Abstract: The embodiments herein provide a method of synthesis for metallic nano-products such as metallic nano-antennas, metallic nano-rods, metallic nano-wires, metallic nano-prolate spheroids and metallic nano-oblate spheroids using saturated and unsaturated carboxylic acids. The method involves preparing a reaction mixture by mixing a polar protic solvent, a polar aprotic solvent or a non-polar solvent, a saturated fatty acid or an unsaturated fatty acid and a metallic salt. Then a mixture of reducing agents is prepared by mixing a polar protic solvent, a polar aprotic solvent or a non-polar solvent and a saturated fatty acid or an unsaturated fatty acid. The reaction mixture and the mixture of reducing agents are combined and heated solvo-thermally for a pre-determined period of time at a pre-determined temperature.
Abstract: The magnetic recording medium coating composition includes carbon black; iron oxide; at least one organic solvent selected from the group consisting of methyl ethyl ketone, cyclohexanone, and isophorone; an organic tertiary amine selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic tertiary monoamine and an alicyclic tertiary amine; and an organic acid.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a polymeric composite comprising a first organic polymer that forms a first organic polymer phase; and a low molecular weight compound that exists in the form of a second crystalline phase; wherein the second crystalline phase is dispersed within the first organic polymer phase. Disclosed herein too is a polymeric composite comprising a first organic polymer that forms a first organic polymer phase; and a second phase that comprises a crystalline organic polymer, wherein the crystalline organic polymer has a different molecular structure from the first organic polymer; wherein the second phase is not covalently bonded to the first organic polymer phase and wherein the second phase has an average particle size of about 1 to about 20 micrometers.

Abstract: A contact magnetic transfer (CMT) master template has a flexible plastic film with a planarized top or upper surface containing magnetic islands separated from one another by nonmagnetic regions. The flexible plastic film is secured at its perimeter to a silicon annulus that provides rigid support at the perimeter of the film. The plastic film is preferably polyimide that has recesses filled with the magnetic material that form the pattern of magnetic islands. The upper surfaces of the islands and the upper surfaces of the nonmagnetic regions form a continuous planar surface. The nonmagnetic regions are formed of chemical-mechanical-polishing (CMP) stop layer material that remains after a CMP process has planarized the upper surface of the plastic film.
