Abstract: A method of manufacturing terrazzo tiles and tiles manufactured in accordance with the method is described. A resin, curing agent, filler, and pigment are poured into a mold. Stone chips are then poured into the mold to settle with the majority at the bottom of the mold. Thereafter, curing occurs to result in rough tiles which are ground and then polished with the upper surface being the resulting tile surface at which the majority of the stones settle. The tiles are assembled onto a floor with grout lines resulting from spacing of the tiles, one from another. Grout made of resin or a resign and terrazzo chip mixture is then poured in and skived, and the floor polished to result in a sealed monolithic surface.

  • Patent number: 7939163
Abstract: A decorative laminate (10) includes a polymer or engineered film with fluorine (100), a decorative pattern (20) visible through the polymer film (100), and a substrate (200) supporting the polymer film (100) and decorative pattern (20). An embossing layer (70) may be included between the polymer film (100) and substrate (200). The embossing layer (70) or substrate (200) or both may contain one or more fire retardant materials such as halogens. The decorative laminate (10) has a resistance to sustained ignition rated as at least M1 according to French Epiradiateur Test NFP 92-501, and a smoke index value of 80 or less, a classification of F3 or better according to French standard NF F-16-101 based on French Tests NF X 70-100 and NF X 10-702, and a resistance to graffiti in a range of G0-G1 as measured by French Graffiti test NF F 31-112.

  • Publication number: 20110101083
Abstract: There is provided a printing ink to be used in the production of a heat insulating foamed paper container obtained by heating a paper container which has a container body unit laminated with a high-melting point thermoplastic synthetic resin film on the inner surface and with a low-melting point thermoplastic synthetic resin film (low-Mp resin film) on the outer surface, and thereby foaming the low-Mp resin film, the printing ink being printed on the laminated low-Mp resin film upon the production of the paper container but inhibiting the occurrence of differences in level at the foamed surface of the low-Mp resin film. In an ink composition for printing on foamed paper containers, which contains a colorant, a binder resin and a solvent, a resin having an elongation ratio (elongation ratio as measured with a small-size tensile tester manufactured by Intesco Co., Ltd., under the conditions of a tensile speed of 100 mm/min and room temperature (25° C.)) of 400% to 3,000% is used as the binder resin.

  • Publication number: 20110097506
Abstract: Compositions, methods, apparatuses, kits, and combinations are described for applying a colorant to a surface. The compositions useful in the present disclosure include a composition that is formulated to be applied and affixed to a surface. If desired, the composition may be substantially removed from the surface to remove a portion or substantially all of the stain before being affixed to the surface. If a user desires to remove the composition from the surface, the composition is formulated to be removed by a number of methods including, for example, vacuuming, wet extraction, chemical application, and the like. If the user desires to affix the composition to the surface in a permanent or semi-permanent manner, the composition may be affixed to the surface by applying energy thereto in the form of, for example, heat, pressure, emitted waves, an emitted electrical field, a magnetic field, and/or a chemical.

Abstract: A method of forming an array of selectively shaped optical elements on a substrate, the method including the steps of providing the substrate, the substrate having an optical layer placed thereon; placing a layer of particles on the optical layer; performing an etching cycle. The cycle includes the steps of: etching the layer of particles, using a first etching process so as to reduce the size of the particles within the layer, then; simultaneously etching the optical layer and the layer of particles, using a second etching process, the further reducing particles forming a mask over areas of the optical layer to create discrete optical elements from the optical layer.
