The hydraulic clutch can be engaged over a much wider range of speeds and loads than is possible with an electromagnetic clutch alone. The addition of an accumulator enables even faster engagements. One or more ancillary water wheels (46, 48) are driven by the pumped water and are connected to generators for producing electric current for powering an electrolysis device (78) which produces hydrogen that can be used as fuel by the engine.

Abstract: A piston compression system converts energy from a conventional combustion cycle engine driving a piston to displace a working gas for flow through a turbine for output power. The working gas is derived by diverting a portion of the charge during combustion at near peak combustion pressure (PCP) into a closed working volume. The working gas is maintained at high pressure within the working volume. The working volume has a first displacement compartment and a second displacement compartment, a supply manifold connected for receiving pressurized working gas alternately from the first and second compartments and connected to an inlet of the turbine, and a return manifold connected to an outlet of the turbine and alternately returning working gas to the second and first compartments.

Abstract: A combination power plant/fluid compressor is provided for service vehicles. A small displacement internal combustion engine can be used to drive a fluid compressor, both mounted on a platform that can be mounted on the vehicle. A coupler is used to directly couple power from a pulley mounted on the crankshaft of the engine to the fluid compressor. The engine can operate on fuel from the fuel tank on the vehicle. The engine can be water-cooled and be configured to circulate heated coolant to the engine cooling system on the vehicle. In another embodiment, the engine can be operatively coupled to a stand-alone air conditioning system. In a further embodiment, the engine can be operatively coupled to a stand-alone electrical charging system.

The consumer is suitable for varying an absorption of power, which is made available to it by the drivetrain, as a function of a power which is required for compressor operation and which is supplied from the drivetrain to the compressor. A pump has at least one pump chamber which generates a pumping power during pumping operation. The pump additionally has at least one pump chamber which generates no pumping power or a reduced pumping power during pumping operation.

Abstract: A prime mover is shown which can be used in supplying power for a variety of roles in industrial applications, including oil and gas well operations, such as the prime mover which is used to operate a pump jack at a well site. It includes an internal combustion engine having an output shaft, the engine being cooled by engine oil supplied from an oil reservoir to the engine and circulated by an oil pump. A housing framework encloses the engine and supports an associated jack shaft bearing assembly, and includes a base, a hood and a plurality of upright supports which extend upwardly from the base in the direction of the hood. One or more of the uprights is a specially designed compartment having a plurality of opposing sides which define an initially open interior space, the interior space comprising an integral oil reservoir for storing and supplying oil to the engine during normal engine operation.
