Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for grinding grooves in the peripheral surface of rollers roller guides for rolling mills. The roller (2) of a roller guide is caused to rotate while retained on its own bearing (8,9,10) as the peripheral groove is ground. The invention also relates to an apparatus for carrying out the method, and to a roller guide structure with which the method can be applied.
Abstract: A rod-shaped workpiece W is supported at its circumferential surface by a shoe 14 and a pair of rolls 16 and 17, and is rotated by the rolls 16 and 17. The rod-shaped workpiece W is ground by being abut against a backing plate 19 at its one end by the rotation of the rolls 16 and 17, and put in abrasive contact with a sectionally arch-shaped groove-like circumferential surface 20b of a grinding wheel 20 at its other end surface. A floating plate 37 is provided so that a slight gap takes place is in a guide hole 42 of a housing 36. A sphere 39 supported by a support member 38 is provided in a retaining recess 47 on a rear end surface of the floating plate 37, and the floating plate 37 is swingably supported.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for grinding a surface on a workpiece, such as a spigot on a pipe, while supporting the workpiece on the surface being ground. The grinding apparatus includes workpiece support wheels, two of which are positioned beneath the workpiece and contact the workpiece at the surface being ground. The grinding apparatus also includes a rotator mechanism, such as a motor which drives one of the workpiece support wheels in frictional contact with the workpiece outer surface, for rotating the workpiece. The grinding apparatus further includes a surface grinding mechanism, such as a motor and grinding or cutting wheel positioned generally between the two workpiece support wheels and which contacts the surface being ground. The cutter mechanism is adjustable in a vertical direction and angularly to grind an angled surface.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for dressing a hone of a honing wheel which is used for honing a gear to be finished. A dressing tool is brought into contact with the honing wheel under a predetermined constant contact pressure and during the reciprocal feed of the dressing tool. The amount of the contact pressure is maintained constant so as to gradually increase the in-feed of the honing wheel. This is useful in decreasing the number of transverse feeds of the dressing tool.
Abstract: A cylindrical grinding machine has a machine base, a driven workhead with a slide drive and a driven wheelhead with a slide drive. The machine base is formed as a fixed plate, which can be aligned horizontally or vertically. A tailstock has a slide drive which is controllable independently of the other slide drives.
Abstract: A numerical controlled grinding machine for grinding a workpiece, in which a thermal displacement taking place between a wheel head and the workpiece, is detected with the workpiece not being subjected to the bending due to a grinding resistance. The thermal displacement is calculated from the difference between the present position of the wheel head detected by a position detector and the theoretical position thereof converted from the diameter of the workpiece measured by an in-process measuring device. The position data for the wheel head stored in a numerical controller is compensated for the calculated thermal displacement for use in the subsequent control of feed movement between the workpiece and the wheel head.
Abstract: A device at centreless grinding machine incorporating a frame (1), a regulating wheel carriage (7) individually displaceably supported on guides (2) in the frame and supporting a regulating wheel (9), a grinding wheel carriage (3) individually displaceably supported on guides (2) in the frame and supporting a grinding wheel (4), said regulating and grinding wheels (9, 4) between them defining a grinding gap (10) of adjustable size, a work support (11) provided in the grinding gap, and dressing means for the regulating and grinding wheels, said grinding and regulating wheel carriages (3, 7) each being designed with at least two spaced apart supporting points (5a, 6a; 13a, 14a) relative to the guides, wherein said carriages are arranged in an overlapping relation thus that one supporting point (6a; 14a) for one of the said carriages (3; 7) is situated between the two supporting points (13a, 14a; 5a, 6a) for the other carriage (7; 3), for the purpose of compensating thermally dependent length variations at said
Abstract: A method for correcting tire imbalance of a tubeless pneumatic vehicle tire includes the step of mounting the tire on a master wheel rim of great manufacturing precision and having a design that is identical at least in its seat surface to commercial wheel rims for the tire. The tire is inflated to a pressure within a range of -0.3 bar to +0.2 bar of a maximum operating pressure. The pneumatic vehicle tire mounted on the master wheel rim is pressed against a measuring device. At least one radial parameter is measured. The values of the radial parameter are recorded as a function of the angle of rotation from 0.degree. to 360.degree. of the tire. The maximum and the minimum of the radial parameter is determined and the difference between the maximum and minimum is calculated. The difference is compared to a predetermined threshold value. The bead of the tire, when the difference between the maximum and the minimum is above the threshold value, is corrected.

Abstract: A toothed timing belt is produced from a belt blank utilizing an apparatus having a belt blank fixturing device for supporting the belt blank for selective indexable rotation about a first axis and a toothed grinding wheel rotatable about a second transverse axis and supported for movement across the width of the belt blank in a direction parallel to the first axis for cutting a series of circumferentially spaced transverse teeth into the belt blank. The belt blank is indexed with each pass of the grinding wheel until the entire belt has been provided with teeth. The toothed belt blank may then be severed about its periphery to provide a plurality of discrete timing belt members.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for grinding a workpiece which is supported for rotation about a first axis with a first grinding wheel supported for rotation about a second axis and a second grinding wheel supported for rotation about a third axis. The first grinding wheel engages with the workpiece in a location which is substantially diametrically opposed to the location at which the second grinding wheel engages with the workpiece. Control means are disclosed for controlling the radial grinding force imparted to the workpiece by the first and second grinding wheels so that the force imparted to the workpiece from the first grinding wheel is substantially equal and opposed to the force imparted to the workpiece by the second grinding wheel to prevent distortion of the workpiece.
Abstract: A process for successive grinding of crankpins of crankshaft by a grinder includes clamping the crankshaft at two spaced center journals thereof and rotating the crankshaft around the axis of a crankpin to be ground. To enable the maintenance of highly acurate production tolerances even for small quantities and large crankshafts in an economical manner, only crankpins directly adjacent to the center journals that are clamped are ground. Different clamping positions of the crankshaft are offset axially from one another by the center-to-center distance between two adjacent crankpins of the center journals or a multiple thereof.

Abstract: A grinding device is provided for machining and facing workpieces made of resilient or semi-resilient materials. Said device comprises means (31) for holding the workpiece being processed after the machining operation to allow facing thereof. Machining can be improved by allowing limited drift of the workpiece, providing a flexible rotational drive, applying back pressure and using a recessed grinding wheel. This device can be used particularly for machining and facing drive rollers for office machines.
