  • Patent number: 7232418
Abstract: An integrated module for extracorporeal blood treatment has a flat-shaped support element which exhibits on an internal face thereof a complex of fluid distribution lines and on an external face thereof a high-flow dialyzer. The support element has a base body which exhibits fixture seatings, each of which houses an axially extended tract of a fluid distribution line. The tract of the fluid distribution line, with respect to adjacent tracts, has an increased diameter due to the presence of a junction collar made of a rigid material. Each fixture seating exhibits two axial locators for positioning the axially extended tract of a fluid distribution line in a fixed position. The locators interact with the junction collar, and the distribution lines can be fixed to the base body by a resilient fixture of the junction collars in the seatings without gluing. The module is configured to be mounted on an apparatus for intensive treatment of renal insufficiency.

  • Patent number: 7150607
Abstract: A displacement pump comprising a pump assembly and a cassette assembly. The pump assembly includes upper and lower housing portions that define a cavity, an arm disposed in the cavity, a roller attached to the distal end of the arm, and a motor attached to the proximal end of the arm for rotating the arm. The cassette assembly is removably disposed in the cavity and comprises upper and lower cassette housing portions that form an annular compression surface with a channel therein. A hollow compression tube having a flange extending along a length thereof is secured to the compression surface by the flange being engaged with the channel. As the motor rotates the roller arm, the roller presses the compression tube against the compression surface to create a moving occlusion of the compression tube for pushing fluid through the compression tube.

  • Patent number: 6942469
Abstract: Servo controlled solenoids provide actuation of a pump piston and valves, and electronic LC resonance measurements to determine liquid volume and gas bubble volume. Third order nonlinear servo control is split into nested control loops: a fast nonlinear first-order inner loop causing flux to track a target by varying a voltage output, and a slower almost linear second-order outer loop causing magnetic gap to track a target by controlling the flux target or the inner loop. The inner loop uses efficient switching regulation, preferably based on controlled feedback instabilities, to control voltage output. The outer loop achieves damping and accurate convergence using proportional, time-integral, and time-derivative gain terms. The time-integral feedback may be based on measured and target solenoid drive currents, adjusting the magnetic gap for force balance at the target current.

  • Patent number: 6942473
Abstract: A pump includes a housing defining a tube receiving portion and a blade mounted for reciprocating movement between first and second positions. In its first position, the leading edge of the blade compresses a length of tube against a first surface disposed in the tube-receiving portion, while in the second position, the blade does not compress the tube. The tube-receiving portion can receive the tube directly or indirectly through a tube set detachably mounted to the housing. The tube set includes a tube and a base having first and second end portions that respectively define first and second tube-receiving apertures for slidably receiving a length of the tube therethrough. The base has a first surface constructed to engage the length of tube between the apertures for compression by the pump blade.

  • Patent number: 6436072
Abstract: A medical irrigation pump and pump system utilize a permanent non-sterile drive motor capable of operating disposable sterile single use pump units each of which is specifically designed for a particular medical procedure. The pump units have housing which are adapted to be interchangeable within the permanent controller system. Only the sterilized and disposable pump units come into contact with the fluid pathway during pumping. A pattern of bumps on each pump unit is unique for the medical procedure for which the pump unit was designed. The pattern of bumps engages switches on the controller, enabling the controller to identify what type of pump unit has been installed. After automatically identifying the type of pump unit and the intended medical procedure, the controller automatically selects a default motor speed that will provide an appropriate fluid pressure for that particular procedure. Buttons on a control panel also enable the user to manually adjust the pressure delivered by the pump.

Abstract: In a pump chassis (112), spring-loaded members (108a, 108b) engage a pumping cassette (114) to it in a predetermined position. The members each include pairs of latches (110a, 110b) that are each beveled to form a ramp so that the latches and associated members are forced outwardly to enable the pumping cassette to be seated within the pump chassis. The latches engage the pump cassette as it is seated, holding it securely. A release button (138) is attached to a spring-loaded shaft (144) that extends into the interior of the pump chassis. The shaft has a ramp formed on its inner end. When the user depresses the release button, the ramp rides under inwardly extending arms (162a, 162b) provided on the members, forcing the members and attached latches to move outwardly. As the members move outwardly, the pumping cassette is released and readily removed.
