  • Patent number: 10618822
Abstract: A chemical dispensing system broadly including a mounting ring, a connector ring, a water guide, and a dispenser apparatus. The mounting ring securely attaches to a water return jet in a swimming pool or spa. The connector ring couples the water guide to the mounting ring. The dispenser apparatus may be attached to a side opening of the water guide and broadly includes a housing, and a porous cover. The housing broadly includes an interior chamber and chemical exit openings. Sanitizing chemicals may be placed in the interior chamber. The dispenser apparatus may further include an adjustable basket. The housing may rotatably nest inside the adjustable basket, thereby regulating the sanitizing chemical dispersal rate. Pressurized water from the return jet flows through the water guide, creating a downward current within the dispenser apparatus. The sanitizing chemicals dissolve as the water flows downward through and exits the dispensing apparatus.

Abstract: A brine maker including a hopper having an open upper end and an open lower end with the hopper being configured to receive salt therein. A solids screen is positioned at the lower end of the hopper. A receiving tank having an open upper end is positioned below the solids screen. An overflow tube is positioned in the hopper and has an upper end positioned below the upper end of the hopper. When the level of salt brine reaches the upper end of the overflow tube, the salt brine will overflow into the overflow tube and will pass downward therethrough the solids screen and into the receiving tank. The invention includes a second embodiment wherein an overflow panel with an upper end is positioned in the hopper thereby creating a passageway into which brine overflow may pass thereinto and pass through the solids screen into the receiving tank.

Abstract: A solid product static brake (10) is provided which is employed in cast solid chemical block dispensing systems for slowing a generally downward gravitationally driven movement of the solid chemical block when placed or installed in a chemical dispenser. The brake provides the ability to prevent the destruction of the cast solid during installation due to mechanical shock. The static brake comprises a horizontal base frame (12), and a plurality of rigid blade members (18) extending from the base frame in a generally perpendicular direction. When a new solid block is installed, the blade members contact and slow the solid block as it falls into the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 5009848
Abstract: A water treatment dispensing apparatus for an engine cooling system, such as in a diesel locomotive, includes one or more probes for measuring the conductivity of the fluid circulating in the system. From the conductivity of the fluid, a determination of the level of concentration of treatment chemicals in the fluid can be ascertained. A comparator is utilized for determining whether, based on the conductivity readings of the fluid, the level of concentration of treatment chemicals in the fluid is at or above a desired level. When it is determined that the level of concentration has fallen below the desired level, a valve is actuated so as to divert a portion of fluid from the system to a chemical treatment dispensing apparatus. Simultaneously, an outlet valve is actuated to allow mixed fluid and chemical treatment to be routed back into the circulating system. The dispensing apparatus includes a housing adapted to receive a container for containing a quantity of chemical treatment therein.

  • Patent number: 4986966
Abstract: A scrubber module (16) of the wet type includes a partition (26) extending across the upper end of a tank (20) between the dirty flue gas inlet (28) and the clean flue gas outlet (30). The partition (26) takes the form of a plurality of hollow fingers (32), the zigzag lower edge of which is submerged in the aqueous absorbent (22). Oxygen-containing gas such as air is introduced into the lower end of the tank (20) as the partially cleaned flue gas from a baghouse or precipitator (76) is forced underneath the partition (26) at the upper end of the tank to facilitate oxidation and absorption of the sulfur dioxide into calcium sulfate in solution.

  • Patent number: 4790981
Abstract: A device is disclosed to enable the safe insertion and removal of a container of solid or powdered detergent cleaner into a detergent dispenser such as for a dishwasher. The device includes a bowl portion and a central, upstanding water spray outlet near the bottom of the bowl which ejects water into the container to remove the detergent from the container, or from bulk powder fed into the bowl. The spray outlet is occluded by a cover plate which is mounted on a screen which retains the powdered detergent, and the cover plate functions to occlude the spray outlet and horizontally deflect the water spray. This prevents the ejection from the dispenser of water, steam, detergents and chemical solution.

  • Patent number: 4732689
Abstract: A pressure feeder for controlled addition of dissolvable agent into a flowing liquid has been designed which provides constant concentration of the agent in the treated liquid. This concentration is independent from the flow rate and the pressure of the liquid and also slugging of the agent at zero flow rate is avoided. A feeder according to the invention comprises a dissolution chamber connectable to a point of slightly increased pressure in the main circuit in which dissolution chamber the liquid is brought in controlled contact with stacked tablets of the agent. A linear weir controls the height of the liquid level in the dissolution chamber such that is proportional to the flow rate. The provision of a holding chamber for treated liquid which is connected to the dissolution chamber incorporates a gas volume that automatically adjusts for pressure differences and enables the liquid level in the dissolution chamber as well as the concentration of the agent in the treated liquid to be pressure independent.

  • Patent number: 4508687
Abstract: A degassing/brine tank, for use in a chlorine generator system for swimming pools, for providing a fresh saturated brine solution continuously to the electrolytic chlorine generator cells of the system and to minimize escape of chlorine gas circulating in the system. The tank, fabricated of synthetic plastic material, has a plurality of vertically separated chambers, including, at its lower end, coaxially arranged inner and outer brine pick-up chambers. The outer annular chamber, open at its lower end, communicates with a salt and water reservoir within which the tank is immersed and a filtered supply of the brine is received by the inner, lower chamber. A check valve coupled to this inner chamber controls the supply of the brine solution into a helical coil by which the saturated brine solution is furnished to the electrolytic chlorine cells.
