Abstract: The first group of the present invention is a wood reinforcing carbon fiber prepreg, which is produced through impregnation with a mixture resin at a viscosity of 3 to 150 poises at 20° C., wherein the mixture resin contains one or more resins selected from resorcinol based resins and resol type phenol based resins, formaldehydes as curing agents and inorganic acids or organic acids as curing catalysts. The first group of the present invention is a wood reinforcing carbon fiber prepreg having a longer usable time and being capable of imparting the rigidity and elastic modulus of carbon a fiber to the wood to be reinforced at a high ratio.
The second group of the present invention is a wood reinforcing carbon fiber prepreg attached wood based sheet, wherein a wood based sheet of a thickness of 0.01 mm to 0.06 mm is arranged on at least one face of a carbon fiber prepreg sheet produced through impregnation with a mixture resin containing a thermosetting resin and a curing agent or a curing catalyst.

Abstract: A process for producing sharp surface visible patterns on composite articles formed of resin coated reinforcing strands employs a liquid uncured resin having a coloring component therein to produce an opaque resin of light color to mask the color of the reinforcing strands. An absorbent surface veil is applied to the surface of the article before curing the resin to produce an absorbent opaque surface layer of light color into which a pattern of contrasting color is then transferred by sublimating an ink or dye pattern from a pattern carrier into the opaque resin impregnated surface layer and veil. Articles ready for application of the surface pattern thereto by sublimation may be produced using pultrusion or hand lay-up methods. Distribution of the surface pattern partially or entirely through the thickness of the surface layer results in an article having a surface in which the pattern remains sharply visible despite surface wear.

Abstract: An aluminum-thermoplastic composite surface structure. A sheet of aluminum is formed to a single-sided mold by heating the sheet and applying a ramp of gas pressure. A thermoplastic resin is heated and microballons are added to the resin to lower the viscosity of the resin, which is applied through a nozzle in a hexagonal pattern on the formed aluminum sheet. Upon cooling, the composite resin forms a honeycomb pattern. The hexagonal pattern transitions to a columnar pattern and a backing layer of aluminum sheet is gas pressure formed to the resin composite. Gas forming of the aluminum sheet results in aspect ratios of up to 0.6, and the sheet maintains a clean surface that bonds to the applied resin.
Abstract: A prefabricated roofing element in the form of a laminate consisting from its inner surface towards its outer surface exposed to poor weather conditions, of at least a first continuous layer constituting an element core based on a thermosetting binder and reinforcing materials, of a second continuous protective coating layer, consisting of a mixture of at least a synthetic resin, a constituent staining in its volume the resin and a catalyst. The roof cover element is characterized in that it further comprises at least a third discontinuous layer of paint unevenly distributed on the surface of the second layer and consisting of materials immiscible with the second layer constituents to form spots at the second layer surface.

Abstract: Disclosed is a plate-like carbon fiber-reinforced composite material comprising carbon fibers, wherein that the carbon fibers have a strain at compressive break of 1.7 to 5%, a tensile elastic modulus of 5 to 160 GPa, and a density of 1.5 to 1.9 g/cm3 and further in that the composite comprising said carbon fibers cause no delamination by an impact energy of less than 1.4 J/mm in the test of compression after impact in accordance with JIS K 7089.
Abstract: A transparent electromagnetic wave shield comprising a transparent polymer film and a conductive layer of a linear pattern shape formed on at least one side of said film, wherein the line intervals in said linear pattern are random between 20 &mgr;m and 1 mm.
Abstract: A curable adhesive composition for forming a bond between silicone coated optical fibers and fiber connector bodies, said composition comprising:
an epoxy resin component; and a curative admixed therewith. The curative comprises an amino-substituted polysiloxane including more than one primary amino group and having a molecular weight from about 150 to about 1,000. The adhesive composition has an initial viscosity, before curing, below about 100 Pascal-seconds, and the bond has a fiber pull-out force above about 1 Kg. Also provided is fiber optic connector including a holder for one or more optical cables, each optical cable having an optical fiber surrounded by strengthening fibers, both of which are surrounded by at least one polymeric coating layer wherein the optical cable is bonded to the connector by means of the curable adhesive.
Abstract: The invention provides a fiberboard, as well as its manufacturing method, which comprises lignocellulose long fibers with a fiber length 50 mm or more and resin. The fiberboard of the invention has high mechanical strength and superior dimensional stability. Since lignocellulose-base materials of long fibers are utilized, the fiberboard can save the consumption of precious wood resources.
Abstract: An insulating varnish comprising a resin component, electrical insulating whiskers, and if necessary, one or more additives such as an ion adsorbent, and/or an organic reagent for preventing injury from copper, produced by adding the additives to the resin component and the whiskers, or filtering the whiskers, or milled by using a beads mill or a three-roll mill, or the like, is excellent for producing a multilayer printed circuit board having high wiring density, high reliability and excellent other electrical properties.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a two-ply fibrous base material comprising a primary layer having elastic and oil absorbent characteristics bonded to a secondary layer having high temperature resistance and high strength characteristics. The two-ply fibrous base material, when impregnated with a phenolic, modified phenolic silicone, modified silicone or silicone/phenolic resin blends, provides a friction material exhibiting good friction and wear characteristics and is especially useful in high energy end use applications.
Abstract: A friction material, including a fibrous reinforcement, a friction modifier, a lubricant and a binder, comprising a water-repellent fluoropolymer incorporated therein. The further incorporation of an alkaline metal salt makes it possible to render the matrix more hydrophilic and hence reduce creep noise. The foregoing fluoropolymer is one selected from the group consisting of ethylene tetrafluoride polymer, tetrafluoroethylene-hexafluoropropylene copolymer and polyvinylidene fluoride or a combination thereof.
