailer is shown having a main support frame which is tiltable between a generally horizontal position and a rearwardly inclined position for loading and unloading a freight container. The tilt frame is connected to the main support frame by a first pivot point and has an opposite extent which is connectable to a hauling vehicle at a ball connection which forms a second pivot point. The main frame and tilt frame are hydraulically actuated for tilting the main support frame at an upwardly inclined angle and for simultaneously tilting the tilt frame at an opposite, upwardly inclined angle, whereby the main support frame is tilted to the rearwardly inclined position for loading an unloading a container.

  • Patent number: 5944471
Abstract: A dragline bucket transporter for use in moving a dragline bucket with a hauling vehicle comprises a wheeled trailer having a U-shaped frame with tire-supported free ends, the free ends forming an open end. The frame is moved by a hauling vehicle to surround the sidewalls of a dragline bucket. Once the bucket is surrounded, a cross member of the frame engages and lifts a front end portion of the bucket by action of a hitching assembly attached to the hauling vehicle. With the front end of the bucket elevated, lifting assemblies located at the free ends of the frame lift up a rear portion of the bucket so that it is off the ground. The hauling vehicle can then transport the bucket to a desired location, the bucket then removed from the transporter for use with a dragline.

  • Patent number: 5857825
Abstract: An articulated vehicle has features that facilitate loading and unloading. The vehicle includes a truck and a trailer. The truck is loaded from the rear, as in the case of a pickup truck with an endgate or tailgate. The trailer is coupled to the truck by a tongue on the undercarriage of the trailer. The trailer includes a bed and a front section. The bed, when released from the tongue pivots toward the ground so that a load can be rolled from the ground onto the bed. The front section is hinged to the bed. When the front section is unlocked from an upright position, it extends over the tongue to be supported in part by the tailgate. A hinged riser on the tongue supports the bed and the section as the load is rolled from the bed into the truck. When unloading, the bed tips toward the ground as the load is rolled off the bed. The articulated vehicle loads and unloads without a separate ramp, dock, or tailgate lift.

  • Patent number: 5775711
Abstract: An improved tilt-bed trailer constructed of light weight and durable materials is disclosed. A trailer frame with an associated rotatably interconnected tongue is affixed with a tongue release and retention mechanism that slidably engages a portion of the tongue and a portion of the frame to hold them in a fixed position when engaged and to allow the frame to pivot with respect to the tongue when disengaged. The mechanism utilizes gripping members to cooperate with ridges on the tongue. An adjustable axle mount has a pair of parallel support member having a predetermined configured channel in the lower surface of each, that slidably engage mating axle mount members therein. A locking mechanism allows positioning of the axle mount members selectably along the length of the channels.

  • Patent number: RE41126
Abstract: A frame configuration that is particularly adaptable for use on a trailer such that the frame configuration is operable in both a tilt mode of operation and a dump mode of operation. An actuating mechanism includes a linear actuator that is supported on the frame by a bracket and a yoke that connects to a load bed to power the vertical movement of the load bed in both tilt and dump functions. The linear actuator is pivotally mounted to permit a re-positioning of the actuator into an inoperative position. The frame configuration is provided with an articulated tilt frame in which the tongue is pivoted thereto allowing the load bed to pivot about a tilt axis which can coincide with the wheel axis of the trailer. The bed frame can be locked to the tilt frame for tilting upon articulation with the tongue, while a disconnection of the bed frame from the tilt frame enables the bed frame to pivot about the dump axis to provide a dump function in addition to the tilt function.
