Abstract: A printing plate consisting of a base portion, a mount portion and a relief portion made of a liquid resin which is sensitive to and curable by irradiated activating rays, the plate being prepared by use of a masking sheet formed with a transmitting pattern having a contour corresponding to and slightly larger than the pattern of a negative film, a semi-transmitting pattern positioned outside the transmitting pattern and having a large contour for transmitting irradiated activating rays upon attenuation, and a blocking surface positioned outside the semi-transmitting pattern and having an effect to block the activating rays to an extent not to cure the liquid resin layer.
Abstract: A micrographic film member has a micrographic image and borders surrounding the image. A strip of laser recording material is disposed on a border. Laser written indicia related to the micrographic image is recorded on this strip. The information may include indexing information, information for controlling an optical micrographic reader, and information relating to the position or sequencing of image portions within the micrographic image. The indicia may be machine readable, eye readable alphanumerics or laser written speech. The speech can be either digitized human speech or artificial speech such as phoneme speech.
Abstract: A transfer sheet with a color pattern having metallic luster comprising at least a transparent or semi-transparent base film, a mold-removing film layer on one side of the base film, a transparent coloring agent layer in the form of a desired pattern on the mold removing film layer, and an aluminum vapor-coated layer on the transparent coloring agent layer.A method of manufacturing such transfer sheet.
Abstract: An optical data and image medium having a visual image area and a laser recordable reflective direct-read-after-write data strip in proximity to the image area. The medium is made from photographic film to which data strip is joined. Data may be recorded on the reflective strip by a laser beam prior to, during, or after photographic exposure of the visual image areas, thereby providing a compact record for archival storage of data-visual information.
Abstract: 2-[2-Hydroxy-3,5-di-tert-octylphenyl]-2H-benzotriazole exhibits outstanding efficacy in protecting organic substrates from light induced deterioration as well as good resistance to loss by volatilization or exudation during the high temperature processing of stabilized compositions. This stabilizer and its 5-chloro analog exhibit great resistance to volatilization, enhanced solubility in selected solvents, desirable absorption characteristics in the ultraviolet range and photographic inertness. This combination of properties makes these benzotriazoles particularly useful in photographic compositions especially in protecting color dye images against the harmful effects of ultraviolet light.
Abstract: A color imaging device which comprises an adhesive layer between (a) means for sensing radiation comprising a planar array of charge-handling semiconductive photosensors, and (b) superimposed filter means for controlling access of radiation to the sensing means comprising a transparent polymer layer capable of receiving dyes such as heat transferable dyes; the adhesive layer comprising a polyester selected from the group consisting of (1) polyesters having recurring carboxylate units of which at least 80 mole percent are terephthalate units, and recurring alkylene units derived from glycols of which at least 40 mole percent are ether alkylene units, with the proviso that either (a) the recurring alkylene units comprise at least 60 mole percent ether alkylene units or (b) either the recurring carboxylate units comprise at least 2 mole percent pyromellitic tetracarboxylate units or at least 10 mole percent of linear aliphatic dicarboxylate units having at least 8 carbon atoms, and that when at least 10 mole per
Abstract: Negative color images are produced by the silver dye bleach process, by exposure of a photographic silver dye bleach material, silver developing, dye bleaching, silver bleaching and fixing, the silver bleaching being optionally carried out simultaneously with the dye bleaching and/or the fixing, in a single treatment bath.
Abstract: A method of fabricating a photomask having at least three distinct zones of light transmissibility is disclosed. A first mask is made from a predetermined pattern, this mask having only two distinct zones of light transmissibility. A second mask, made by contact printing of a diazo film, is formed from a selected portion of one zone of the original pattern, which zone has the greater light transmissibility. The second mask, being a contact print, is the photographic opposite of the first. The two masks are then aligned with the selected portion of the second mask superimposed over its original location in the first mask and a composite latent image thereof is formed in a suitable emulsion. This composite image is then developed and fixed on an appropriate support to form a photomask having at least three density zones.

Abstract: Image color faithfulness can be improved by permanent lamination of the individual proofing sheets. Color proofing sheets are used with transparent, colorless adhesive on the backside of the sheets.
Abstract: A motion picture film having a plurality of digitally coded soundtracks which are colorless and transparent to visible light and which fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light, unexposed film for providing the product, and the method for producing the product and methods for producing the exposed and unexposed films. The soundtrack images which overlie at least a portion of the visible image area of the film are digitally coded on the film using an electrostatic imaging system to imprint a fluorescent toner. The toner may comprise a fluorescent polymer having covalently bonded 3-phenyl-7-(amido or imido)-coumarin or certain substituted stilbene or N-alkyl-4-aminonaphalimides.
Abstract: A high resolution developed color film in which the usual color image is given increased sharpness and resolution by the provision of a metallic silver image interdispersed with and proportional in amount to the color present in the top emulsion layer. The portions not containing color are tanned, and the combination of the silver-color top layer with the tanned uncolored portions provides a high degree of resolution. The developed color film is useful in aerial photography, microfilm and microfiche applications.
Abstract: The specification describes a mask structure comprising a resist pattern having a controlled line profile, for use in defining a predetermined region on and above a substrate. First, a composite electron-beam sensitive resist comprising a bottom layer of resist, a middle layer of a chosen conductive material, and a top layer of resist is formed on a selected substrate. The substrate with the composite resist is exposed to a beam of electrons to simultaneously define a predetermined pattern in the top and bottom layers of the resist. Next, a first chosen solvent is applied for a first predetermined period of time to develop the pattern in the top layer of resist, with the layer of conductive material protecting the bottom layer of resist from exposure to the first chosen solvent. Then, the portion of the conductive layer which is exposed after development of the top resist layer, is removed.
Abstract: Multilayer printing plates having layers with differing moduli are made by exposing through a photographic negative a plurality of liquid layers of different photopolymerizable compositions.
Abstract: An improved lithographic printing plate prepared by exposing a lithographically suitable photosensitive sheet material through a mask or transparency, to radiation, developing the exposed sheet to remove unexposed light sensitive material and post-curing the developed sheet by exposure to high intensity radiation or air-baking at high temperatures.

Abstract: A printed circuit is formed by a coating the entire region of at least one main surface of an insulating substrate with a resin type adhesive layer containing a solid solution consisting of titanium oxide, nickel oxide and antimony oxide, followed by selectively forming a mask on the adhesive layer to provide the non-masked region as a circuit-forming region. Further, the circuit-forming region is treated with a solution of an oxidizing agent and, then, subjected to an activation treatment. Finally, the mask is removed and a desired conductive layer pattern is formed on the activated surface region by means of electroless plating.
Abstract: Pre-press or photomechanical color proofs of half-tone printed products do not faithfully match the color tone values of the final half-tone printed product. This problem occurs from the fact that the printing press, in its mechanical operation, produces half-tone dots on the substrate which are larger than the dots on the printing plate or separation negative itself. It has been found that the proper tonal values for gauging the final results from the press can be obtained in the pre-press color proof by the insertion of a spacer layer between the opaque base and the applied pigment or dye containing layers.
