Publication number: 20030044483Abstract: Protective containers are provided for transporting moldable preform charges used in precision molding operations, in which the moldable material includes a conductive filler in a thermosetting resin matrix. The granular moldable material is loaded into the containers and compacted. Next, the loaded containers are transported to a molding station, where each preform of the moldable material is ejected from its container. The containers are sufficiently rigid to hold their shapes under high compaction pressures, thus to determine preform shapes with greater precision. By surrounding the preforms, the containers minimize evaporative loss of monomer, maintaining the preforms in a condition more suitable for molding, and reducing the impact of monomer loss on the surrounding environment. Patent number: 6290484Abstract: A foam transport article transports foam dispensed from a foam nozzle to a mold cavity. The foam transport article is an intermediary allowing a foam nozzle which may not reach a mold opening in the mold cavity to be extended such that no foam pours outside the mold cavity onto the back of a mold part because they are in communication via the foam transport article. The foam transport article acts as a conduit for the foam. Once the foam hardens, the foam transport article may be removed. Upon removal, the foam breaks within the mold cavity at the mold opening. Any foam remaining within the foam transport article is removed completely by forcing it out the output end. The foam transport article is then recycled for further use in filling mold cavities with foam.Type: GrantFiled: July 14, 1999Date of Patent: September 18, 2001Assignee: Collins & Aikman Plastics, Inc.Inventor: Robert M. Patent number: 6086349Abstract: A portable concrete molding apparatus for forming concrete structures of a predetermined configuration, either on-site or at a central manufacturing facility. The apparatus includes a trailer having furnace plenum bounded by a pair of fixed walls. Each fixed wall cooperates with a movable wall for forming a mold therebetween. Each movable wall includes a concrete inlet for introducing concrete into the bottom portion of the mold. The fixed and movable walls include push-off valves for ensuring separation of a concrete structure from the mold walls, as the mold walls are separated.Type: GrantFiled: January 22, 1993Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Inventor: Ernest J. Del Monte

Patent number: 6086037Abstract: A mold for assembling and forming a wire harness preferably includes wire supports extending into a continuous trough which forms a main trunk and a plurality of branches extending from the main trunk. A port introduces a generally liquid sheath material into the trough of the mold. Wires are routed on the wire supports along the main trunk and branches of the trough in the mold. The sheath material is then introduced into the mold and cures around and among the plurality of wires.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1997Date of Patent: July 11, 2000Assignee: Lear Automotive Dearborn, IncInventors: Steve M. Patent number: 6071619Abstract: In the method according to the invention, as shown in the drawings, the elastomeric skin is manufactured in a mold assembly having a mold surface (2), a portion (3) of which is shielded off by means of a mask (4), a first elastomeric material (7) is sprayed on this mold surface (2), the mask (4) is removed, and a second elastomeric material (9) is sprayed on said portion (3) of the mold surface (2). The edges (11) of the mask (4) are placed on top of upstanding edges (13) of the mold surface (2) so that the transition between both elastomeric materials (7, 9) is achieved on these upstanding edges (13), i.e. in an outer recess of the elastomeric skin resulting in an aesthetic visual parting line. According to a further important aspect, the edges (11) of the mask (4) are maintained at a distance from the mold surface (2) such as to avoid contact between the layer of first elastomeric material (7) sprayed onto the mold surface (2) and the mask (4).Type: GrantFiled: March 17, 1997Date of Patent: June 6, 2000Assignee: RecticelInventor: Hugo De Winter

Patent number: 6045736Abstract: In a method for producing a molded plastic article, individual portions of material are removed from a flow of heat-plasticized material which flows vertically downwards from a closable dispensing aperture of a dispenser and are transferred to a mold before being pressed by closure of the mold to form a molded article. The required portions are cut by cutting shears from the flow of material at a point below the dispensing aperture and at a distance from it. A device for the production of the molded plastic article has a closable mold and a material dispenser for heat-plasticized synthetic material which can be arranged above the molding chamber. The dispenser has a dispensing aperture which points towards the mold and can be closed by a closure unit and from which the flow of plasticized material emerges. A shearing device for separating the required portions of material is situated below and at a distance from the dispensing aperture.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 1996Date of Patent: April 4, 2000Assignee: Aisa Automation Industrielle S.A.Inventors: Dominique Hanot, Gerhard Keller, Ralph Roeder
