  • Patent number: 5362224
Abstract: The invention relates to a chimney lining device which includes a shell member which telescopically embraces the exterior of a bell member. A shell member of desired dimensions may be used in conjunction with a standard sized bell member for the lining of various sized chimneys. Both the bell member and the selected shell member are formed of one-piece construction enhancing the durability and performance of the chimney lining device. During use, the invention is generally lowered to the bottom of a chimney whereon a masonry mortar compound is deposited within the chimney covering the chimney lining device. The chimney lining device is then activated causing the vibration of the bell member and the shell member. The chimney lining device is then slowly raised within the chimney, which causes a uniform and compacted thickness of masonry mortar compound to be deposited to the interior walls of the chimney.

The soap press component has wall structure defining a chamber having open top and bottom ends; a removable bottom wall is used to close the open bottom end, and a movable upper shaping form is used to close the open top end. A rotatable screw connected to the upper shaping form provides for moving such form from an elevated position spaced above the open top chamber end, to a lowered position extended into and through the chamber. The grinding component outlet discharges the soap pieces or shavings to above the open top chamber end; whereby they drop then into the chamber from the open top end thereof.

Abstract: Apparatus is disclosed for fabricating an internally coated pipeline for transporting corrosive and/or erosive materials in which the pipe sections are joined by welding. The pipe sections are first internally pre-coated to the exclusion of a length at each end that is affected by the heat of welding the sections together. After the weld has been made between adjacent pipe sections, an expansible and retractable mold is positioned in the area of the weld joint to define an injection cavity between the pre-coating ends. A coating material is injected into the cavity. The mold can then be retracted and moved to another weld joint where the process is repeated.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming frogs in the sides of a slipformed concrete element, especially a hollow-core slab is disclosed. In accordance with the invention, the frogs are formed in the sides of the element by removing cast material from the sides by a reciprocative scraping action. The reciprocative movement parallel to the side of the element is effected with a drive motor and a lever assembly. By the method, it is possible to obtain a desired frog shape and depth without damaging the side surfaces.

Abstract: A rotational plastic compression molding apparatus including a plurality of circumferentially spaced female molds and a plurality of circumferentially spaced male molds cooperating respectively with the plurality of the female molds. The female molds and the male molds are rotated in synchronism and thus moved round successively through a material loading zone, a compression molding zone and an article discharge zone. In the material loading zone and the article discharge zone, each said female mold and each corresponding mold are maintained in a spaced-apart inoperative relation, and in the compression molding zone, they are maintained in an approaching operative relation to define a mold space therebetween. In the material loading zone, a heat-melted plastic material is loaded in the female molds, and in the article discharge zone, the compression-molded plastic article is discharged from between each said female mold and each corresponding male mold.

  • Patent number: 4723905
Abstract: Apparatus for seating a gasket in a plastic pipe bell is disclosed which includes providing a peripheral groove in a belling mandrel and seating a specially designed hard plastic ring in the groove. The hard plastic ring is molded to provide exterior ramps for forming an annular pocket in the pipe bell and is inwardly configured to provide a secure seating surface to receive and retain a resilient gasket thereon. The mandrel is urged into a preheated end of the pipe and vacuum forces are employed to pull the end of the pipe about the periphery of the mandrel and tightly against the exterior ramps of the hard plastic ring for forming the bell shape. Upon sufficient cooling of the pipe end, the mandrel is withdrawn and the plastic ring remains encapsulated within the bell shape. Upon removal of the mandrel, a resilient gasket is then seated within the bell in intimate overall contact with the seating surface of the plastic ring.

The two movable parts are each located by oppositely diverging frustoconical reference surfaces on the central part and include mold surface components which are axially positionable relative to the parts in which they are carried. The central part is supported by a shuttle for movement between a molding position and an ejection position, appropriate ejection pins being located in spaced relation to the molding position so as not to interfere with the molding operation.

Abstract: A gas-loaded diaphragm for exerting a predetermined pressure on a ceramic substrate during sintering to prevent x-y shrinkage. In the most preferred embodiment, the diaphragm comprises a gas-filled base composed of two opposing discs, and a substantially hollow gas-filled toroid container disposed around the perimeter of the opposing discs and communicating therewith to permit gas flow therebetween. This diaphragm is disposed in relation to a ceramic substrate-containing cell so that when it is heated to a desired temperature, the gas in the diaphragm expands and forces the two opposing discs apart to thereby exert a predetermined pressure on the ceramic substrate-containing cell.
