  • Patent number: 6604930
Abstract: A molding machine for a concrete mix includes a frame with a vibratible mold having a vertical through cavity with hollow cores extending downwardly in the mold cavity. A pallet receiver with a pallet thereon is movable upwardly to close the bottom of the cavity. Core tops have openings therein and ventilation pins are receivable to block air passage through the core top openings when the pallet is in mold closing position. Cups with bottom openings are in the cores below the top openings to receive and guide the pins and passageways around the pins permit suction-braking air to move past the pins to the cup bottom openings when the pins move downwardly away from the core top openings.

  • Publication number: 20030075820
Abstract: A gyratory compacting apparatus and data capture and display system for compacting a specimen of material within a mold as the mold is gyrated, and capturing and displaying data on an internal angle of gyration during mold gyration, the apparatus and system having a generally cylindrical mold for holding a specimen of material to be compacted, at least one plate in the mold in contact with material in the mold and which moves relative to the mold as the mold is gyrated, and at least one sensor which measures an internal angle of gyration between the mold and a mold plate and captures internal gyration angle data for real-time display of internal gyration angle data during gyration and compaction. Alternative arrays of internal gyration angle sensors are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5135375
Abstract: An apparatus for packing a permanent magnet powder wherein a solenoid coil is provided near the opening of a cylindrical molding space of a mold in such a manner that the direction of the central axis of the solenoid coil substantially coincides with the central axis of the molding space, and an alternating current magnetic field is applied, so that a permanent magnet powder above the opening is packed into the molding space. A magnetic pole may be provided in the center of the solenoid coil. The method of the present invention can be applied to not only a powder for a sintered magnet and cast magnet, but also a powder for a bonded magnet.

  • Patent number: 4983346
Abstract: A one-piece molded end closure has a pull ring spaced from a main panel having an annular flange extending therefrom. When the end closure is frangible through having score lines formed in the main panel, the pull ring is connected by a tenon adjacent a score point, which is the junction of two score lines and inside of the inner diameter of the pull ring, so that pulling on the pull ring, which is substantially parallel to the main panel, starts rupturing of the two score lines. The end closure also may be a plug type having a friction fit within a container whereby there are no score lines; the pull ring is still used to remove the end closure from the open end of the container. The method and apparatus for molding enable production of the end closure as one piece without any tearing of the pull ring or rupturing of the score lines when the end closure is removed from the molding apparatus.

  • Patent number: 4783373
Abstract: A coating useful for a solar cell is formed by concurrent deposition of two materials, such as silicon dioxide and magnesium fluoride, on a substrate within a single vacuum chamber. The deposition is monitored to enable control of the ratio of the materials and the thickness of the coating. An alternative embodiment of a coating employs alternating layers of different materials which form pairs or periods, each having a very small optical thickness. By virtue of the coatings, emissivity is enhanced by suppression of the reststrahlen reflectance and solar absorption is reduced by external reflection of the ultraviolet portion of the solar spectrum.

  • Patent number: 4755338
Abstract: Method and slide-casting machine for the casting of hollow precast units of concrete by means of slide-casting. Concrete mix is extruded onto a base by using one or several shaping members that form a cavity and the mix is compacted by moving the shaping members. The outer face of the shaping members is provided with a projection or projections, or a projection or projections are formed at the outer face of the shaping members from time to time. The locations of the projections are changed to the longitudinal axis of the shaping members. Thereby the shaping members produce forces compressing the mix in the surrounding mix, i.e. forces that compact the concrete. It is possible to use shaping members in which the shape of the mantle portion can be changed so that the distances of the different points at the outer face of the shaping member from the longitudinal axis of the shaping member vary.

  • Patent number: 4342713
Abstract: A process and a device for producing concrete pipe by filling and compacting fresh concrete in an upright casting form. An outer jacket surrounding a vibrator-equipped core is rotated around its geometric axis with an internal peripheral speed which is greater than the maximum vibrational speed at which said core acts on the fresh concrete during compaction, said vibrational speed being the product of the amplitude and frequency at which the core vibrates. Around its circumference, the outer jacket has axially distributed roller paths for cooperation with rotationally journalled rollers which can be pressed against them. At least one roller is driven and is a drive means for rotating the jacket, the others being non-driven support rollers. All rollers are mounted on a frame member around the outer jacket of the casting form.

  • Patent number: 4249358
Abstract: Method and apparatus for forming and laying paving blocks in which interchangeable grids are provided of dissimilar configuration comprising a plurality of mould cavities each enclosing one or more fixed centers of the modules of the pattern, whatever is in the conformation of the said grids. The modular and transformable ramming assembly comprises a plurality of fixed securing points distributed to correspond to the fixed centers of the modules of the mould pattern and intended for the removable fitting of ramming plates of forms and dimensions analogous with those of the underlying cavities of the selected grid. The changing of forms and/or dimensions of the moulded paving stones or slabs is effected by replacing one grid by another differently conformed grid and by fixing new removable ramming plates corresponding to the forms and/or dimensions of the cavities of the new grid, by means of the said fixing points.
