Abstract: A process is provided for forming a rapid-hardening inorganic foam, based on the reaction of the following two components: (a) a solid component in the form of a reactive powder having at the same time structure-building and pore-forming properties, and (b) a liquid component in the form of an alkali metal silicate (water glass). The reactive powder contains the essential constituents: 45-65% by weight aluminum oxide, 10-20% by weight aluminum nitride, and 5-15% by weight metallic aluminum. The alkali metal silicate has a molar ratio of silicon oxide to metal oxide of 1.0 to 2.2. The two components are mixed in a weight ratio of powder to liquid component of 0.5 to 2 to give a paste from which a foamed body having a bulk density of less than 0.7 g/cm3 is then formed in an exothermal reaction within less than 10 minutes.

Abstract: Ferrous Nanoparticle Oil Extraction is the process of introducing ferrous nanoparticles coated in an oleophilic surfactant into oil reservoirs and implementing a magnetic force within the oil to supplement the traditional suctioning forces to extract oil. The nanoparticles, once in the oil, are allowed to disperse by Brownian motion and bind to the oil particles. The oil-nanoparticle solution is then magnetized and drawn out of the well. The magnetic force, originating at the mouth of the extraction pipe, supplements the traditional suctioning forces. Once collected, the oil-nanoparticle solution is passed through a high gradient magnetic separator, separating the oil from the nanoparticles. The nanoparticles are ready for reuse in the process of ferrous nanoparticle oil extraction.

Abstract: The present invention provides amphiphilic telodendrimers that aggregate to form nanocarriers characterized by a hydrophobic core and a hydrophilic exterior. The nanocarrier core may include amphiphilic functionality such as cholic acid or cholic acid derivatives, and the exterior may include branched or linear poly(ethylene glycol) segments. Nanocarrier cargo such as hydrophobic drugs and other materials may be sequester in the core via non-covalent means or may be covalently bound to the telodendrimer building blocks. Telodendrimer structure may be tailored to alter loading properties, interactions with materials such as biological membranes, and other characteristics.

Abstract: A method of making dispersion-strengthened alloy particles involves melting an alloy having a corrosion and/or oxidation resistance-imparting alloying element, a dispersoid-forming element, and a matrix metal wherein the dispersoid-forming element exhibits a greater tendency to react with a reactive species acquired from an atomizing gas than does the alloying element. The melted alloy is atomized with the atomizing gas including the reactive species to form atomized particles so that the reactive species is (a) dissolved in solid solution to a depth below the surface of atomized particles and/or (b) reacted with the dispersoid-forming element to form dispersoids in the atomized particles to a depth below the surface of said atomized particles. The atomized alloy particles are solidified as solidified alloy particles or as a solidified deposit of alloy particles.

  • Patent number: 8951634
Abstract: The present invention relates to a filler material for a floor, comprising a natural base material and a mixture containing loess and a resin in powder or pellet form, as well as to a method for producing the filler material. The filler material of the present invention uses the natural base material and is thus environmentally-friendly and not harmful to the human body. Further, in the event rice husks are used as the natural base material, a person slipping on the floor is protected from burning caused by friction as the rice husks have a high moisture content. In addition, the loess contained in the filler material keeps the floor from becoming moldy and emits far infrared radiation, and therefore is beneficial to the human body. The resin emulsion of the filler material prevents the natural base material from generating dust, thus preventing dust from entering the human body via the respiratory organs of the human body.
