Metallic Compound Particles Patents (Class 427/190)
  • Patent number: 3956558
Abstract: An overglaze decalcomania is provided which includes a prefused low melting point glass flux or frit as a protective layer and is substantially resistant to both acid and alkali attack, to mechanical abrasion, and inhibits release of lead, cadmium and other toxic substances normally found in decalcomanias. The frit is comprised of increments of lead oxide, silicon dioxide, cadmium oxide and tin oxide, and optionally titanium dioxide. It can include substituents of conventional frits as well. There is also provided a method for preparing such an overglaze decalcomania.

  • Patent number: 3950572
Abstract: A hot-rolled coil having excellent adaptability for pickling can be produced by applying to the sides of the hot-rolled coil, a compound of an alkaline metal or alkaline earth metal, or an oxygen compound of boron, germanium, tin, antimony, lead, bismuth or vanadium. One or more of the aforesaid compositions when applied to a hot-rolled coil serves to suppress the formation of oxide film on the surface of the coil and/or promotes the solubility of the oxide film in the pickling tanks to the extent such oxide film does form.

  • Patent number: 3946793
Abstract: A method of forming a high-temperature abrasion-resistant hard facing or coating on a ferrous metal substrate by employing an aluminothermic reduction reaction. The resultant article has a hard facing layer containing from 2 to 8 percent boron. Hard faced composite articles made by the invented method, such as sintering machine crash decks, coke pusher ram shoes and grizzly bars are also disclosed.
