Mechanically Actuated Distributor Patents (Class 417/510)
  • Patent number: 4303376
Abstract: A cassette and controller for accurately controlling fluid flow through an administration set while maintaining a closed fluid system. Inlet and outlet conduits are defined in a body of the cassette and inlet and outlet valves control fluid flow through the respective conduits. A rigid internal cavity of predetermined volume is also defined in the cassette body with an impermeable and flexible diaphragm spanning the cavity. A control conduit communicates with the internal cavity on an opposite side of the diaphragm from the fluid to alternately exert negative and positive pressure on the diaphragm. Negative pressure causes the diaphragm to conform to the shape of the internal cavity when the inlet valve is open to fill the cavity-shaped diaphragm with fluid from the inlet conduit. Positive pressure against the diaphragm expels fluid from the cavity through the outlet conduit when the outlet valve is opened.

  • Patent number: 4261690
Abstract: A pump has a reciprocably driven rod disposed in a quantity of fluid to be pumped, there being an outlet from the fluid chamber. A pair of elements respectively disposed at the outlet opening and on the end of the rod are separable and jointly define a pumping cavity which is filled when the elements are separated. When the elements are brought together, pumping is achieved in that one of the elements is yieldably compressible so as to reduce the size of the pumping cavity to force out a drop of fluid. A stirrer is disposed near the above-mentioned elements, and reciprocatory motion of the rod is transferred to a one-way clutch to provide incremental rotation of the stirrer.

  • Patent number: 4259040
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for an air-compressing fuel-injected internal combustion engine which includes a first pump piston arranged in each pump cylinder for regulating a fuel control bore of a pump working chamber. A control element cooperable with the pump piston controls a flow of fuel in the injection pump. The control element is provided with a bore arrangement by way of which the pump working chamber is connected with a pump pressure chamber. An intermediate chamber is arranged between the pump working chamber and the pump pressure chamber from which two separate feed lines terminate into the pump pressure chamber in such a way that a feed stream of fuel is conducted by way of the first feed line arranged in the control cylinder with temporal interruption by the control element but that this feed stream is constantly conducted by way of the second feed line which acts as a throttle.

  • Patent number: 4245967
Abstract: A pump for a hand actuated device for producing an atomized spray includes a cylinder mounted with a cover cap on the neck of a container and closed in the bottom by a valve member and a stem operating a piston by means of a spring means. The discharge of the product is made through an inner passage in the stem and a lateral opening which is cleared out by movement of the piston when compressing above the spring caused by the increase of fluid pressure. The discharge pressure is so uniform and controlled by the strength of the spring, and atomization is always correct. The formation of drops as well as leakage are also avoided. The device is useful for atomizing perfumes, medicines, cleaning products, etc.

  • Patent number: 4050857
Abstract: A gate valve is threadedly attached to an influent port of a motorized pump of a vehicular fire engine at all times. Thus it is not necessary to stop the pump, remove a cap and connect a water supply hose to the influent port. Instead the supply hose is connected to the gate valve, the valve is purged of air, and then opened to connect the new source without air hammer, or flow interruption. A pressure relief valve on the suction side of the gate, relieves pump pressure whether the gate is open or closed.

  • Patent number: 4039269
Abstract: A precision metering and dispensing pump of the peristaltic type is disclosed. The pump includes a housing in which an elongated, compressible fluid extruding tube is disposed. The tube has an outlet that is adapted to be connected to the source of fluid that is to be pumped. Spaced serially along the tube and in opposition thereto are an inlet plunger, an extruder plunger and an outlet plunger all of which constitute valves and which are arranged to be displaced in such a manner as to apply compressive forces to the tube. A linear actuator is mounted on the housing and is coupled to a primary, two-part cam that is arranged to linearly displace the inlet and the outlet plungers at preselected times. Displacement of the primary cam causes the displacement of a secondary cam to the movement of which is responsive the extruder plunger. The primary cam acts on the outlet plunger which, at the beginning of the cycle is extended so as to close the tube.

  • Patent number: 4014629
Abstract: An improved pump for pumping both low viscosity and high viscosity fluids, which contains therein a body with three cavities, a hollow cylinder fitting in the first cavity and attached at its lower end, a hollow cylinder head containing therein a first valve means; having in the second cavity of said body of said pump a second valve means with a shaft positioned at the top end of said hollow cylinder such that said first valve means and said second valve means are positioned to ride freely on said shaft. Finally, a kick plate means positioned at the end of said shaft and located such that it can move freely within said third cavity means. When the pump is pumping high viscosity fluids it is the function of the kick plate means to push or force the high viscosity fluid up from said third cavity into the second cavity and then through the hollow cylinder head into the first cavity means and out through the outlet means in said pump.

  • Patent number: 3994294
Abstract: Apparatus for fluid flow control in a parenteral administration system, utilizing a syringe pump operated by a motor to repetitively fill and empty a syringe cartridge over a plurality of operational cycles of successive fill stroke and pump stroke periods. The apparatus repetitively and sequentially opens and closes a pair of intake and output I.V. tubes communicating with a syringe, the tubes alternating opened and closed states, one tube always being open while the other is closed, by means of a pair of L-shaped pivotal tube pinchers, one pincher controlling each I.V. tube, each pincher being normally spring biased to the tube clamping shut-off state. The tube pinchers are alternately pivoted to a non-clamping, tube-open position by a spring biased, intermittent motion, reciprocating slide bar under the control of a reversible, rotating cam, the cam being driven by the same motor as that used to drive the piston of the syringe through its fill and pump strokes.

  • Patent number: 3930434
Abstract: The hydraulic controller is for controlling the operation of a plurality of hydraulically controlled devices. Hydraulic fluid may be selectively distributed by the controller to various controlled hydraulic devices in a timed and predetermined sequence. The timing of the distribution of hydraulic fluid by the controller can be quickly and easily varied by various control knobs on the controller to thereby vary the timed operated period of the various machine operations controlled by such devices without affecting the timed operation of other machine operations. The controller is supplied with a source of hydraulic fluid under a generally constant pressure. Cam means are associated with each of a plurality of fluid flow distributing valves for operating such associated valve members in a predetermined sequence of valve positions upon advancement of the cam means relative thereto.
