    Abstract: A multi-layer, fluid transmissive structure is provided that comprises first and second fiber layers each comprising a plurality of polymeric fibers bonded to each other at spaced apart contact points. The polymeric fibers of these fiber layers have diameters greater than one micron and collectively define interconnected interstitial spaces providing tortuous fluid flow paths through the first and second fiber layers. The structure also comprises a plurality of nanofibers disposed intermediate at least a portion of the first fiber layer and at least a portion of the second fiber layer.

The reinforcement fabric is laminated to the fibrous insulation board using an adhesive material.

    Abstract: A composite sheet biasable into a tubular shape to form a sleeve for isolating or protecting elongated items is disclosed. The sheet has a reflective surface formed by a metal foil layer overlying a flexible polymer layer having a metalized surface. A biasable polymer netting layer is positioned overlying the flexible layer opposite the metalized surface. The netting layer is formed of elongated members that define interstices. A damping layer of non-woven material is positioned adjacent to the netting layer. An adhesive layer is positioned between the flexible layer and the netting layer to bond the netting layer and the damping layer to the flexible layer. Biasing is effected by the elongated members of the netting layer which are stiffer in the circumferential direction around the sleeve to provide radial stiffness.

    Abstract: A vacuum coated, liquid impermeable, vapor permeable laminate article and a method for making same are disclosed. The laminate may be formed of a netting material which is coated with a thin layer of vapor permeable polymer and subsequently passed over a vacuum forming drum to draw the polymer coating downward into the openings in the netting material. Vacuum coating produces thinned regions in the coating layer which provide greater vapor permeability. In laminates with sufficiently large openings in the netting material, the coating may directly contact a vacuum forming screen resulting in a plurality small indentations or cells within a single thinned region of the liquid impervious coating further increasing vapor permeability.

In the pultrusion die (76) heat is applied to melt the thermoplastic material (74) and cause it to migrate to an outer surface portion of the slat body. A veil (90) of thermoplastic material may be bonded to the surface layer of thermoplastic material.
