Abstract: In an improved electrical socket assembly a socket ring and contact block assembly are affixed to a faceplate by two snap rings. An outer snap ring fits into a groove cut into the outer end of the contact block. This snap ring bears against a shoulder on the inner surface of the socket ring and prevents the contact block from being pushed through the socket ring. The contact block extends through socket ring and further through the face plate where it is secured by an inner snap ring that bears against the inner surface of the face plate. The socket ring and the contact block are thus affixed to the face plate without using any bolts which can corrode and make replacement of the socket ring difficult.

  • Patent number: 6966788
Abstract: Disclosed is an anti-decoupling mechanism for maintaining the assembly of sets of tubular components using rotating coupling nuts such as circular electrical connectors. To accomplish this, a multiplicity of detent slots (teeth) engage a multiplicity of flexible detent tooth engaging members—from one such member in the mechanism up to one for each tooth in the mechanism. The geometry, multiplicity, and spacing of the detent components allows on the order of 47 or more locked positions on a tooth ring 0.6 inches in average diameter at the teeth. Adding a second set of teeth utilizing a second direction of flex of the flexible detent tooth engaging members (circumferential) can double this amount. By compound sloping of the detent teeth the mechanism takes advantage of the natural axial motion of the coupling nut to increase but limit the force on the flexible detent tooth engaging members as the components are progressively mated and thereby beneficially altering the torque required to rotate the coupling nut.

  • Patent number: RE32787
Abstract: This invention provides an improved moisture seal for an electrical connector assembly. The invention is characterized by an annular rubber member (10) having generally flat surfaces (11, 12, 13, 14) and an annular groove (15) in one of the surfaces (11) that abuts against a forward surface of one of the housings (30). A second groove (16) extending radially from the annular groove (15) to a circumferential surface (14) provides an escape path for air that would normally be trapped in the annular groove (15) when the sealing member (10) is compressed.
