Abstract: Presented are weight distribution systems for aircraft center of gravity (CG) management, methods for making/operating such systems, and aircraft equipped with CG management systems. A method is presented for managing the CG of an aircraft. The aircraft includes first and second landing gears and an airframe that removably attaches thereto one or more payloads and/or hardware modules. The method includes supporting the aircraft on a support leg that operatively attaches to the airframe and, while supported on the support leg, determining if the aircraft pivots onto the first or second landing gear. If the aircraft pivots onto either landing gear, the method responsively identifies a new airframe position for the payload/hardware module that will shift the aircraft's CG to within a calibrated “acceptable” CG range; doing so should balance the aircraft on the support leg. The payload/hardware module is then relocated to the new airframe position.

Abstract: A biomechanically adapted dual direction sportsboard. This stance-specific sportsboard accommodates a rider's stance, whether they are a “regular-foot” or a “goofy-foot.” This stance-accommodating dual direction sportsboard allows the rider much greater control since the board accommodates the specific biomechanics of the rider's dominant stance, whether their preference is to ride with their left foot in front or their right foot in front. The dual direction sportsboard has rails which are offset from each other, which allows for a rider with fixed foot positions to significantly change the trim of the board by shifting from heel-side rail to toe-side rail or back to heel-side rail. This provides the rider much greater control over the board while performing surfing-style maneuvers, especially with the board attached to their feet. Additionally, for kiteboarding, the offset rails allow for greater windward ability than with legacy designs.

Abstract: The invention relates to a movable fin assembly, which includes a housing attachable to an underside of a watercraft and a rotation and pivoting mechanism. The mechanism positioned inside the housing and movable about two axes of rotation. The mechanism further has a fin locating position, thereby a fin provided at the fin locating position is capable of moving about the two axes of rotation via the mechanism, such that the fin's toe angle and camber angle changes when moving through the water. The invention further extends to an interchangeable self-aligning fin and static fin kit which includes a rotation and pivoting mechanism and a static member shaped and dimensioned to correspond with an interior of the housing. The static member and the rotation and pivoting mechanism interchangeably receivable by the housing in order to selectively provide a dynamic or static fin on the underside of the watercraft.

  • Patent number: 10836458
Abstract: A retractable fin watercraft accessory that provides steering and tracking for a watercraft such as stand-up paddle boards. The retractable fin system gently retracts as it comes in contact with subsurface objects such as rocks, logs and such, allowing the watercraft to freely pass over the object. The system includes a sloped leading edge which can more easily slide past an obstacle. The retractable fin system simply attaches to the watercraft's existing fin mounting box and can be removed from the watercraft without altering the original state of the watercraft prior to being attached. No drilling, welding, gluing or other such custom fabrication is required. The system allows for quick interchangeability between the retractable fin and various rigid style fins, depending on the user's preferences.

  • Patent number: 10780957
Abstract: A board-type watercraft is adapted for selective disassembly into a plurality of separate sections for ease of transport and storage. Preferably, a selection of differently configured nose and tail sections can be releasably connected to a universal middle section to create a wide variety of distinctive board styles. With the watercraft in its assembled state, adjacent sections are releasably secured together using compressive-type fastening elements, such as spring-biased latch mechanisms. Pairs of fastening elements are preferably arranged on the top and bottom surfaces of the board in substantial vertical alignment to limit torque between sections and thereby ensure adequate stiffness through each joint. In its disassembled state, the sections can be stacked into a highly compact configuration suitable for packaging within a container that is compliant with maximum size standards for conventional ground courier services.
