  • Patent number: 5141430
Abstract: An injection molding apparatus creates a micro-cleanroom environment inside a mold cavity which can stay closed to airborne contaminants while ejecting and transferring the molded part out. The molded part is formed and solidified at a parting-line plane within the mold cavity, then is carried rearward on the movable mold insert to a second plane where it is stripped off and transferred out through a discharge aperture which is open when the mold cavity is in the second plane but closed off when in the first plane. The aperture faces substantially downward to prevent entry by upwelling thermal air currents. External supplied filtered gas can provide positive pressure through vents within the moldset's internal space. This maximizes mold and part cleanliness while speeding up mold-open cycle and may eliminate HEPA filters/enclosures and robots. Optical disks, lenses, food packaging and medical parts are suggested uses.

Each pipe gun which may be made from stainless steel, has a freezing section and three axially spaced metal rings of a heat conductive metal arranged in good thermal contact with the outer surface of the pipe gun at the freezing section thereof. Each of the rings is thermally connected to a cryostat, for example by means of a copper wire. The center ring is cooled to a temperature below the condensing temperature of the gas so as to condense the gas in the freezing section of the pipe gun to form a pellet therein, and the temperature of the adjacent outer rings are maintained at temperatures exceeding the temperature of the center ring so as to obtain a pellet of a desired size. The pellets formed in the pipe guns may be expelled therefrom by a pressurized gas force pulse and injected into a reactor.

Abstract: In a molding machine for soap and similar materials, the control systems applied to the feed, molding, processing and discharge members totally or partially consist of pneumatic and/or oleodynamic pistons. The control systems are preferably applied to the grippers of the pieces to be molded, to the mobile upper mold, to the centering device and to the device controlling the rotation of the lower die and to the device for controlling the sucker type extraction of the pieces already molded. The control systems of this invention can totally or partially replace the present control systems of mechanical type. The combination of conventional mechanical systems with those of this invention may vary according to individual requirements.

  • Patent number: 4836762
Abstract: Concrete elements, such as blocks or bricks, are molded or cast by forming in a primary mold cavity a secondary mold made of a portion of a thermoplastic film which has been contacted with a flat heater surface to assure a uniformly heated film portion which is then sucked into the primary mold cavity without wrinkles and filled with concrete mix. The secondary mold with the concrete mix in it is withdrawn, for example, sucked out of the primary mold cavity well before any effective hardening of the concrete mix, so that curing and hardening takes place in the secondary mold outside the primary mold cavity. This early withdrawing is important because it avoids expansion of the curing mix in the primary mold, whereby removal from the primary mold is facilitated. Additionally, the early removal with the aid of the secondary mold assures a more efficient use of the primary molds which are used again while the hardening is still going on in the secondary mold.
