Abstract: A process for finishing leather is provided in which the leather is treated with a preparation containing(1) a reaction product of(a) an epoxide and(b) a dimerized or trimerized fatty acid and(2) an etherified aminoplast precondensate. The treated leather is then dried at 50 to 120.degree. C.
Abstract: Copolyamides derived from mixed acids (a polymeric fatty acid and short-chain dibasic acid) and mixed amines (a polyoxyalkylene diamine and a short-chain diamine) are provided. These thermoplastic resin compositions are excellent reinforcing adhesives for flexible substrates and are particularly useful as box-toe construction resins.

Abstract: Anti-static fabric softening articles and methods which utilize a composition comprising a cationic fabric softener in combination with lanolin alcohols (or certain derivatives thereof) as a second fabric softener and release aid. The composition is releasably affixed or incorporated into a dispensing means and applied to fabrics in an automatic laundry dryer.
Abstract: A method of forming a decorative novelty device using stone material which comprises treating the stone with a wash medium, applying one or more thin coatings of clear polyurethane, stone to dry, and finally applying one or more thin coatings of the clear polyurethane to form the final product. The final product, a decorative novelty item, is then suitably mounted for display.
Abstract: Dimensionally stable solid paints formed by interaction of certain polymers having acid group functionality with a substantial excess of a solution of ionic cross-linking reactants in a polar solvent are especially useful for the interior decorating and protection of structural components including wood, wall board, plaster, plasterboard and similar surfaces.
Abstract: Compositions comprising an oxazolidine and a polyanhydride cure in the presence of moisture to afford polymeric materials. The compositions can be used in forming caulks, films, fibers, paints, seamless flooring, coatings, impregnants and adhesives for both natural and synthetic materials.

Abstract: Calcium silicate monohydrate (2CaO.sup.. SiO.sub.2.sup.. H.sub.2 O) can be produced in a coating which has been formed by a coating material containing silica sol alone or silica sol and other additives such as aggregate, viscosity increasing agent, etc. by subjecting the coating to a chemical treatment such as heat-treatment, ultra-violet ray irradiation treatment, etc. in the presence of water and a calcium compound which may be present either in the coating material, or in the treating liquid, or in an object to be coated. The film which contains the calcium silicate monohydrate produced by said chemical treatment has remarkably high hardness and is excellent in water-resistance, water-imperviousness, weather-resistance, and heat-resistance.
Abstract: There is disclosed compatible, homogeneous blends comprised of from 90 to 10 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the blend of an essentially unplasticized polyvinyl chloride having an intrinsic viscosity ranging from 0.6 to 1.0 and from 10 to 90 percent by weight, based on the total weight of the blend, of an essentially noncrystallizable copolyester having an intrinsic viscosity ranging from 0.5 to 1.10 and a softening point ranging from 70.degree. C. to 220.degree. C.

Abstract: Strong heat-sealable nonwoven fabrics, textiles, papers and other substrates which have been treated with a polymer latex derived predominantly from polymers of vinyl halides or vinylidene halides which have been overpolymerized with one or more of .alpha.,.beta. -olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acids, olefinically unsaturated amides or their N-alkylol and N-alkoxyalkyl derivatives, and esters of acrylic and methacrylic acids. Copolymers of vinyl halide or vinylidene halide with vinylidene monomers containing a terminal CH.sub.2 =C< group may also be overpolymerized in the same way in making the heat sealable articles.
Abstract: Applying water-insoluble, high melting alcohols, carboxylic acids or carboxylate salts to fabrics in an automatic clothes dryer provides a desirable crisp feel thereto.
