  • Patent number: 10626525
Abstract: A hollow fabric is obtained by providing cotton blended yarns and alkali-soluble polyester yarns which are arranged in a ratio of 10:2 as warp yarns, and providing cotton blended elastic yarns and alkali-soluble polyester filaments which are arranged in a ratio of 6:2 as weft yarns. The warp yarns and weft yarns are interwoven into plain weaves, and the plain weaves are subjected to alkali solution to remove the alkali-soluble polyester filaments, thereby obtaining greige cloth having meshes. The greige is subjected to boiled bleaching, softening and drying to obtain the hollow fabric. By optimizing the ratio of yarns and using a boiled bleaching, softening and drying process, a soft, smooth and fluffy product is produced with humidity-absorbing and breathability characteristics.

  • Patent number: 10297018
Abstract: A method and apparatus for grading leather based upon the size and spacing of the breaks in the leather. All or a portion of a hide is fed to a fixture that compresses a local area of the hide into a concave shape. The outer side of the hide is compressed and the inner side of the hide is expanded to cause breaks to be manifested in a local area. The local area of the hide is scanned with a digitizing profilometer that measures the depth of the breaks as the hide is fed through the fixture. The depth data measured by the digitizing profilometer is recorded by a controller. The depth data is then correlated with location data representing the local area scanned to develop a map of the break.

Abstract: A process and apparatus is used for making a fibrous nonwoven web with uniform, directionally-oriented projections by depositing fibrous material onto a first forming surface with holes positioned above a second forming surface with both forming surfaces traveling at different speeds to one another. As the fibers are deposited onto the first forming surface, a portion of the fibers are drawn down into the holes of the first forming surface forming the projections which contact the second forming surface. Due to the speed differential between the two forming surfaces the projections are uniformly skewed in the same direction. The resultant material is particularly suited for use as a wiping material which can be more abrasive in one direction but which is softer to the touch when wiped in the opposite direction thus making it a dual purpose material.

Abstract: A launderable and reusable, leak-proof, breathable fabric and, more specifically, a composite fabric comprised of a liquid absorptive layer and a liquid impervious but vapor permeable layer. Such fabric is useful in drawing fluids, such as bodily fluids, away from a source, such as the body, and retaining them within the absorptive layer while evaporation thereof takes place though the vapor permeable layer. This material consists of two juxtaposed layers. The inner layer has the characteristic of being liquid permeable so as to allow the body fluids to flow into it and be absorbed. The outer layer has the characteristic of being liquid impermeable but air or vapor permeable, so that the liquid absorbed in the inner layer does not strike through the outer layer.
