  • Patent number: 7075007
Abstract: An electrical connector that includes a connector body having an inlet end and an outlet end that slopes downwardly toward the outlet opening that is circumscribed by a complementary frustro conical outer snap-fit retaining ring mounted on the outlet end of the connector body. The outer frustro conical retaining ring is integrally formed from a blank of spring steel having integral locking and grounding tangs blanked or formed out of the plane of the blank. The connector assembly also includes an internal sleeve having inwardly formed spring fingers to secure an electrical conductor to the inlet end by a snap fit. In an alternate embodiment, a simple clamp arrangement is substituted for the internal snap fit sleeve for securing a wire conductor to the inlet end of the connector assembly.

  • Patent number: 7029304
Abstract: A compression connector body for connecting a hardline cable to an equipment port is formed in two members coupled to each other by a coupling nut. A port-side member houses a conductive pin and associated elements, while a cable-side member is attached to the cable via a compression fit. With this arrangement, when servicing the equipment, the cable-side member and attached cable are removed from the port-side member without affecting the connection between the cable and the cable-side member. The port-side member is then disconnected from the equipment port. After servicing the equipment, the port-side member is reconnected to the equipment port, after which the cable-side member is reconnected to the port-side member, thus alleviating the need to cut and prepare a new length of cable for connection to the equipment port.

Abstract: An ignition lead that includes at least one terminal assembly having a replaceable terminal contact that provides a simple means of replacing worn contacts without removal and replacement of the entire ignition lead. The terminal assembly includes the replaceable contact which threads onto a contact body located within a tubular insulator. A retaining ring attaches to the contact to hold the insulator in place over the contact body. The contact can include a groove that extends around the contact to receive the retaining ring. Replacement of the contact involves removing the retaining ring from the groove in the contact, sliding the insulator off the terminal assembly, unthreading the worn contact, threading on a replacement contact, reassembling the insulator onto the assembly, and then securing the insulator in place by snapping the retaining ring back into the groove on the replacement contact.

The rotatable rack includes a pivot and a pair of prongs, wherein the prongs are fixed on the both ends of the pivot respectively. Each connecting slice connects the corresponding prong of the rotatable rack with the corresponding conductive terminal. Therefore a circuit exists between the prongs and the conductive terminals, so that the rotatable plug with an arcing resistant mechanism can suppress the arcing that is produced between the prongs and the conductive terminals. Thus the rotatable plug with an arcing resistant mechanism is used safely and has a long lifetime.

  • Patent number: 6358076
Abstract: A twist-lock connector assembly for securing an engaged electrical plug to an electrical outlet which includes a rotatable cylindrical sleeve disposed enclosing an electrical plug and a modified cover plate for replacing the conventional cover plate of an electrical outlet, such as a wall socket or a portable power box. The forward end of the rotatable sleeve includes a plurality of external thread members. Each socket hole of the cover plate includes an inner cylindrical wall having a plurality of radially inwardly projecting nubs formed thereon. In use, the electrical plug is inserted into the socket portion of the wall outlet and the cylindrical sleeve is rotated about a ¼ turn. This causes the external threads on the rotatable sleeve to lockingly engaged the nubs disposed surrounding the socket opening(s) of the cover plate and thereby prevent the electrical plug from being accidentally pulled loose from the outlet by its connection with cover plate.

Abstract: A connector assembly for interconnection with a mating connector includes a body, a locking nut, and a restraining element. The restraining element rotatably secures the locking nut on the body of the connector assembly. The restraining element can have an annular configuration and be elastically deformable. When this configuration is utilized, the body typically includes a ramp with a groove in juxtaposition thereto. The ramp facilitates both deformation and placement of the restraining element in the groove of the body. Alternatively, the restraining element can have a substantially rigid, tubular configuration and include a flange sized and shaped to engage a portion of the locking nut. This later configuration of the restraining element is designed to be interferingly positioned on the body of the assembly. Also disclosed is a tubular tool element configured to be capable of exerting a substantially equal force upon the restraining element during manufacture of the disclosed connector assembly.
