  • Patent number: 8889574
Abstract: A laminate product comprising a foam core having a pair of opposed major surfaces and a cover layer secured with respect to each major surface is described. The cover layer comprises a polymeric substrate having disposed therein a plurality of reinforcing fibrous material. It has been found that it is possible to produce a foam laminate product having improved stiffness if a lower amount of reinforcing material is used for a given amount of polymer substrate. In particular, it has been found possible to provide an improved foam laminate product having a relatively high ratio of stiffness to weight of reinforcing fibrous material. It has been further discovered that the stiffness of the resulting foam laminate product can be increased when the polymer substrate and the reinforcing fibrous material are present in a weight ratio of greater than 2.5. This is believed to be the result of improved encapsulation of the reinforcing fibrous material by the polymer substrate.

Abstract: Bilayer platelet fillers are employed to compensate for a positive coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE) of an embedding polymeric material, or even to provide a composite structure having a negative CTE to eliminate or alleviate thermomechanical stress and/or delamination during thermal cycling. A bilayer platelet includes two joined layers having different CTEs. The CTE mismatch induces bending of the bilayer platelets, thereby causing cavities at temperatures lower than the joining temperature at which the bilayers are joined. The decrease in the volume of the polymeric material and the bilayer platelets at low temperatures is compensated by an accompanying increase in the volume of the cavities so that the composite structure has a temperature independent volume, a low net CTE, or even a negative CTE.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an artificial leather and method for making the same. The artificial leather includes a polyester fiber substrate and a thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) resin layer. The polyester fiber substrate has a plurality of polyester fibers. The thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) resin layer is disposed adjacent to the polyester fiber substrate, and the material thereof is thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE). Whereby, the material of the all layers of the artificial leather is polyester types, therefore, the whole artificial leather can be melted to recycle and reuse when disposing the artificial leather, so as to achieve the effect of environmental protection.
