Abstract: Methods for replicating a nanopillared surface include applying a nanopillar-forming material to a surface of a replica substrate to form a precursor layer on the replica-substrate surface. A template surface of a nanomask may be contacted to the precursor layer. The nanomask may include a self-assembled polymer layer on a nanomask-substrate surface, the template surface being defined in the self-assembled polymer layer. The self-assembled polymer layer may have nano-sized pores with openings at the template surface. The precursor layer may be cured while the template surface remains in contact with the precursor layer. The nanomask is removed to expose a nanopillared surface having a plurality of nanopillars on the replica-substrate surface. The nanopillars on the replica-substrate surface may correspond to the pores in the template surface. Nanopillared surfaces may be replicated on one side of the replica substrate or on two opposing sides of the replica substrate.

Abstract: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to sputtered aluminum second surface mirrors with permanent protective coatings optionally provided thereto, and/or methods of making the same. A mirror coating supported by a substrate may include, for example, first and second silicon-inclusive layers sandwiching a metallic or substantially metallic layer including aluminum, and an optional layer including Ni and/or Cr in direct contact with the metallic or substantially metallic layer comprising aluminum. A protective paint is disposed directly over and contacting an outermost layer of the mirror coating. The protective paint, once applied and cured, is adapted to survive seven day exposure to an 85 degree C. temperature at 85% relative humidity, as well as seven day exposure to a 49 degree C. temperature at 100% relative humidity.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides color filter and a manufacturing method thereof, and a liquid crystal panel with the color filter. The color filter includes a substrate, a black matrix formed on the substrate, a number of spacers integrally formed with the black matrix; and a color filter with a thickness thereof being less than that of the black matrix. Color ink is disposed in the black matrix and is hardened to form the color filter layer. The black matrix and the spacers are integrally formed and made of the black film, which simplifies the manufacturing process of the color filter. Additionally, since the color filter layer is formed by the ink jet printing method, the height of the color filter is unlimited, which allows the black matrix and the spacers to be made of conventional material, and improves the yield rate of the color filter.
