  • Patent number: 5549510
Abstract: A grinding wheel for treating a surface of a power transmission belt/belt sleeve. The grinding wheel has a cylindrical body defining a rotational axis and having a circumferential outer surface with there being a plurality of abrading elements arranged in circumferentially spaced relationship on the outer surface of the body. Reliefs are provided between adjacent abrading elements. The invention further contemplates a method of treating a belt using the inventive grinding wheel.

  • Patent number: 5527210
Abstract: A dynamic steady rest particularly adapted for use in supporting a rotating workpiece during a grinding operation. The steady rest includes a lever assembly pivotally mounted on a base and having a workpiece support arm and a counterweight arm. Weights are adjustably secured to the counterweight arm and bias the support arm upwardly and into supporting engagement with the rotating workpiece. The steady rest further includes two dashpots pivotally secured between the base and the support arm to dampen the motion of the support arm.

  • Patent number: 5487697
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for polishing semiconductor wafers and, in particular, one in which the polishing pads are linear, that is, the polishing pads have a long linear dimension relative to their width and have a uniform cross-section along this linear dimension. In addition, the wafer holder travels in a straight line parallel to the long linear dimension of the polishing pads.

  • Patent number: 5445554
Abstract: A notch of a wafer is chamfered by a method which is characterized by disposing a rotary disklike grindstone and a wafer to be ground with the disklike grindstone in such a manner that the surfaces thereof intersect each other, relatively moving the grindstone and the wafer toward or away from each other, and meanwhile rotating the wafer within a prescribed angle around the central axis perpendicular to the surface of the wafer thereby effecting a work of chamfering the notch of the wafer in the circumferential direction and/or in the direction of thickness of the wafer.

  • Patent number: 5351363
Abstract: A poppet valve cleaner 10 includes a frame 20, a poppet valve brush assembly and a carriage assembly. The poppet valve brush assembly includes a drive motor 32 and a pair of cup shaped steel wire brushes 44 and 46 driven by the motor. The carriage assembly includes a carriage support shaft 54 and a carriage plate 64 that is pivotally and slidably attached to the carriage support shaft. A chuck assembly 86 is mounted on the carriage plate 64. A drive roller 138 is mounted in the side walls 88 and 90 of the chuck assembly and is rotated by an electric motor 144. A valve stem 14 is positioned between idler rollers 96 and 98 and compression roller 108 that is biased toward the idler rollers by a compression spring 134. The idler rollers 96 and 98 are driven by drive roller 138 to rotate the poppet valve. The carriage plate 64 is manually movable to position the valve head 16 between the steel wire brushes 44 and 46 and to move surfaces of the valve into contact with the brushes to remove carbon from the valve.
