  • Patent number: 8328566
Abstract: A sealed compressor has an electric motor and a compressor pump unit to be driven by the electric motor. Power is supplied to the electric motor by a terminal plug received within a housing, which communicates electricity through an electric connection and into a shell housing the compressor. A cable is connected to the terminal plug at a location at least partially outwardly of the housing. The cable includes a ground wire and ground connector, which is connected to a ground pin associated with one of the housing and the shell. The cable has a head connected to connections associated with the housing. A shield extends over a ground connection between the cable and the ground pin. A cable and cable head as mentioned above are also disclosed and claimed.

Abstract: Upon plug and receptacle connectors of an electrical connector being fitted with each other, positioning recesses of a block of the plug connector engage positioning protrusions of a housing of the receptacle connector to achieve positioning of the two connectors in their width directions. Inclined portions of receptacle contacts of the receptacle connector are commensurate with inclined portions of inserting holes of the housing so that a backup function of the housing for the receptacle contacts is adjusted to obtain a stable connection between the plug and receptacle connectors. First chamfered portions of the receptacle contacts engage recesses of the plug contacts to generate tactile clicks and to achieve the positioning and contacting between the plug and receptacle contacts. The plug contacts are embraced between contact portions and elastic portions of the receptacle contacts to obtain a stable connection between the both contacts.

Through the said structure, the current can be disconnected first at the instant when the plug is inserted into or released from the socket, whereby to prevent the conductors sparks-meltdown problems in the plug insertion process from happening.

Abstract: The present invention has an object of providing a power cord which prevents breakage of a plug or cord/conductors certainly even when treated roughly and thus has a longer life. The power cord comprises a plurality of cores 5, of a synthetic resin, each for covering a connection section of a single blade 3 among a plurality of blades 3; and an outer skin 6, of a synthetic resin, for covering the plurality of cores 5 together such that the blades 3 are held at a specified interval spacing, so as to form a plug 4. The synthetic resin forming the outer skin 6 is softer than the synthetic resin forming the cores 5. The outer skin 6 includes a thicker part 6b for covering a border part Y of each cord 2 (internal covering member 2b) between a part covered with the core 5 and a part exposed therefrom.

Abstract: An electrical receptacle defines a receptacle formation of a mating formation pair to prevent a standard plug from establishing electrical connection while permitting an otherwise standard plug defining a corresponding plug formation to be sufficiently inserted to establish an electrical connection. The mating formation pair may include a projection on the receptacle adapted for receipt by a corresponding recess on a compatible plug. Alternatively, the mating formation pair is defined by an opening of the receptacle and a conductor of the plug, each having a cross-sectional height that is reduced from that of a standard receptacle and plug. The mating formation pair is particularly desirable for installation including a receptacle controlled by a dimmer to prevent electrical connection by a standard plug connected to a non-dimmable electrical load.
