  • Patent number: 7854621
Abstract: A touch-safe socket for electrical articles, such as bulbs having threads, is provided with a movable carriage-carrying poles which are connected to an electrical supply via a wire. The movable carriage has threads which cooperate with threads on the electrical article, and when the electrical article is screwed into the movable carriage, the movement will cause the poles to make contact with poles which are secured to a stationary plate. Further, a movable bridge having poles is arranged inside the socket, which, when the electrical article is screwed in, will be moved into the socket and also make contact with the poles on the stationary plate.

  • Publication number: 20040157495
Abstract: Improvements to 3-way light bulbs and to their electrical sockets are shown. The major improvement is to replace the rigid middle contact element of the socket by an elastic contact spring. Other improvements are described, which can be applied to the bulbs as well. These include flattening and smoothing the solder joint that is located on the bulb middle contact ring. Also, some new add-ons inserts or adapters are described, which can be used together with the bulbs and sockets, to improve the performance of such bulbs.

  • Publication number: 20030071330
Abstract: A stress-balancing layer formed over portions of a spring metal finger that remain attached to an underlying substrate to counter internal stresses inherently formed in the spring metal finger. The (e.g., positive) internal stress of the spring metal causes the claw (tip) of the spring metal finger to bend away from the substrate when an underlying release material is removed. The stress-balancing pad is formed on an anchor portion of the spring metal finger, and includes an opposite (e.g., negative) internal stress that counters the positive stress of the spring metal finger. A stress-balancing layer is either initially formed over the entire spring metal finger and then partially removed (etched) from the claw portion, or selectively deposited only on the anchor portion of the spring metal finger. An interposing etch stop layer is used when the same material composition is used to form both the spring metal and stress-balancing layers.

  • Publication number: 20030040225
Abstract: A lamp socket for holding an electric light bulb having a screw-threaded base, comprising a body defining therein a receptacle for receiving and locating the light bulb by its base about an axis, and two moulded part-cylindrical socket members located within the receptacle and arranged in an annular manner about the axis. The socket members have on their inner surfaces screw threads for engaging the base of the light bulb. A pair of electrical contacts is arranged within the receptacle for contact by respective side and end terminals on the base of the light bulb. The body is formed by two separate parts, with the first part formed with an aperture to define an open end of the receptacle and the second part having a solid wall to define a closed end of the receptacle.

  • Patent number: 6427019
Abstract: A speaker assembly comprising a speaker housing, a speaker mounted in the housing, and at least two threaded studs connected to the housing and speaker and extending away from the external surface of the housing. The studs have an unthreaded, pointed end that is particularly suitable for piercing a ceiling tile with little effort or mess. There are at least two nuts for threading over the studs to secure the studs to a ceiling tile after the studs pierce the tile to attach the housing to the tile, and at least two wire nuts to connect amplifier wires to the tip of the studs. The speaker is mounted to a ceiling tile by piercing the tile with the studs and securing the studs to the other side of the tile with the nuts. The amplifier wires are then connected to the tips of the studs via the wire nuts.

  • Patent number: 6238062
Abstract: The present invention proposes a modified lamp series. The lamp series is a power cable with a plurality of bulb sets installed thereon. Each bulb set comprises a bulb seat, a fixing outer lid, and a bearing soft core. An accommodation groove is disposed in the bulb seal. An outer thread is formed on the upper periphery of the bulb seat. An inner thread is formed in the fixing outer lid. A retaining ring is installed on the top of the fixing outer lid. A bulb base of the light bulb penetrates an opening at the center of the retaining ring. The inner thread of the fixing outer lid can be matched exactly with the outer thread of the bulb seat such that the fixing outer lid can be screwed firmly on the bulb seat. The bearing soft core can be lapped exactly in the accommodation groove. Two opposite holes are disposed at proper positions of the bottom of the bearing soft core. The bulb base of the light bulb penetrates the opening of the fixing outer lib and is placed in the bearing soft core.
