  • Patent number: 5591065
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for dressing a hone of a honing wheel which is used for honing a gear to be finished. A dressing tool is brought into contact with the honing wheel under a predetermined constant contact pressure and during the reciprocal feed of the dressing tool. The amount of the contact pressure is maintained constant so as to gradually increase the in-feed of the honing wheel. This is useful in decreasing the number of transverse feeds of the dressing tool.

  • Patent number: 5562526
Abstract: A numerical controlled grinding machine for grinding a workpiece, in which a thermal displacement taking place between a wheel head and the workpiece, is detected with the workpiece not being subjected to the bending due to a grinding resistance. The thermal displacement is calculated from the difference between the present position of the wheel head detected by a position detector and the theoretical position thereof converted from the diameter of the workpiece measured by an in-process measuring device. The position data for the wheel head stored in a numerical controller is compensated for the calculated thermal displacement for use in the subsequent control of feed movement between the workpiece and the wheel head.

  • Patent number: 5537866
Abstract: A method for correcting tire imbalance of a tubeless pneumatic vehicle tire includes the step of mounting the tire on a master wheel rim of great manufacturing precision and having a design that is identical at least in its seat surface to commercial wheel rims for the tire. The tire is inflated to a pressure within a range of -0.3 bar to +0.2 bar of a maximum operating pressure. The pneumatic vehicle tire mounted on the master wheel rim is pressed against a measuring device. At least one radial parameter is measured. The values of the radial parameter are recorded as a function of the angle of rotation from 0.degree. to 360.degree. of the tire. The maximum and the minimum of the radial parameter is determined and the difference between the maximum and minimum is calculated. The difference is compared to a predetermined threshold value. The bead of the tire, when the difference between the maximum and the minimum is above the threshold value, is corrected.

  • Patent number: 5486133
Abstract: A toothed timing belt is produced from a belt blank utilizing an apparatus having a belt blank fixturing device for supporting the belt blank for selective indexable rotation about a first axis and a toothed grinding wheel rotatable about a second transverse axis and supported for movement across the width of the belt blank in a direction parallel to the first axis for cutting a series of circumferentially spaced transverse teeth into the belt blank. The belt blank is indexed with each pass of the grinding wheel until the entire belt has been provided with teeth. The toothed belt blank may then be severed about its periphery to provide a plurality of discrete timing belt members.

  • Patent number: 5484327
Abstract: A method and apparatus for grinding a workpiece which is supported for rotation about a first axis with a first grinding wheel supported for rotation about a second axis and a second grinding wheel supported for rotation about a third axis. The first grinding wheel engages with the workpiece in a location which is substantially diametrically opposed to the location at which the second grinding wheel engages with the workpiece. Control means are disclosed for controlling the radial grinding force imparted to the workpiece by the first and second grinding wheels so that the force imparted to the workpiece from the first grinding wheel is substantially equal and opposed to the force imparted to the workpiece by the second grinding wheel to prevent distortion of the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5453037
Abstract: A process for successive grinding of crankpins of crankshaft by a grinder includes clamping the crankshaft at two spaced center journals thereof and rotating the crankshaft around the axis of a crankpin to be ground. To enable the maintenance of highly acurate production tolerances even for small quantities and large crankshafts in an economical manner, only crankpins directly adjacent to the center journals that are clamped are ground. Different clamping positions of the crankshaft are offset axially from one another by the center-to-center distance between two adjacent crankpins of the center journals or a multiple thereof.
